I was really looking forward to the Liar Game anime, but I just started watching it and it's quite dry and dull. The lack of music and cool sound effects is very noticeable to me. It seems the creators aren't doing much to elevate the source material unlike with Kaiji.

I keep wanting a song like this to play, but it never does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QWiXGJo40w&list=RD2QWiXGJo40w

I'm on episode 2 now. Is it worth continuing? I really enjoyed the manga.

Just finished episode 3.

I hate the direction they went for the reveal of Nao returning the money. It was extremely corny. The Liar Game is equivalent to a game of life and death, but the ending of episode 3 felt like a Hallmark movie. What felt earned in the manga does not feel earned at all in the anime.

It doesn't need elevation. It just needs enough attention for them to publish the manga without ai translations.
You are expecting Death Note levels of direction when it was never going to get that from the start. If it was going to get that level of attention than it would have been animated 10years ago. They are only animating it now because they are tired of doing isekai and light novel adaptations and need s break with something easy to animate
