Chapter 3 raws are up, TL remains to be seen. https://kuragebunch.com/episode/12207421984035753904
Dump thread?
Waiting patiently.

Waiting warmly while girls are working.

>>290530998Thanks.
Just kill time with a TKMZ thread for now.
translate it weebs
What killed the hype?
>>290536031Nobody's posting the raws here like they did for Shimeji Simulation and the first chapter of this. So we just have to wait for the translation to be dumped.
>>290536073That's an effect, not the cause
>>290536073i may be misremembering this, but as far as i know, when shimsim released the chapter wasn't behind a paywall for a month, so getting the raws in the thread on time was easy. Now we and the translator group have to wait (hope?) for probably one guy that has the subscription to dump the raws.Besides that /a/ is a lot less lively compared to 2+ years ago when we had the last threads
I personally enjoyed chapters 1 and 2 a lot and am looking forward to the third one a lot!It does feel like there isn't that much hype around it, but from what I recall there wasn't massive hype for ShimSim early on and it built up more over time, we'll see what happens with FotLC.
>>290536711I don't think Shimeji Simulation had free online chapters. And I don't think the scan group was using the public raws. So they had to buy the magazine still. Maybe I'm wrong though.
One thing I think could harm FotLC compared to SSR and SS is that for a series with cute girls it helps when people grow to like the cute girls, want to see more of them and do a lot of fan art of them, which happened a lot for SSR and SS, but for FotLC since each chapter has different cute girls, we have less time to build up an appreciation for them, our attention is split and each one will end up receiving way less fan art.Even with that handycap I must say so far the cute girls have been very cute.
I wonder when we'll get Gardener's backstory.

Done.
>>290540630>Why are EVIL PEOPLE taking away my rights and peace with WAR and SLAVERYBirth and death are the only constants in your little bubble of perception, everything else must be fought for with everything you have for as long as you have anything to fight with, and the only reward you are granted in the end is the repose of death. It's just useful to remember that these things are fragile and ultimately pale in the face of the greater forces. You aren't owed freedom and happiness, conditions were carefully and meticulously constructed to allow these things to come to pass for you.

>>290540733I like it. Not as much as the eel though. Still feels like tkmiz though, you think you are going to get hit with a cold normalfag take like Kino’s Journey then something is thrown in to remind you it’s not so simple. Kinda cool to see the Ukraine war start showing up in fictional depictions of futuristic wars. >>290540065The real question is how you make a chubby robot.

>>290551475Why is she so tiny? Wait.
>>290551985I'm not certain that the metaphysical is material (heh) to this topic. I can't stop you from framing a position where a higher power that exists outside of our reality promises boons and great bounty, but this is not verifiable. The world we live in, this material realm, it owes you nothing. The life that you lead here was brought into being through human systems and human labor.
>>290552151>The world we live in, this material realm, it owes you nothing.Sure, from the point of view of objective laws of physics you may be right. What I meant is that, despite this, humans always have been predisposed to believe that they ARE in fact owed something by the world.
>>290552385I know. That's the theatre I spoke of. I'm not being dismissive of it, it's a necessary part of human existence - but it is, like all things fabricated by man, fragile. We live in a world where we expect certain treatment from our peers and we trust in the rule of law and we take comfort in the massive human systems that ensconce us, but these things are not our birthright. They were crafted by those that came before us and it is in our interest to maintain them as best we can.
>>290540688Oof, this one was sad.
>>290552482Very well said, anon, I wholeheartedly agree. These systems being dependent on people themselves, and their historical continuity was exactly the point I was going to make myself.
>>290552385>>290552482
Tkmiz delivers again! This was a good chapter and once again over 30 pages. It's not surprising we got a chapter about soldiers, but I was not expecting erudite combat prostitute androids. The philosophizing about rights felt like classic tkmiz to me, I'm not sure I have much to say about it other than what was already said.
If you think about it then having the blonde girl be the well-read one is new ground for tkmiz.
AGI (artificial gaydar intelligence)
Honestly she doesn't even seem all that chubby to me.
>>290540065She is indeed cute.
>>290540411>services to girls>carrot imagerywhat did tkmiz mean by this
>>290553718She's a rabbit robot.
>>290553718She is fully functional.
>>290553265It feels as though we've lost some anons over the years. Threads for tkmiz manga were never the most bustling ones on the board, but we've definitely seen higher post rates. Maybe it just takes a few months to get the engine up and running again...
>>290553718Come now anon carrots aren't even that phallic, get your mind out of the gutter, there's no way an educated combat prostitute bunnygirl android would have a thing like that,
>>290553758with all the chapters being self contained stories, it's a bit hard to muster any deeper discussion about anything. we've already read the stories that show what all of this culminated in, so we have a rough idea of what is going to happen going in. the only thing that tkmiz can offer here is character interactions, and the character interactions are good, but there's no overarching direction or mystery to poke at. we're just along for the ride and we might see some neat people along the way.
>>290553758>It feels as though we've lost some anons over the years.I also get the same impression, I sure hope that just means they got real lives and are touching grass right now and nothing bad happened to them... Tingle anon ;_;>Threads for tkmiz manga were never the most bustling ones on the boardI would actually argue that for a decent portion of ShimSim the manga threads were super active and when one thread would die another one would be made even if there was nothing new to talk about, it almost just became like a chatroom instead of a manga discussion at times.>Maybe it just takes a few months to get the engine up and running again...I hope so also, but even though so far Fragments of the Layered City has been really good and tkmiz still has a lot of fans, I suspect it won't be like it was in the past ever again. For one thing an episodic anthology format lends itself less well to developing a deep fanbase with deep discussions in my opinion. And secondly the whole internet and 4chan and /a/ in particular have been developing in ways I would consider pretty negative so I am not very hopeful.
>>290553871>it almost just became like a chatroom instead of a manga discussion at times.Hah, I still have a bunch of the sounds that anons would post. Let me see if this one still works.
>>290553871>And secondly the whole internet and 4chan and /a/ in particular have been developing in ways I would consider pretty negative so I am not very hopeful. The humanity has declined...
Even if there aren't as many of us now as there used to be, it can still be nice to be with tkmizfriends.
It's funny, you can literally see her bunny ears from page 1, but my mind did not register them as such until after she explicitly revealed them.
>>290553976It is nice, and thank you for the transparent. Nice work.>>290554018In fairness, it's not exactly rendered in the most detail.
>>290553758I checked out at the end of ShimSim, but with this new Fragments chapter, I felt compelled to see if /tkmiz/ was still around in some capacity. Like >>290553871 said, the Internet - and consequently, the general tkmiz sphere - has sharply declined in the past few years to the point where I grew disillusioned, and I wouldn't be surprised if others felt the same way.Anyways, I was skeptical about the idea of tkmiz revisiting the setting of GLT, but I must say, it's been nice so far. The fish has still got it.
>>290550299That was actually really cute and nicely animated, I liked it, thanks for the recommendation anon. But it's not very related to the thread, other than the fact that it has two girls in a post-apocalyptic setting.>>290554063I used to prepare screencaps and transparent cutouts of ShimSim so it felt only right to prepare some for FotLC as well.>>290554117Yeah tkmiz has still got it, it's been really good so far. I just hope tkmiz is doing a SSR prequel because he really has more to say through this and not just because he was pressured into expanding more on his best known franchise, or god forbid because he doesn't have new ideas for new settings.
Fragments of the Layered City / Kaisou Toshi Danpenshuu is too long to type out every time, so what is your anons' preferred shortened name for this manga?FotLC, FLC or KTD? Or perhaps something other than an acronym like KaToDa?For SSR I prefer SSR, but GLT is also okay. And for SS it's simplest to say SS, but I also think ShimSim is fun to use.
>>290554117I think he just really likes the idea of weaving his way through a single setting in multiple works. There was no real reason that GLT and SS ought to have been connected, but they were - and it was interesting. If he insists on continuing this approach, the one thing I'd love to see is something set AFTER the events of GLT and SS. Maybe something more hopeful.
>>290540668>>290540688>>290540715>>290540733Just like in Planetarian..., it makes me awful. Why are humans so fucking stupid? Why can't humans get along like other animals do? They're simple-minded, and they probably live their short lives happier than we do. We're more intelligent, and yet we can still be more stupid than them.I wonder if it's just human nature to be evil and sadistic, or if this is the weight that comes with a higher level of consciousness.
>>290543241I know I probably won't get a real answer, but why do you think so?
>>290554277>or god forbid because he doesn't have new ideas for new settings.Working all your life on the same setting is not inherently bad, see: Kawakami
>>290554406I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but war and cruelty are not unique to humans.
>>290554454It's not an excuse, you know? Other animals have a more limited level of consciousness, and their instincts take over most of the time. They do those things for survival, while we often choose to do them willingly instead of trying to solve things in a more intelligent way. That's what makes it even worse. We have the ability to reflect on our actions, understand their consequences, and choose differently, yet we still deliberately hurt each other. I think humans can be even more stupid than other animals.
>>290554529It's not my intent to justify cruelty, I just take issue with the framing. Many of the animals that you might view as "simple-minded" are likely far more intelligent than we realize. It has only just begun to dawn on us that songbirds of the same species, but from different regions, speak (tweet?) different... languages, for lack of a better term. There so much about non-human intelligence that we have only just begun to understand, I wouldn't write these animals off so casually!
If 4chan still had an IP counter I wonder what we'd see here, I think it used to usually be over 100 back in the SS days. I suspect it's not so high right now.
>>290554568I didn't say that other animals aren't intelligent. I was talking about their level of self-awareness. They live more simply, and they're true to what they feel (we can't even do that shit). In some ways, they are more intelligent than us, that's for sure.
>>290554685For this thread, right now? I'd guess twenty or thirty tops. ~30 posts are just one anon dumping the chapter and there have been several discussions running between what are presumably the same group of anons.
>>290553575she isn't supposed to be
>>290553575It's all relative. The corporal might be skin and bones under that uniform.
>>290554720Fair enough. It's not all doom and gloom, though. The human race has been surviving its own deadly foibles for longer than history has recorded. No, not just surviving, great progress has been made in spite of these perceived deficiencies. I don't think that the human race will drive itself to extinction. I have hope.
>>290554833>I have hope.lol, I wish I was that optimistic.
>>290554781I seem to remember early SS chapters getting around 30-40 per chapter. This one being a short prequel, I doubt we'll get a lot of brand new posters.Which is fine by me. I like comfy small threads better.
>>290554685IP counters are unreliable

>>290540733Thanks for the dump. A bit of a weaker chapter compared to the last two, the story was light and I was unimpressed by the dialogue on where rights come from. It reminds me of the earlier SSR chapters where Chito and Yuuri explore aspects of human society, but with characters that I haven't had time to become attached to.

>>290540733Arigato!
>>290567193arrakis is harsh...
>>290554406I wouldn’t say that humans are evil by nature. In reality, wars arise from our inability to understand/accept other people. An animal attacks another when it feels threatened, this goes beyond any logic or reason, it’s pure survival instinct. We see the same thing in politics, when one side genuinely believes that the other side’s victory would mean its own extinction. Sharing a territory with a different culture can create the fear that, over time, your own culture might be replaced, leading you to view those people as a threat to your worldview. The process in war is similar: a clear belief that the mere existence of something poses a threat to you, combined with an inability to coexist with anything that might suppress you. Would you change your language and way of life for the sake of appeasement? In a world of finite resources, would you hand those resources over to strangers rather than to people you know? Most people wouldn’t and that’s where the complexity lies. Accepting and coexisting with others also means giving things up and, in a sense, punishing yourself.
>>290554529Violence is the primal mover from which all morality originates. Our "Higher reasoning" hasn't removed the fact that if one party wishes to do you harm, no amount of moralizing or reasoning will guarantee you make it out unscathed. The existence of violence necessitates it be considered at all times.

>>290554454Mammals tend to have more intraspecies violence than birds, and humans are on the bad end of mammals even. The median male death was being killed by another human until very recently. But we are also mostly exempt from being preyed upon which is nice, most animals don't have that luck.
>>290553575It probably meant chubby as in "not japanese size", e.g. full-figured or stacked.
I like this series. getting to see more of the GLT world is pretty cool.
>>290554568I think if I could have gone to college I would have wanted to study non human intelligence and animal behavior. College in America is for the rich and lucky though so it can’t happen. I’m not sure how I’d even pursue independent study in this since the subject isn’t so universal and established like biology and chemistry I never learned how to learn either
>>290554018I saw them, and assumed they were earmuffs.

>>290561309You were the E.Y.E. Anon? Cute that you're still around.>>290540733This last page where their eyes meet really sells the story to me, beautifully tragic. I am enjoying this so much.

I just don't really post personal stuff anymore. It's been super nice to read this, I always loved SSR more than ShimSim, even if the latter was great.
>>290582552That chapter 1 redraw was fun. It would be fun to do something like that again.
>>290583282I'm game for it. I think my submission to the last one was pretty low-effort, so I'd like to give it another shot
>>290581077Subfields like that with tons of interest but little direct economic application get dominated by the well connected, so rich normalfaggots. When people of normal backgrounds go into biology we end up cranking out crop yield gains and new drugs, not exploring the mysteries of the animal brain.
So this is just rehearsed shit from his previous work? So unoriginal.
>>290530998I wanted to keep that thread alive a little longer but I was too late.
Really enjoying it so far. I don't see the point in expecting this to be as big as the other two series, oneshot collections never are.My one thing is that I'd like to see him explore more kinds of characters. Like yeah I love his hair color yuri but this is also a good opportunity to do more. So far I think that's why I liked eel the best. It's a change of pace.
>>290583617How is it rehearsed?
>>290585229I'd love to see something from him in a more experimental art style. These super contrasty pieces he made years ago are some of my favorite art that he has ever made.
>>290585229I'd like to see more male characters.
>>290585240He probably meant rehashed, please understand.
>>290585670Does your greed know no bounds? Tkmiz might DIE if he draws too many men.
>>290585424I still think he's one of the greatest when it comes to composition. SimSim had amazing pages, and this chapter had some inspired stuff as well

>>290589223Yes.
>>290540171>humans are all like thatIt's interesting how sexbot resembles a human in appearance, personality, and even seems to bear something similar to a soul due to her reprogramming. Even the way she looks at the end of the chapter looks like something you'd see from a human rather than an android. The thing that seems to differentiate these two is that Aira wishes she had died while Monaka has a basically instinctive desire to fulfill her task, or in other words, a desire to not be dead. I guess that is something that separates humans from androids, in that humans have the ability to despise living to such a degree as to want to relinquish it, while beings such as animals or androids have it programmed into them to survive or to do their intended task.
>>290591211>while beings such as animalsExcept possibly Tarsiers
>>290540383>>290540411
>>290583282I wonder if we could draw our own "fr/a/gments" chapter? As in, come up with our own versions of not-Chi and not-Yuu and then piece together a short story for them that takes place somewhere in the city.Probably a bit ambitious though, I imagine something like another chapter redraw would be much easier to coordinate.

Often people working at animal sanctuaries or zoos are passionate about what they do, if you ever go to one you could try chatting to them about it?
>>290597143I love animals too, just saying that they aren't the best careers if you are interested in being paid well, most jobs are either research and teaching which aren't paid very well overall unless you somehow get to a private research position or something. There's also veterinary but I'd rather die than do anything related to that.

>>290612743Probably, tkmiz has a habit of recycling characters from his art into his stories
>>290616514She probably designs these drawings for that very reason. So that she has a pool of characters to pull from.
>>290616514Hmmm, like that Tezuka thing where the "characters" are more like Kabuki masks with a preset archetype or something?

>>290633093>Humanity is on the brink of extinction due to a self-inflicted ice age. Navigate the frozen wastes in an ancient military tank fitted with a storage bucket and claw arm. Collect and sell junk, make deliveries between underground settlements, navigate mountainous terrain, and buy upgrades to make your job easier.>Thousands like you have tried and failed to undo humanity’s mistakes. Will your story be different?>Deep Snow Delivery is a game about making deliveries in a snowy wasteland with your delivery tank. Load packages into your storage with the claw arm to maximize storage space and make sure they don’t fall out. Drive carefully through treacherous conditions like mountains, blizzards, fog, weak ice, building ruins, etc. Upgrades can be purchased to make your job easier, like topographic scanners, more storage space, tread spikes, etc. Looks interesting, I like the fact they've actually released a demo rather than just shoving it in Early Access and raking in money from that
>>290633153Girls Last Death Stranding?
>>290633093Is this a strand-type game? No thanks. Also it's not even close to SSR, it's just snow+tank.I swear to god warfags getting into this anime/manga was a disaster.
>>290633454NTA but the dev did claim their main inspiration was SSR, although that doesn't make it an SSR game. Also, warfags are probably one of the less egregious demographics of SSR fans, if we're being honest

This chapter reminded me of Gigolo Joe, who was originally a combat robot in early drafts and then turned to a gigolo
