While some aspects of Angel Beats were decent the plot was pretty damn contrived. I formed no emotional attachment to the characters because there was absolutely no grounding to anything that happened.Suddenly then telling me 'oh this girl was crippled and so she was sad she didn't have a boyfriend but now this guy says they'll be together in the next life or whatever' does nothing for me. Honestly the fact that the girl the protagonist was into didn't really feel that way about him and just literally ghosted him was more funny than sad. 'Will you stay here in purgatory with me?' 'Nah, peace.' and then an exaggerated crying scene. Like, f'real.Nice music and all, and having a character just be a freak that only spoke English for no reason was funny, but taking that shit seriously? Come on with that.
