is it good?
It's very good. Definitely an anime any otaku should watch. Despite some light flaws, there isn't anything quite like it to this day, and there probably never will.
>>290359048It has potential and some good moments but has a few key flaws:1.) It's way too far up its own ass and thinks its commentary is far more profound and intelligent than it actually is. People have been comparing the values of democracy vs. autocracy since ancient Greece, it's not some amazing epiphany. 2.) The series completely falls apart and meanders once Yang dies. Stuff like the Roenthal Rebellion makes no sense even in-universe to the point where Roenthal remarks it to the plot as some awful damage control. 3.) The series eventually just sort of runs out of plot and just ends with little having been achieved or changed, itself satisfied by this subversion of expectation thinking it's such genius commentary
>>290359048let's face it, it's a great anime hurt by a bad (english) title. "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" is just too literal a translation to be effective.imo they should go with something else in English. Now I don't know what that is, but there has to be something. You sound like a complete fucking retard saying "Legend of the Galactic Heroes"
>>290359048If you can get past faggy leads + a bunch of absolute clowns to make the main cast look like otherworldly geniuses/badasses, and are ready for worse writing and directing in general than you expected. Then it is pretty cool.
>>2903590971. I think this is more the fanbase than the series itself.2. I won't lie there's a mild quality drop after the war ends, and another after Yang dies, but it was still good. Reuenthal had pride issues and while his rebellion didn't make much logical sense, the series tried to show (with mixed results) that Reuenthal both couldn't accept someone ending up in a higher position of power than him while simultaneously acknowledging Reinhard was a better authority figure than him. He basically started the rebellion to get himself shut down so he could die and not have to live with that duality anymore.3. The series ends when there aren't any more threats to Reinhard's reign. It shows that Reinhard learned from his interactions with Yang, and so he establishes a constitutional monarchy rather than an absolute one and the series ends with the establishment of true peacetime.
