Granted those don't really help as the problem was theoretically solved by the end of season one, so covering some of the mop up feels like retreading the same ground. But you also have stuff like the toning down of the violence from slaughtering bandits and slavers to just knocking them down and having them arrested. Or Arc just standing there while the guy runs away. It probably doesn't help either that the anime is adapting the manga, which made its own changes from the light novel.

I can only think of three times offhand that human enemies survived the encounter in the LN. Once when Arc happened to help another group of mercenaries with a group of bandits. Once when he stormed a slaver ship and most of them jumped into the water to get away from him and be arrested by harbor guards. And once when a group of bandits had taken over a village and Arc's group thought bring them in alive would be more beneficial to their plans; for which plan b was to settle for just the leader and summarily execute the rest of the prisoners if arranging transport was more than a very mild inconvenience. >>290415761Thank the anime for the fox boobs. The general history of the setting is that there was one big expanding human empire and a bunch of human smaller kingdoms, duchies, etc., most of which treated elves, dwarves, and beastmen poorly. Like, humans think dwarves were hunted to extinction by humans for their smithing abilities, and it's a secret that some dwarves survived by taking shelter with the elves. In response isekai'd people created the Great Forest and founded Canada, founded the Fobnoch kingdom, befriended dragon lords, and engaged in political manipulations that split the empire into two competing empires. It's only after this that elves had enough concentrated power to crush nearby human kingdoms attempting to subjugate them. Hence the war with Rhoden centuries ago, and subsequent treaty.

>>290441252Well as far as the elves, it's more a matter of humans not have had a sufficiently recent ass kicking for the ambitious and the lowlifes to understand the elves aren't to be trifled with. To the elves, the last war between humans and elves and the subsequent treaty with Rhoden was something their parents or grandparents did. To the humans, that was a couple dozen generations ago and basically ancient history. So corrupt nobles don't feel threatened enough to prevent them from hiring bandits and the like to kidnap and enslave elves. The king of Rhoden on the other hand isn't an idiot. Hence why Arc and Arianne letting the marquis be beat to death resulted in the king having an emergency meeting with his kids to discuss their response, which included sending his daughter to try and open communications with the elves and disavow the marquis.
