>Almost all merch for an anime is timed exclusives including shit like buttons and keychains>also gacha shit instead of just selling the damn thing you want>sometimes both those things at the same time>refuse to resell anything outside that tiny buying window>Have to pay 3x for second hand merch >Wants more global fans but refuses to distribute manga or episodes properly, region locking online content expecting people to fly to their country to see anything>Get mad when fans make their own merch or pirateWhy are the Japanese so retarded when it comes to selling merch and distribution?
>>290339678As far as merch, it's often financially better for the company to make that limited amount that they know will fully sell out quickly than to have leftover stock they have to eventually discount and lose money on. A lot of the manufacturers, like the ones that do limited pop up shops and collab cafes and such are quite small. While anime is generally popular these days, merch collecting is more niche especially for non-mainstream series. The majority of normalfags watching anime on streaming are never going to want to buy any kind of merch.I do find gacha/blind box stuff annoying and even Japan fans complain about that, though it does often tend to be pretty cheap on aftermarket since people get so many dupes.
