What was /a/ like when anime like Lucky Star and K-ON! was airing?
>>
it was "peak reddit tranny behavior" by modern standards
if oldfags behaved like oldfags they'd be chased out of here
>>
>>290364286
Really fucking boring

It was pure SOUL, I miss it so much.

Kind of, it worked then because we were teenagers, young and dumb with a teenager sense of humor, and also because /a/ was at least somewhat original and creative, among other factors like board-wide community. But it's also true that modern teenage culture is far more cancerous than what we had, purely due to enshitification of the entire world over the last 1/4 century.

And it's not quite true that redditsperg speak, at any time, is 1-for-1 alike to the way people used to post and 'speak' on /b/ and /a/ in the early 00s.

I looked at the metadata and I saved this image from /a/ in November of 2009.

This one is also from 2009.

There was a very clear divide between Gurren Lagann fans and Lucky Star/K-On fans and both ate up a majority of the board.
>>
I miss battlestation threads and when /a/ didn't have janitors and only the occasional, transient mod passing through.
>>
>>290364286
>Lucky Star
Back during 2007, /a/ was still dominated by /b/ culture, which consisted of acting like an obnoxious scriptkiddie spamming swears, slurs and random nonsense in all caps.
>K-On!
Attention-seeking tripfags everywhere, and a fair bit of spam too. The seeds for /a/'s golden era were starting to sprout, but there were still a few vestiges of cancer left to shake off.

I miss accel spammer and KoG

I miss Naruto spammed off the board, or the threads outright deleted if there was actual moderation (rare).
>>
>>290365732
True, Naruto posters were banned on site. Back in the good old days.
>>
>>290365638
I rather miss when janitors weren't as necessary.

Holy larp, everyone and their mom was already using LCD instead of CRT when that shit aired

I didn't get my first HD(720p) TV until 2008, same with my first 1080p monitor.

*were airing
come on anon this is basic stuff
>>
>>290364286
K-On and Lucky Star were overrated. In 2007 I was watching stuff like Hayate The Combat Butler and Shakugan No Shana and Soltyrei and Darker Than Black and Baccano

Not quite true, since 4chan has always had the contrarian streak since the beginning thanks to anonymity, whereas reddit has always the actual hivemind of social conformity due to updoots. Even if there are superficial similarities of oldfag culture to reddit culture, the underlying sentiments couldn't be more different.

It was cringe. Nowadays kids are forced to have a bit of self-awareness when they're being cringe, because of social media and all that.

I can't handle this much soul, they still do meet ups at the library and watch anime together after 30 years.
