Alright lets try this! One chapter everyday until we die.
>The Social Welfare agency, a government sponsored corporation is in the business for saving orphaned or abandoned children who are terminally ill or injured beyond the point of saving.
>Using cybernetic implants, the Agency uses a process called 'conditioning' to turn orphaned children into emotionless killing machines with hardly any memories, no human comfort and no free will.
>Follow the life of Henrietta, a girl who barely survived a brutal attack that killed her family and who was saved and repaired by the Social Welfare Agency. Despite her conditioning and programming, Henrietta still has the heart of a young girl. She has not completely forgotten how to love, yet the very emotion is contrary to her training and programming. Can the Gunslinger Girl survive?

Lady Rosso is really good. It gives all the background you need for Sandro to understand his character and his past, and injects spy thriller elements into the greater story. Petra slowly becoming more enamored with Sando and eventually fighting her conditioning to call him a piece of shit just so he'd believe her feelings were real was some great drama. The main downside is that it mostly just establishes a status quo between them that doesn't really change for the rest of the series.

Pinocchio on the other hand, does a better job establishing the enemy, their complex motivations, and certain important themes to the greater story, not to mention setting up a lot of important plot hooks down the line. Rather than the end of character development between Petra and Sandro, this is the real beginning of development between Hilshire and Triela, so I've got to give the slight edge to Pinocchio.

ANGELica "remembering" things people can't recall telling her and seeing visions of a dog that isn't there and "knowing" that she'll be a good shield for for Marco if she's ever so slightly taller, it all seems awfully spiritual. If she hadn't dawdled here for those few seconds it's possible that Marco's injuries would be much more severe.

The pezzo di merda scene was really nice, especially because it represents character growth. Though I'm not sure if it's all that big given that Triela has been able to be dismissive towards Hilshire from her introduction.

>>
>>290492856
Triela has never spoken to Hilshire in a way that could be considered opposing him. It's always been her frustration about his orders rather than anything she says against Hilshire.
>>
>>290494887
Hillshire overall seems like a good guy
>>
>>290494887
>pezzo di merda
3rd chapter of the manga has her saying that she hates selfish adults (like Hilshire)
>non capisci un cazza
she's casted shade on Hilshire for him not consulting her on what to gift her, she's equated his gifts to bribes meant to buy her goodwill and expressed displeasure at the automatism and repetitiveness of it, she's pushed back against his suggestions of cutting her hair and changing out her firearms, she's also outright rejected his attempts to comfort her after getting K.O.d by Pinocchio and is unphased by his recurring ask that she minimize harm on the people they fight etc.

Sure the defiance and disrespect comes from a place of love and understanding and there was no ill will behind the hate-comment. But the same was true for Petra and she was throwing up seconds after.

>she hates selfish adults
Not specifically directed at Hilshire, more of a philosophical cynicism than anything.
>she's casted shade on Hilshire for him not consulting her on what to gift her
Yet she loves every bear he's ever gotten her regardless, and even if she's a little tsun about it, she still accepts them gladly and tells him to keep it up when pressed.
>she's also outright rejected his attempts to comfort her after getting K.O.d by Pinocchio
Comforting her wasn't an order, and it came from a place of feeling undeserving of it rather than hostility to it. In fact I would say most of Triela's defiance over less-lethal tactics comes from her conditioning to kill threats to her handler and her fear that she can't live up to those orders, rather than any particular malice towards Hilshire. Instead, Triela's "defiance" is more a result of her being cognizant and self-aware of the narrow gap between the affection of her actual feelings and the affection instilled by her conditioning.

Petra on the other hand was fully pissed off AT Sandro for not believing how she felt, but had no way of expressing that anger in a way that wouldn't conflict with her programming. The distinction between the two is subtle, but it's still an important difference due to each pair's circumstances.
>>
Petra's story is about how she can overcome the conditioning and achieve 'true love' in contrast to the 1st gen cyborgs who are supposedly so loyal they would die from a joke.
The specific 'saying rude things about your handler' angle hadn't been explored elsewhere in the manga but right from the first volume we saw Triela go directly against her orders and lie about it (when she let Mario go). Even Rico was able to lie when questioned by her handler in chapter 2.
Since we've already seen a cyborg murder suicide with her handler, it would fit better if the 'weaker conditioning' was untrue and Petra's vomiting was something newly added in hopes of preventing that situation from repeating.
In any case there's a big difference in how Petra's cognitive function is portrayed compared to the other girls. When Petra initially tries to follow Sandro's orders to say rude things, it's like there's a firewall gets triggered and some foreign entity is in conflict with her rational mind.
Compare that to Rico's scene in volume 14 with the Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli Vidhwansak anti-material rifle; here it's not "girl vs machine", both her reluctance to cause harm and desire to get the job done are her own beliefs.

>I think quality can still be quite good compared to most phones
Not sure, phone cameras are mostly gimped by the form factor, they don't want to use thicker lenses or longer focal lengths because of size constraints which pretty severly gimps your ability to get sharp pictures at a distance, but then again the ease of use and sheer range of post production options that digital imaging gives you means that it's much much easier to take a good picture with a phone.

>sacrifices
this was a direct attack on a government building even if no one important (in the political sense) was hurt or killed that day, the message an attack like this is meant to send is that no one, big or small, is safe. I'm sure the:
>there will be no change in our policy.

Angelica didn't appear much but being the first prototype, it makes sense she'd be the first to go. Unless they die in combat, it seems its very hard to take down a gunslinger girl. I kind of wish she appeared more, her story was tragic, but it would have been neat to see her in operation more, with Marco directing her. Or at least more of her past.

>>290538792
Marco's a cop that knows he's a bastard, and by this point, he's fully resigned himself to never grow past that bastard. He was a hard-ass thug that worked for the Italian equivalent of the brute squad, and then he moved on to work for an agency that brainwashes vulnerable little girls into murderbots, all while stringing along his publisher girlfriend that makes picture books for children. At least until now, when in her final moments of lucidity, Angie remembers all the good Marco did for her, and can do for others. Marco's a true, dyed in the wool bastard. He knows it, he shows it, so the scariest thing to a guy like that is learning that he doesn't have to be, and there, his deepest regret, dying in a hospital bed for his sake, goes and realizes his worst fears by forgiving him the unforgivable.
>>
>>290538642
Priscilla's a lot of fun, but the entire goonsquad around Marco and Ange' makes the who agency feel so much more alive. I don't even know if Gian, Peppe and Hilshire have any friends and obviously Sandro doesn't either. Remeber when Marco made her carry a case of explosives and then even sent her into a gunfight with it without telling her.

Honestly, one of the biggest weaknesses of the manga is we never get a full picture of the Agency or even just section 2. Slyvia and Chiara have both been around for years, but we don't even see their faces, so much as read their names, until volume 11. Arguably, Chiara's back shows up in chapter 23 in the photo the journalist creep has, but the point is that the agency is larger than the character focuses let on, and having had more time to explore that would have been nice.
