Anon, even ignoring the chainmail, Princess snuck out of the castle and out of the city on her own, in an attempt to investigate a mountain with suspicious rumors about it. In spite of her having zero training in combat, magic, or stealth. Her whole plan after getting out of the city was to get a cart ride to a mountain and wander around as a defenseless civilian without supplies or weapons, to see if she could figure out what was going on. It is the single dumbest course of action undertaken by any character in the series.
The only reason she hasn't been violated in every hole and/or maimed is because the goblins wanted to sacrifice her to summon a demon. In which case being violated in every hole and maimed might be the preferable fate. That any of these might happen never occurred to her as she planned to play adventurer.

So yeah, calling her "above all stupid" is an absolutely fair assessment.

It was the Dungeon of the Dead. After Sword Maiden’s party killed the demon lord there, the dungeon lost its enchantments and stopped producing new wealth. As such it was stripped bare in a few years and people abandoned it and the city that had built up around it as there was no longer anything to make a living off of. Now it’s just an abandoned ruin in the middle of nowhere. Not worth anyone’s time to check on as normally nothing serious would build up there. It’s basically a couple days travel into mountainous wilderness now that there’s no logistics to maintain it.

That's not really a reason to criticize Kurose's current work. Not only did the anime do better, but he also did worse than the light novel, which had the different sects casting their buffs with the prayers specific to their god. Emphasizing that Sword Maiden showed up with a couple hundred temple guards/paladins; a small army of warrior priests.
This is just some generic knights, with only the mention of Valkyrie to suggest they're from a different faith than Sword Maiden. And the placement is likely to confuse people into thinking it's Sword Maiden invoking Valkyrie. Which appears to have happened to the official translator give they put "Valkyries" when it's a specific goddess Valkyrie that's being invoked.

I will agree this chapter seems rushed. Granted the end of the LN volume went quickly from the demon hand being dead to the entrance scene, so that' part isn't too unusual. But one of my complaints is that the manga skipped most of this bit:
