>>290560965I agree, this is a great first chapter and a very impressive show on all levels.Interesting but simple premise, good, layered characterisation on both the MC and Oni, impressive visuals too. Kuroki had pretty good technical skills ever since David-kun (I was surprised when I looked this up lmao) but this is a massive upgrade imo, he improved a lot. Paneling is good, composition is good, great use of shading tones and crosshatching, backgrounds are good and the characters look great. From the preview I though Onigashima's design was a bit too busy and Kibitsu looked a bit generic but I gotta take it back: she looks great (ribbon is still a bit too much imo but it's not too bad) and Kibitsu especially has great expressiveness and a lot of visual range. The Bokuben dynamic turned up to 11 with the over the top premise is a good concoction for Jump. Shun is a decent writer so I have high expectations now.Guess that anon from jump threads who said they try to keep the best releases for September might have been onto something.

This got a very good premise but the execution is very mid.Romcom factor is very average, the oni chick is superficially a top tier but is clear we will never see any real fanservice. Mc half shy manlet and half secret battle shonen protagonist is not convincing Action is garbage.
