Butcher only made 2 tweets about this movie so far. One claiming he wrote the script 15 years ago and one tweet yesterday saying it's coming out today. That should've already been a bad sign since the start, since he's basically saying they've definitely fucked around with the script and he wants nothing to do with the final product now. And most of the video promotions for this movie, including the seiyuu interview last year where they were literally telling you how to feel about Kyubey and Homura's actions, and that Homura is lowkey the true protagonist instead of Madoka, should've massively lowered your expectations. Then they had the OP by the people who sang the Exedra OP instead of ClariS and there is no part in this OP nor the new song "Links" from ClariS about this series that was a leitmotif except from Connect. And then they revealed that the Revue Starlight movie (style over substance pretentious cliche dogshit) director worked on this movie and featured an awful scream by Yuuki Aoi in the latest trailer, as well as basically showing that the 2 new literalwhos defeated Akuma Homura. I didn't want to be correct about this. I really fucking don't. Fuck everything.

Rebellion wasn't really sequel bait. It told a complete story (Homu finally losing her fucking mind and raping Madoka). Even if it set the stage for future stories to be Homu vs. Madoka, it didn't leave loose plot threads, and characters arrived at the end of their personal arcs. The new film is massive sequel bait, failing to resolve the plot elements it introduces as well as leaving most characters unfulfilled specifically to set up a sequel or trilogy.

Just as Homura was on the verge of giving up, she received passionate encouragement from her friends and managed to restore Madoka’s humanity!! Or so it seemed… but it failed!!
