The point of downloading anime is most importantly so you can watch it at your own leisure without an internet connection. The quality is a good incentive and is important in its own right, but ultimately your memory of the show will amount to the same thing whether you downloaded it or streamed itIf two people were to discuss an anime, can you say with confidence that the outcome of their conversation would significantly depend on the fact that one of the streamed it and one of them downloaded it but neither of them disclosed this information?There is certainly something to be said about purists that insist streaming is damnable and bad actors that insist they are losing nothing by streaming, but by and large it won't ever actually matter if you are discussing the material in earnestI prefer spending time reading manga personally so maybe that influences my opinion

Do some of you guys really not delete stuff immediately after you finish watching it? I have like 10 gigs of free space on my hard drive on a good day, and I download stuff all the time; I only ever keep the anime that I end up really liking to the point that I'd be willing to rewatch it.
