Big agree with the anon from the previous small thread btw, I hope they make more remake movies. Really, the ones that need them most are the arcs closer to the end.I sent a digital fan mail via jump plus's 2-b destroyers (I assume it goes to editors first who then pass them on to the mangaka if they see fit), saying to make a remake anime too and to call it THE GINTAMA (ripping off one piece), hopefully the editor takes the idea. I didn't watch all the episodes (more of a reader) but the first 50 episodes or so at least are for example confirmed to have a lot of anime original scenes that dampen Sorachi's humor. Also pacing/art could be improved in a remake if they actually try.Also, where's the Year 2 Class B Hero Destroyers vomic? The batch of Jump serializations AFTER Destroyers already have theirs coming out. My crack theory is that they're making an actual animated one which is why it's taking longer. It's cope though because they could still make a vomic and publish that faster. Holy shit Shinpachi's voice actor's voice is starting to show a bit of age. But it actually makes Shinpachi sound cooler imo so I'm cool with that. He's my oshi!

I am still missing the last 30 min. I love that they basically made a 1:1 remake except during the big fights, most of the shots+OST are the same showing how right they got it the first time. > Kamui vs HosenThey cut some lines of the Fat Yato and when Kamui kicks him jokingly, not a fan of the current version of the OST, the classic one was perfect. > Kagura (+Shinpachi) vs AbutoLoved it. The lights turning off is a great touch and I have always loved Abuto's speech and Kagura's breakdown after the fight. My one nitpick is that Shinpachi coughed blood twice, I think that the blood+vomit+spit combo in the episodes were more realistic. I don't really care for the added Shinsengumi+Katsura content, it's pretty meh.
fight scene coolness and super sakuga aside for now I think I'm preferring the deliveries in the original in general, for example in this comedic scene. it feels like scenes get room to breathe, the characters act a bit more human. I do think it's cool though how over 19 years you can tell sugita and the other actors got better and learned more tools of the trade though. and the movie has quite a few good points so far, i'm enjoying it. we are blessed, fellow gin-tamers!

hmm, the movie is good, not trying to be a buzzkill.but for example all the sound effects like "TWA~ANG!" or stuff like that during comedy scenes is a bit over the top, it really feels like the finished product is a "nu-"Gintama and not in a good way sometimes.Very happy I get to watch the movie though

Hopefully they'll do Red Spider next. The drugs part never got resolved and quietly sidelined after Tsukuyo got captured so they can easily insert zura + shinsengumi

Kagura vs Abuto was amazing. I didn't care for the rest, the fight against Housen was missing its most iconic moment. Shinsengumi and Zura stuff were much, but I did crack up at the final Your Name joke.

all gintama spoilersso one way you can read it that i just thought up from this watch, is that kamui feels that hinowa weakened housen, while umibozu weakened kouka. that's cool, before i only saw the parallel of kamui wanting to reunite a mother and son and seeing himself in seita and his mother in hinowa, but now i realize there's another layer to it too.
okay i promise this is the last time i'll complain about this movie, and also the abuto fight was super cool ofc.but in general it feels like they spent their time on adding tons of effects (picrel is the most egregious example), and body movements, while it lost the effort spent on the humanity, the more subtle facial expressions besides "GYAA IM TAKING DAMAGE" and "RAAHH TAKE THIS!!!", etc.I hope I'm explaining myself properly, basically it feels like they leveled up the hype moments in terms of the "modern mainstream/shonen anime criteria" and everything else got leveled down quite a bit from coloring to direction to pacing to character acting (voice acting was either same or better though imo). unfortunate.

okay i lied i'm making one more complainti think they try way too hard throughout the movie to make gin/other characters look cool and it just has the opposite effect.For example on the left I think Gin is super cool because he's half-dead and still barely managing to stand and form a smile and play it cool.On the right Gin actually manages to form a strong sneer and his face looks like he's about to say "KEIKAKU DOORI, you just fell into my trap, it's time for me to WIN since i'm the protagonist!!" and it feels like the staff is trying too hard to make Gin coolthoughts?
They must have actually cut more than I expected compared to the TV anime (idk about compared to the manga, but I did a few comparisons and there definitely were cuts) since this movie to the very end is feeling like a compilation of video game cutscenes more than a continuous story
