Yani Neko is a trend setter chud.
>>290490739>shounen is low-browHoly shit, what a revelation!
Weebs hate movie homages in anime because it reminds them their beloved Japanese people and anime creators actually like western films/Hollywood and consider them to be above anime
I don't care.

Chainsaw Man's feels too random with its choice of movies. Yani Neko has a much stronger thematic choice with their movies shown and they also they try to recreate scenes from the manga when they can like Kansai's Titanic reference is supposed to be her streaking with Hiki, The mangaka in her bra in front of writer neko is referencing the chapter where she is showing off her yoga ball, Yaku's pulp fiction bit is referencing the chapter where she describes her friend ODing and it was literally just describing the scene from PF.

>>290498986Most (serialized) shows aren't really meant to be binged so you're either getting a story in chunks or a blur of a story you aren't giving yourself time to digest. A movie is usually a standalone experience that better stands up to the test of time.
>>290498986I feel the vast majority of stories fail to justify needing over 3 hours to be told. Movies forcing creatives to trim the fat does more good than bad for storytelling, even if most directors arent talented enough to trim said fat particularly well

I think people underestimate that making a scene inspired by another scene is just easier for everyone involved, because you are taking something that you know already works and just have to put your own spin on it.As long as you understand what it is that makes the scene work and it fits, you have the benefit of getting a great scene while cutting away the groundwork of developing a scene from scratch. That people can be happy about recognizing the reference is just an added bonus.

>>290507770There are so many subtle references and allegories to Nietzschean philosophy in this short scene. Hotheads will never understand. When Agent Wilson calls Bane a "big guy" he's clearly referencing him as the Übermensch, while himself indulges in slave morality represented by the authoritarian institution that is Central Intelligence Agency. Note how Wilson never references himself as his real name. There is no individuality in him, only CIA. The essence of slave morality (represented as the "flight plan", opposed to master morality - the "master plan") is utility: the good is what is most useful for the whole community, not the strong. But he does not see beyond initial good and evil. Also prior to the scene, Wilson shoots out of the plane without actually killing anyone. He does so out of misguided anger, furious that neither faith in god nor scientific knowledge has not given him the rest or respite he desires. At the same time, CIA shooting the sky symbolizes the death of God as a source of morality for people, leading to the unhooding of Bane, the Übermensch. When Bane crashes the plane with no survivors, he's crashing the entire worldview based on slave morality. He's crashing old thoughts and institutions such as religions. He's crashing secular humanism. He's crashing herd mentality. He's crashing even himself, as he overcomes his former self to become the over-man. In this crash, a fire rises in the wreckage - the triumph of "life" over "logic"Then, in the end Bane reminds Dr. Pavel that "Now is not the time for fear, that comes later!" The world is necessarily moved in a cycle, endlessly repeating all past events due to finite amount of matter and infinite amount of time. In this eternal recurrence, the plane crash will repeat - again and again. But if life triumphs over logic, the only meaning is life then is the will to power, that means the big guy will always be in charge here.Bravo Nolan.

>>290509900In the postmodern world, trying to define what is and isn’t art is a pointless question. Art is whatever the observer considers it to be. An isekai harem power fantasy can be art, Coppola’s films can be art, a werewolf Beauty and the Beast rape fantasy can be art, and The Brothers Karamazov can be art. But that doesn’t really mean anything by itself, especially when all of these works are trying to accomplish completely different things. The standards we use to decide what counts as “quality” can only really exist through some kind of consensus among people who are given the authority or status to make those judgments. But that consensus doesn’t necessarily have much credibility either, especially in a world where consensus can be just as arbitrary as profitability. The commodification of art has always existed to some degree, but now it is unavoidable. Academics increasingly treat the question of “what is art?” as something of a dead end because there isn’t really a definitive answer anymore. At the end of the day, what counts as art is ultimately up to the observer.
>>290512824The question of "Is this art" has always been retarded as anything that's made is art, the real question is whether it is good or not. Anyone with real hobbies that isn't just consuming stuff doesn't care whether what they do is art be it a gardener or a rugby player.

Anime simply does not and cannot compare to mediums like music, film and literature, for a multitude of reasons, and it will never be a respected art form in any way, shape or form unlike the aforementioned mediums. Even rap music is a more respected art form to partake than anime, and that should tell you something about anime as a medium. There's only a few anime that can hold their own against the gross entirety of compelling and meaningful films from the likes of say Tarkovsky, Bergman, Tarr, Fellini and Bresson like Otomo, Oshii and Kon.But even then, any comparisons immediately fail, as the whole of the medium (anime) taints the few decent or good outliers, and still yet, Otomo, Oshii and Kon are the exception, not the rule.
>>290514821eva, lain and utena are probably bad examples because to certain anime fans they may in fact surpass much of cinema. but he's right about harakiri specifically being on the same level in terms of themes, presentation and symbolism.

>>290501495The first two episodes are objectively supposed to be pleb/normalfag filters (the shitting scene is from a much later chapter, they put it early on purpose). Rest of the show has a much different tone. I'm not going to claim it's some deep masterpiece but it's a comfy comedy.
>>290504150>four or five great fantasy TV anime every seasonalmost fell for this bait, pretty good anon
>>290514887Winter Light is a well made movie with dogshit characters and is a really, really lame take on God's silence.
>>290516474>you're still wrong about half of them being obscureOk bitch boy, here's the list. Out of 47 movies we got:>only 8 above a million>less than 30% above 500K>less than 50% above 300K>over 36% below 100K>some are so obscure only the director and his mother watched themNow shove a dick up your ass you fucking faggot.
>>290518046lol. if you actually watched movies you'd even know about blue spring pretty early on, even though it appears toward the bottom of your list. your efforts are in vain, and you are still very much a plebian.stay mad.
>>290490739>gets mad at media quoting media>can only express this through quoting critics
>>290518046me again. it's actually very funny that you dont see the irony in trying to claim wong kar wai films like fallen angels, or takeshi kitano movies like outrage, john woo films like a better tomorrow are actually obscure among people who even have a slightly above average interest in cinema.again, you're just proving yourself wrong by making this list.
>>290514887>2001: A Space Odyssey>Not a pseudointellectual wankJesus christ anon, get a grip. If you're going to use this argument, at least get better examples.
>>290518046Thanks for the list anon, going to watch all of these that I haven't seen already.
>>290518046also tantei monogatari is a takashi miike movie. if you dont know who that is you should just shut the fuck up.
>>290493314>>290501434>>290503545>>290504136>>290504646It's a grossout slapstick comedy about catgirl drug addicts. The OP is largely comprised of films typically viewed as 'artful' being put on the same level as shlock. Trainspotting and Dumb & Dumber are right next to each other, and the Fight Club shot is interspersed with a direct visual call to the scene in Scary Movie 4 where Charlie Sheen takes Viagra. If you get mad about this, you're probably retarded.
>>290518046Yeah I’m a pleb and I’ve seen over half of these and know of most of them. You are just a zoomer pleb then
>>290490739Fujimoto is LARPing as a cinephile
>>290490958it's fun in an intro. Imagine Garfield and Friends with Garfield acting like Frankenstein for a 2 second clip in the intro. It's funny because it's Garfield. Having your main content be homage is detestable. Tarantino and PTA NOT excluded. The fact that Christopher Nolan denounce the Bond films as "boring" except for On Her Majesty's Secret Service because "That's the only one with anything worth stealing from" is DISGUSTING
>>290519366yeah fuck tarantino honestly. the entirety of his first feature (reservoir dogs) is ripped directly from the last ~20 minutes of the 1987 hong kong movie city on fire. even the cool three way standoff at the end which i thought was awesome when i first watched reservoir dogs, is taken, shot-framing and all, directly from that movie. pisses me off.not to mention how kill bill is just a lady snowblood ripoff.
>>290519441to elaborate further, it's especially disgusting when it's big-name hollywood directors who do this shit, because any normalfag who sees inception or whatever will go "oh wow" at the cool moments ripped from perfect blue, as one of many examples. being inspired by, and openly admitting to it, like with matrix and ghost in the shelll, is completely different.
>>290518090>>290518164>>290518326>y-y-yes this film that only like 5k people have watched is not obscure>it's d-definitely p-popular I swear!>y-y-you have to get this reference from it otherwise you're a pleb!So butthurt you had to reply thrice! Lol. Lmao even. I can see your salty tears from here kek. That image must have opened you a new butthole. Just because you're a loser with nothing else to do than jack off to obscure films and you've seen maybe half of them, it doesn't make them not obscure you fucking retard. Now go shove a dick in that new asshole I tore you you fucking faggot.
>>290519589this is sad. you are ignorant to the fact of your own epic ownage, by me, simply because you do not watch movies yourself. it's okay to admit you have no interest in movies, there's genuinely nothing wrong with that. but you are arrogant and wrong, and you don't even have the balls to admit it.you're probably the type to have not watched ginga tetsudou 999, or the OG gundam, or urusei yatsura, etc... anime, either. i would even go so far as to say you probably haven't even watched the daicon shorts or gunbuster.
>>290519677Because I'm not wrong you fucking retard. Your claim was that these were all well-known movies to which I replied half of them are not. And the numbers prove me right. And as for anime, forget it. I've watched dozens of titles you haven't even heard of. The difference is I'm not gonna walk up to someone and be like "WHAT? You didn't get this reference to Pastel Yumi? You're a pleb.", hell I'm not even expecting people, even seasoned watchers, to get references to Gall Force or Patlabor despite them being big in their time. Because I am aware of how popular each work is. Arrogant and wrong? That's you you fucking cocksucking prick.
>>290519926you seem incredibly mad over being proven wrong. if you want to talk numbers specifically, on letterboxd (zoomers dont use imdb) blue spring has 60k logs, not 5k. either way you are wrong and just dont want to admit it. my claim wasnt that they are well known, just that they are not obscure. ask anyone else who actually cares, and they'd agree with me.even this guy >>290518880, who has the decency to admit to his plebdom (unlike you), agrees with me.
>>290511681this really is what it feels like reminds me of why so much modern media is ass modern western media this issue to where people aren't consuming classic media or exploring what inspired itthey used to reference classic shit like shakespere, charles dickens, classic films, or music but now they're more incestuous where you have shit like the halo show trying to be prestige television, or lanterns trying to be true dettectiveand the same thing is happening to anime and manga as well where this anime is inspired by this anime and so on
>>290520010Why would I care what trannies on letterboxd do? Plus that site is used more by the filmtards than the general public. The numbers proved me right. Most people don't know a lot of these films, hence they can't be well-known. They're niche/obscure films only people really into films have watched. I am right on this and you're the one refusing to admit it because the numbers proved you wrong and you got so brutally assfucked.
>>290520549doesnt make you not a pleb
>>290520642Yeah, yeah I'm the pleb for not having watched episode 4 of some japanese detective drama from the 70s and you are a massive fucking retard. But everybody could tell that already.
>>290491125And weebs hate when their autistic hobby is not really as life defining as they think.
>>290520859for that specifically? no. evident by everything else you've said so far? yes.

>>290490739That was the most pretentious shit in anime I swear.
>>290520935That's all I've been saying from the beginning you retard. Take out the Japanese stuff, the French stuff, and the less popular 80s stuff, that's like half the movies that are not well-known and only filmtards would know these. Also it's not just about watching the film but recognizing the reference too. Who the fuck would see picrel out of context and go "But of course! That's a Pierrot le Fou reference!". I could have watched the film and still not remember a scene of the dude smoking in the bathtub. You would have to be a ginormous retard to think these are all well-known movies and easy to get references and you clearly are as you've been demonstrating this entire thread.
>>290506111>Its clearly taking a very serious Evangelion sceneIt's a silly Tom and Jerry scene.
>>290521496why does it matter if they are well known or not? it's a fucking meme anime opening for yani neko of all things. i admit that those films are not well-known among non-film buffs. among film buffs though they are not obscure at all. the reason i felt the need to call you out for being a pleb in the first place is because of how you responded to the anon who initially called you a pleb in this >>290497472 post. you seemed so sure of yourself that he hadnt seen blue blazes (and what i thought was pierrot le fou), as if it were a total impossibility, when among people who actually care about the medium, they aren't totally obscure.watch blue blazes, i first became interested in it after seeing it be discussed on /a/, it tells the true story of an aspiring mangaka who felt completely demoralized by going to the same school as the gainax founders, and is cool for anime fans to watch because of that reason. or dont, i dont really care.
>fotm casuals find out their fotm is casual and not real artBig surprise. Watch some real anime. Or don't (this is what you will do).
>>290521714>why does it matter if they are well known or not?Because that's what you claimed initially.>i admit that those films are not well-knownYeah thank you. Could have admitted this basic fact 100 replies earlier.>you seemed so sure of yourself that he hadnt seen blue blazesIs Blue Blazes the issue? I just picked it at random. Could have picked Tantei Monogatari instead, or DEBS or Ju-On or Flashdance or The Yellow Handkerchief. The point is there's a bunch of titles there that are super niche and calling someone a pleb for not getting every obscure reference is retarded. Especially when some of the references are not to iconic scenes but to ordinary ones that you could forget even if you've watched the film.
>>290521930just checked, never anywhere in the reply chain did i mention that they were well-known to the general public. i have always stated that they are not obscure, which is true. the initial post was made by a different anon. you are however trying to argue that they are obscure, when they aren't. you even did it again in this very post>ju-on>super nicheim not wrong for calling you what you are, which is a pleb. it might not be fair, it might not be nice, but it's true, and all you have to do is admit it, and then we can move on.
>>290511463I hate when people talk up 'cinema' or 'literature' or some other prestigious art medium as vastly superior to anime but can't be bothered to name their favorites or even any titles which illustrate this supposed superiority. You're right; I don't care. Recommend me some films which refute my contention that anime generally does fantasy much better than live-action film (and might be worth the time watching), or get off your high horse.
>>290522050>I hate when people talk up 'cinema' or 'literature' or some other prestigious art medium as vastly superior to animei never did this.>Recommend me some filmsmake a thread on /wsr/ and i will consider doing that.>fantasythough i dont care about fantasy as a genre, live action or in anime.
Whenever someone starts posting French or Italian films then you can be sure that they have the most dogshit taste with a double serving of pretension.
>>290522130there are people who do this, even in this thread, but i didnt do this, if that's what you're getting at. i mostly watch asian movies.
>>290501580the point is to showcase things that fujimoto considers to be his influences so you know what kind of tone he's shooting for
>>290522003I don't know to how many other different retards I replied besides you. I started this by replying to the one that called these films well-known which is simply false.>you are however trying to argue that they are obscure, when they aren'tThey are. Do you need a definition of obscure? From Cambridge Dictionary:>not known to many peopleAgain. The numbers proved me right. These might be well-known in your little filmbro circle but they're not to the vast majority of people, hence obscure. And you have to look at the standards that the video sets. You got references to iconic scenes of LotR and Pulp Fiction that millions have watched and will recognize, and a couple seconds later to some japanese film that less than 5k people have watched. And you're trying to pretend it's not a niche film. Congratz, take your Biggest Retard of the Year Award.
>>290499880Crippling depression and the desire to be taken advantage of by an older womsn
>>290522216people whove only seen and recognize films like pulp fiction or lord of the rings are also plebs, yes.
>>290522216blue spring is an adaptation of a taiyou matsumoto manga. it's the film equivalent of ping pong the animation or tekkon kinkreet. would you not also call some anon a pleb if they knew so little about the medium that they repeatedly insisted that only 5k people have watched ping pong? baka aho
>>290522260Sure. But not the ones that recognize half of these and miss some 70s jdrama reference. Now go fuck yourself you fucking pretentious retard.
>>290522130I really recommend the italian movie "nightmare city". It's the only movie I've seen where a zombie uses a submachine gun to mow down a stampeding hoard of living human soldiers.
>>290522313Why don't you use some actual anime numbers? I see Ping-Pong has been watched by 237K people which makes it fairly popular. Now would you call someone a pleb if they didn't get a reference to Lemnear? Retarded cocksucker.
>>290522339>Sure.that sounds like a concession to me. you keep bringing up the 70s jdrama, forgetting that yanineko is a japanese anime produced by japanese people, who are probably more familiar with japanese pop culture than the average westerner.i again ask why it even matters that they should be easily understood references in the first place. it's irrelevant. my only argument is that they aren't obscure among film buffs, and you not recognizing them makes you a pleb. it's a true statement.>>290522426you really have an obsession with cocks and buttholes. are you sure you aren't a closeted homo?>lemnearit's an unfair comparison because as i've already pointed out, blue spring has 60k logs on letterboxd, not 5k. a more fair comparison, going by listing site numbers would be hidamari sketch, in which case yes i would call that person a pleb.
>>290522514>my only argument is that they aren't obscure among film buffs>among film buffsWhich is irrelevant to my argument.>you not recognizing them makes you a plebWhich is incorrect and absolutely retarded thing to say.Did you get every single one of them? Should I call you a pleb for missing some obscure one? I am a pleb because I haven't watched Blue Spring? A live action adaptation. Of a manga. You'd have to be some level 99 weeb to watch that shit. Actually scratch that. No person with self-respect would even watch a live action of an anime/manga in the first place. And yet you expect people to have watched this? You insist this isn't niche? Do you even listen to yourself? And again you get hung up on certain titles and you miss the bigger picture of how a bunch of these are obscure. Closeted homo? Nah. I just enjoy raping your retarded ass all day.
>they aren't obscure among film buffs>No person with self-respect would even watch a live action of an anime/manga in the first placeYou're both retarded. Next.
>>290523011gay retard rapist anon. you're telling me nobody would want to watch lady snowblood? or battle royale? you cant get any more dumber, dude. just throw in the towel man
>>290523044this is the most likely scenario.
>>290523011at the end of the day i'll say i had a fun time chatting with you, anon. and i hope you find the fuckboy of your dreams to help you relieve some of that pent up stress.
>>290513977I have no interest in Yani Neko but I agree. The references aren't even woven i to the story like the Chainsawman webm (never read either), it's just an OP made of a patchwork of references. There's no logic or point, it's just shit the faggots did to get attention and try to have some of the prestige of those films rub off on their slop.
>>290519926Nta but judging french cinema by numbers on imdb is dumb, using AlloCine would be more relevant. "Pierrot le fou" and "Adieu l'ami" are both among the most watched nouvelle vague films, by virtue of featuring Alain Delon and JP Belmondo, two of the most revered french actors. You're a faggot and type like the assblasted closet troon you probably are.
>>290525401>I never read either but I agree"Too many people have opinions on things they know nothing about. And the more ignorant they are, the more opinions they have"
>>290493314>taking scenes from movies and replacing the actors with their shit charactersReminds me of when ponyfaggots used to draw every fucking character they knew of as a pony, nuking the image search results. Those and the "all female cast only" crowd really give meaning to the "evil cannot create" quote.
>>290525589I don't need to have read either to support my argument you butthurt fag. Yani Neko's OP is indeed divorced from its story and a vain exercise in "LOOK REFERENCE", while Chainsawman's references clips are excerpts from the movie itself.
>>290525641I'm someone who read/saw both. I'd say you are correct.
>>290525641>Yani Neko's OP is indeed divorced from its story>I don't need to have read eitherSo you just... know? You're wrong by the way. The references in the OP do fit the show.
>>290525748>You're wrong by the way. The references in the OP do fit the show. How? The OP is nothing more than a collection of rotoscopped movie excerpts. Even if they managed to shoehorn them into the actual episodes, what meaning would they have? How the fuck does the "tyler durden looks at the camera and the film shakes off the projector" fit in?>>290525683Cool.
>>290491125This lol
>>290490739It makes sense in Chainsawman because Fujimoto is a movie autist.
>"I'm a movie autist">exclusively watches mainstream shit from the 60s onward
>>290525748Kansai likes to make jokes so she's the reference in the middle; Hame gets mad playing video games, so she's the bottom one. As for the top one, I don't see any connection on that. They matched some of the references to the nekos, but I'd still say Anon is right about it being divorced from the story. This looks more like they just fit the references with the right characters. These movies are pretty irrelevant to Yani Neko, to my knowledge.
>>290525803>How?>what meaning would they have? There's no deep meaning since it's just a slapstick comedy first and foremost. I was just saying that the references fit the tone and theme of the anime.Like Yanki actually fell from the roof in one chapter, Kansai is a failed comedian and Hame is prone to rage when playing fighting game. They are all similar to what happened in to show and manga, just not exactly what happened.
Makes the niame more 3DPD.
>>290525971So you're admitting those aren't actual scenes from the episodes, just pointless rotoscoped scenes from movies with the actors swapped with the characters. You conveniently avoided the example I chose. Fact of the matter is that the OP being a string of references to movies was nothing more than a vain exercise in hollow references. At most we could see it as a cynical try to leech prestige by saying "look how knowledgeable we are about cinema, this isn't just poop humor and nekominis, this is as good as those movies, please watch it". It's shit.
>>290490958Chainsaw Man did the same shit way before Yani Negro
>>290526809>cynical try to leech prestige by saying "look how knowledgeable we are about cinema, this isn't just poop humor and nekominis, this is as good as those movies, please watch it"I think you are reading into this too much. It's not like they were baseless references either.>It's shitYeah I can tell you hate it and it clearly influences your opinion on the matter.
>>290506130There's a very small handful of actors I remember.Because they don't really matter. All they need to do is be good at what they do, and be able to do whatever role they've been assigned well. There is no reason to remember who the fuck they are for that, and in fact, the less they make you think about them, the better they are.
>>290507058>They just scream "Name a more WELL-WRITTEN character than Walter White" or GoT or whatever. It's literally just people screaming Highschool lit-class terms that they half rememberedDon't forget about throwing around terms like "hegelian dialectic" and "hero's journey" without any actual analysis.
>>290513977>create show about how smoking is shit, actually>take times in movies where smoking is shown as cool>reframe it through your loser charactersWoah, deep.
I think a lot of anons have lost the plot itt. These references fucking suck because at the end of the day its photo-copy-of-a-photo-copy creative imbreeding that exists only show off how "artsy" the show is in an adolescent way of doing so. Sure whatever referencing Pierrot Le Fou and all of these other movies aren't so bad in an isolated case, but its pretty clear that this show is trying to flaunt how cultured it is by the entire selection itself. Not to mention that this is a dogshit show that relies on gross-out humor and viral-marketing to be remembered. At the end of the day its just a shitty show haphazardly vommitting references because that is all that 21st century media in general knows. It's tasteless and raunchy the way poor people in Walmart wear pink camouflage with plastic jewels embroidered on them.
>>290498870That's a very shortsighted opinion. Each story is unique. I take Baccano! or MoNoNoKe over Avatar and No Country for old men anyday. People really should stop generalizing mediums.
>>290528115Why do you keep ASSUMING that they did it because they think it will somehow elevate a gag anime into high art?
>>290523066>or battle royale? The film came out as an adaptation of the novel. The manga hadn't started yet.
Art isn't real, it's post-hoc justification for things we enjoy
>>290528265Because going out of your way to reference 20 arthouse films isn't really something a regular gag manga does. You're bullshitting if you think this is the same as say Pani Poni referencing an artsy movie like Space Odyssey which everyone has more or less seen and is still in the public conscious as opposed to this specifically picking arthouse films that are only known by those in the niche. Not to mention that the precedent has already been set with Chainsaw man "We're not making anime, we're making cinema", which is exactly what Chainsmoker cat is following suit. You really have to do a ton of devil's advocate not to come to that conclusion.
>>290528913>going out of your way to reference 20 arthouse films isn't really something a regular gag manga doesThe references are only in the OP.>We're not making anime, we're making cinema", which is exactly what Chainsmoker cat is following suit. The anime itself didn't try to be "cinema" though, it's just a silly gag anime through and through. If you actually watched it you'd have agree.>You really have to do a ton of devil's advocate not to come to that conclusionI think you are reading into this too much and you're probably seeing it that way because you're biased against it. Like I said before, all the references are contain in the OP and they are all smoking because it's an anime about a chainsmoker. Also I don't think Resident Evil Extinction is an arthouse film.
>>290528027But there are a lot of scenes where no one's smoking. I don't even remember Alex from Flashdance smoking except in the depression scene.>>290527110How are they not baseless?
>>290529466See you're just intentionally misunderstanding and ignoring my points. You're going for a Resident evil movie when there's a slew of arthouse movies that primarily make up the OP. It's doing the same exact shit that the most popular anime of the 2020s was doing with its OP. At worst its pretentious wankery, and at best its mindless references. I don't even see how its something to stand behind. For all I know I'm talking to one of those Russian or indian engagement farmers with how much you're ignoring what I'm actually saying while saying enough shit to keep me replying. fuck off
>>290529466>The references are only in the OP. The anime itself didn't try to be "cinema" though, it's just a silly gag anime through and through.Nta but that's the point he's making. Why would a silly comedy have an OP that's for some fucking reason made of copied scenes from movies?>I think you are reading into this too much and you're probably seeing it that way because you're biased against it.Empty words. If anything you're the butthurt faggot grasping at straws to defend it.>Like I said before, all the references are contain in the OP and they are all smoking because it's an anime about a chainsmoker. That's exactly what makes the OP look like a cynical marketing tool. And no, they're not all smoking you lying faggot.>Also I don't think Resident Evil Extinction is an arthouse film.Reading comprehension.
>>290529534How are they not baseless?>>290525748>>290525971>>290529637It's just my honest "opinion" Like, why would they reference films like RE:E or LoTR or Ju-On if they just want to be artsy like you say.>>290529658>Why would a silly comedy have an OP that's for some fucking reason made of copied scenes from movies?Because it's fun and made for a good viral marketing.>they're not all smokingMost of them are. And this >>290525971Again, this is just my opinion. I see nothing wrong with anime referencing western media. They did it many times in many anime, old an news
>>290525544French cinema is a niche. I know people that have watched thousands of films, mostly Hollywood, and never touched French films.
>>290517894I find it hard to believe that anyone on this board has watched that movie

>>290531853I have seen it. I like Bergman but its so uninteresting. "If God quiet then why nuclear bombs" and then the priest is a pushover mediocre man. I guess it illustrates a good picture of Europe/Sweden in its dying breath culturally, but its a lame sight to see regardless. Wild Strawberries is way better.
>>290529921>why would they reference films like RE:E or LoTR or Ju-On if they just want to be artsy like you sayIf you make a slideshow with 2/3rds of your movies being arthouse movies, then you're clearly appealing to something you numbnut. Hell Tarantino is known for making references to all types of movies
>>290490739The gojo comparison and missile afterwards are not similar in any shape or form, and the explosion, beheading are not similar, not referenced at all.
>>290490739>Hates pop culture references in anime.>Watches anime.Lol.

>>290537901depending on who you ask, a good number of them. it's a pointless distinction though.
>>290528342>The film came out as an adaptation of the novel. The manga hadn't started yet.you are right about that, but it doesnt change my point that there are plenty of well worth watching live action manga adaptations.i just watched another one, my broken mariko. incredibly well produced on a technical level. it even won an award for best screenplay at the fantasia film festival (held in canada) in 2022.that guy is simply retarded.
>>290529921You literally conceded all the points I made, with the only reservation that you still like it and don't think those make Yani neko a bad anime. Fuck off this isn't an zrgument you're just coping.
>>290540850Yeah, I'm not argue with you anymore since we both had already made up our minds. Like, you didn't even watched the show or read the manga (and even openly stated that you hate it) yet assumed that the references in the OP are just baseless references with "no logic or point" "that exists only show off how "artsy" the show is" I don't even know why you think that a gross-out gag anime about a chainsmoker catgirl want to be artistic, film-like in the first place.
>>290541546>I'm not argue with you anymore>proceeds to continue arguingalso, your ESL is showing>I don't even know why you think that a gross-out gag anime about a chainsmoker catgirl want to be artistic, film-like in the first place.i do agree with you here, and before the other anon replies with "because it's in the opening, it clearly wants to be seen that way," i think you're reading too much into it. from my perspective it is simply a meme opening for the lols, and if you get butthurt over it, you're probably just easily annoyed by minuscule shit very often.
