Your bar is too low
>>290348187Manga fight choreography peaked with Dragon Ball and hasn't at that level ever since.
No I didn't. JJK is dogshit.
>>290348232Like father like son
>>290348232You're so desperate.
>>290349357Bleach and JJK are total opposites in battle. Bleach is turn-based and JJK is real time with strategy and dynamism.
>>290348187It is peak and so easy to follow. In what way are you confused? How do you fail to follow the action?
>>290349685
>>290349757
>>290349724>In what way are you confused? How do you fail to follow the action? That's why your bar is low, peak fight coreography is more than a fight "easy to follow".
>>290349685strategy? yes. dynamism? i don't think so. the pages are always bloated with walltexts.
>>290348187OP may be retarded but this thread could be a banger for the real ones.
>>290349851Easy to follow is one of the hardest and most respectable things to do in a static medium like manga. What do you even want then? Try to actually say something.
>>290349885Well, not actually though.
>>290349924I'll never forgive mappa for removing this. There is absolutely no reason to not adapt the bathroom door feint. In fact, they had to work harder to have Yuji pointlessly run down the hall and then run back. It's like they fucking hate us. Why else would they go out of their way to make it worse? Why else would they put in more effort to do it wrong?
>>290349924>>290349986A manga being easy to follow is the bare minimum expected. "Peak" status requires creativity, innovation and uniqueness. And that’s not the case with the choreography in JJK. You see, I’m not saying it’s garbage, I just don’t agree with those who treat it as something visually striking.
>>290349924E N T E R
Nobody on 4chan told you that and if they did they were trolling you,jjk is the ultimate black teenager anime
>>290350340I didn't know japs were black teenagers
>>290350044itadori's fights are the exception
>>290350386if you ever go to Japan and realize 99% of nips are actually brown you will lose your mind
>>290350292"Easy to follow" isn't the bare minimum, it is the exception. Look at the average battle manga, One Piece, Bleach, MHA, CSM, BC, Demon Slayer, Kongo Bancho, Zatch Bell, Fairy Tail, Rave Master....I'm not even saying these are bad manga. I'm saying these manga have muddy choreography and their battles are really just competing double spreads with a named attack on top. Actually seeing what happens in the battle is not the norm. I think its telling that you want visually striking images which isn't choreography. Choreography is the movement of the characters. And also that uniqueness is your other personal criteria but uniqueness isn't a virtue in itself. If it was then you're just rating something higher because it came first, which is not related to the actual quality. And something that is shit would be rated higher just because it hadn't been done before.
>>290350554JJK is the exception.
>>290349724>In what way are you confused? How do you fail to follow the action?I'm actually confused. How did the guy in white go from lunging horizontally at the guys hip lead to him holding the other guys legs with his own? Actually before that I'm also kinda confused already. They were shoulder to shoulder and both moving fast in the same direction in one panel and then in the very next one they're both in the middle of moves that look like they originated from standing still while holding a stance. They're also more than an arms length apart from each other. What happened in between? They came to a standstill, set up their positions, gave each other a polite bow and then resumed?
>>290350587
>>290350600That would just be Gojo stopping since he was caught and then Sukuna transitioning out of the run into a kick. The middle part was offscreen though which is unusual for JJK's exacting standards.
>>290350292Post an example of your idea of "good fight choreography"
>>290348187Thank god twitter was randomly based for a week
>>290350587technically this is Itadori too
>>290350802JJK fans love to get mad when side characters get attention though. Tons of bitching that Momo had some love for that week.
>>290350725One answer is missing and the other is not very convincing.
>>290348187No Kagurabachi dump this week, I guess.
>>290349049Toriyama was the best. No one has even come close.
>>290350587thanks for proving my point
>>290350565The fact that some manga fail to get the basics right doesn't change the fact that those basics are the minimum expectation.>I think its telling that you want visually striking images which isn't choreography.Manga is a visual medium. So, "peak" fight choreography should be the kind that fully exploits that aspect. JJK's fights are more interesting conceptually than they are visually.
>>290350830>>290350554True. So, nearly zero dialogue in the entire chapter. I couldn't fit all the pages in the size limit so I just stopped at 6
>>290350838fuk 'em. I don't grant them the title of JJK fan.
>>290350754>>290350565The choreography for Sakamoto Days and Blade of the Immortal, for example, is much more visually challenging.
>>290348187>choreography>manga
>>290351211Are we really going to pretend that JJK isn't an incredibly exposition-heavy manga? Post all the fight instead of cherrypicking.
>>290351009The fact that so many can't do it directly backs up my earlier point that it is difficult to achieve. Combine that with it being what we as readers want aka the minimum expectation, that means that it being easy to follow is a highly respectable quality. >I don't think we'll get anywhere going over what is visually interesting enough since it is technically subjective. It also isn't choreography. Like >pic attached is from my favorite manga. It is visually interesting but it is not something I would categorize under "choreography"I'd also say that there has been visually interesting things already posted in this thread from JJK and no-one can objectively disagree with that.
>>290351613Are you really going to pretend posting the minority situation is a point in your favor? This thread is already full of examples proving you wrong.
>>290351233
>>290351613There is a reason it is famous for peak choreography.
I claim Nobara
>>290350558Why? He never implied they were "heckin Aryans" or whatever the fuck you're trying to insinuate
>>290348232Kuboino
>>290348232It's Bleach the first manga where someone get his arm cut?
>>290351211>character fires off attack from a city block away>character makes inscrutable expression>no sound effect indicating the building is crumbling and falling (slash is not crumbling), building is just on its side in the next page possibly halted in mid-air by some power or something idk>next page seems to indicate building is falling with speedlines everywhere and that they're moving through it when said building was clearly static on the previous pageWhat am I supposed to be seeing here that's even readable much less "peak"?
>>290354185>exact same pose>exact same shot composition>exact same arm>cut at the exact same spot>character's hair is even swaying the exact same direction>both have no background whatsoever for dramatic effect>"bleach didn't invent getting your arm cut off!!!1"
>>290354418>>>>290349639You're so desperate. May as well say no one is allowed to get their arm cut since Kubo has done every variation already.
>>290354316>never read the manga>still able to understand the actionAll you need is some context on the powers and then you'd be all caught up. That is how good it is, even when you're actively trying not to understand it, the action is still conveyed clearly to you. The other point was that there is no exposition dumps and it applies across the manga, not just for the MC. It is a counter to the post it is replying to.
>>290353567
>>290356249
>>290357521
JJK choreographies are functional but far from peak. They are easy to read but lack risk.
>>290357820Lack risk. wut?
>>290348187>>290350292>>290357820It is peak. That's why there is no argument against it. Or rather the only arguments we've seen so far are hoity-toity vague posting.
>>290358232>>290358938JJK's choreographies do nothing extraordinary in terms of physics or spatial dynamics. You might say, as several here have already said, that they are easy to read, but that's all.
>>290359392Ah, more of this. But in reality, JJK is inspired and transcendental. It does extraordinary things with physics and spatial dynamics.
>>290348187The shitty art doesn't help it
>>290350159>slow walks for a full 30 seconds in the anime. We were cursed with M*ppa, it was a kind of meta joke that I'm sure those fucking Nips laughed their asses off about. >Get it? Cursed! You rike! wwWww
>>290361006I actually preferred the unfinished drawing from the initial release it is timed *almost perfectly with the use and deactivation of the kid's eye technique. It was as if the eye magic distorted all the visuals too.
>>290348187A JJK choreography thread? Oh, hell yeah
>>290348187Jjk is dogshit coregraphy. Peak is Dragonball, Toriyama knew what he was doing.
>>290363231>Clear art, >motion carries from one panel to the next. JJK is a lot closet to Toriyama than any other modern manga. Easily in the same tier
>>290349924Choso v Yuji is one of the best in the manga. >>290350044>>290350200Yuji fights are so good. >>290351971Even this one too. Every Yuji scene is peak. Someone bring the battle against the genius Locust.
>>290350920But that is Sukuna, not Itadori
>>290348187Its not 4chan who says that. It was your favorite eceleb streamer on youtube said that THEN you came here to complain because you dont want your favorite eceleb gets disappointed.
>>290350918>>290349049This is crazy
>>290348187The choreography becomes less great in Shinjuku, the peak is in Shibuya.
>>290351613You have no sense of style. The pages you posted are the lead-in to the climactic ending of a fight, the slow-motion narrative explanation builds tension and expectations, stretching out the perceived time of reading those pages, immersing the reader for longer in those final moments of the fight.
>>290348187It is
you can always tell in a manga where the guy gets pulled into anime production stuff and he develops animation choreography envy and he starts trying to capture his imagination of an anime fight instead of proper manga choreography about intelligibility and page turn payoffs
>>290348187Baki and Bleach are you read if you want peak fight choreography.
>>290371672Bleach? No, the closest Bleach gets to fight choreography is a flurry of sword slashes. The rest is just named attack spreads. You just have to guess what happens based on context clues. And whats worse is that nothing matters in a Bleach fight until the final "No U"
>>290372242Bleach people on social media have been in the self-delusion jungle for so long it's just hopeless
