It's been spamming releases from the industry the whole day, and more will come apparently.
>>
Didn't they already have links to official services? I haven't bothered using the site since the great DMCA
>>
>>290580499
I wish they'd fail, but shit things rarely fail.
>>
>>290580725
The site has been borderline unusable today because of the spam.
They've had mangaplus, but this is on a whole other level. Azuki has some times added some themselves, but not at this level.
>>
>>290580499
I don't think they are actually going to go full crunchyroll and I can see the value in being able to follow multiple official services on one website but
>>290580785
I could see it getting obnoxiously spammy for sure
>>
>>290580994
won’t be long before scanlations are banned from the site at this rate
it will be a release site for official releases
won’t surprise me if they sell the site to the publishers as well
>>
>>290580499
I think it's more that publishers are linking the first few chapters just to drum up interest. They're using it for marketing but it will never be a primary reader.
>>
>>290580499
I just rate every manga with a 3rd party link with a 1 star feedback
>>
I hate all of this but if it allows some very niche manga to be easily accessible...then maybe its a good thing?
>>
>>290581289
the death of mangadex will finally allow a new scanlation hub to surface, so that's at least a good thing
weebdex pretty much had no chance because it had no traffic, and comick died because the owner was an idiot without any kind of opsec
>>
>>290580499
never using this shithole again after that literal tranny mod on hrt tried to give a moral lecture about loli
>>
>>290580499
I thought they already went semi legit no? You cant find any large series there anymore
>>
>>290580994
I would buy manga if i had one place to buy it digital. Im not buying physical, i dont need more shit cluttering up my room. If anything i give stuff away.
>>
>>290582827
>I would buy manga if i had one place to buy it digital
So what exactly is stopping you? Kobo, Bookwalker etc all have manga you read. Exclusives are rare.
>>
>>290583226
Bookwalker doesn't work on Kobo wothout workarounds. And thats what i mean, when i buy from steam i can play it on any PC.I dont need to buy a steam deck to play steam games.

Bookwalker, Kobo, Amazon...

>>
>>290582784
they still host literal loli porn though
>>
>>290585990
the owners are literally doki fansubs, who translated loli porn back in the days
>>
>>290580499
Have there been any attempts to archive the stuff that's only ever been posted there? I'm really only here because I'm worried something I might like doesn't have a copy anywhere else.

>>290583368
NTA, but Steam games are playable on any PC, Windows or Linux. Kobo is more like the Switch in that example in that it's a walled garden and you can't take your purchases with you if you ever choose to go for a different brand. This is why games from the 90s are still playable on PC with a fan patch or two and people with consoles end up purchasing the same games multiple times.
>>
>>290586234
pretty much every worthwhile aggregators scrape automatically from mangadex
>>

>>
>>290581289

no
>>
>>290580785
I already blocked all the "legit" localizers. It wasn't that many to make them all disappear for 99% of the time.
>>
dont know why people still use it, all the good series have been removed from the website
>>
>>290586798
Most of the stuff I read is still there, so after some other sites got killed off I keep it bookmarked just in case.
>>
>>290586798
For readers, there’s pretty much no good reason for using it.
For scanlators and uploaders on the other gand, it gets scraped automatically by pretty much all the relevant aggregators immediately. So it’s convenient to upload there.
>>
>>290580499
Blocking the official publishers is easy to do.
What bothers me more is random indie shit seems to be getting funneled into my follow updates list recently. One or two of those I can see myself having saved them for later reads sometime previously, but I've seen a bunch of them that never would've appealed to me, somehow marked followed.
Could be some kind of glitch attributing someone else's follows to my account, but considering the new owners had such a hard on for this shit, I'm not too trusting it's that innocent.
>>
Which script or applications do you guys use to extract your following list from Mangadex? Can you link it please?
>>
>>290587273
>Blocking the official publishers is easy to do.
to do that you need to create an account, and really, who'd want to create an account there any more after what happened last year
>>
>>290580499
Prediction: The anime and manga industry will continue to maintain steady quality, but the localization industrial complex will collapse soon. The amount of weebs will drastically decrease. Only a few hyper fans who crave increasingly Japanese content will remain.
>>
>>290587610
>but the localization industrial complex will collapse soon
this is such a weird take. it's been exploding recently, especially with mtl. they make more official releases than ever
>>
>>290580499
They used AI to implement this bs bot, now the feed is overloaded because it is updating for every single chapter.
>>
>>290586015
The owner and original mods scanlated loli yuri doujinshi but most of them retired and the new mods are anti-fanservice trannies. One tranny mod even fought with that scanlator who liked to make edgy credit pages instead of spending time cracking down on Narutards uploading Boruto chapters on mangadex, despite a site warning about avoiding uploads of Viz America licensed manga due to their DMCA spamming. Those Boruto chapters are what caused mangadex to get kicked out by cloudflare through pressure from Viz America.
>>
>>290587650
Exploding as in the lockdown tourists have been leaving in large quantities since around 23 or 24 and all the sterile shit they chose to mass import is increasingly useless. All while the popular online free sites are ran by redditors who are slowly destroying them. Soon enough, it will all go back to something you have to try a bit harder to find and thus only weebier weebs will remain. What we will gained from this though is that enjoying Japanese content has become socially acceptable, they gave us this and ultimately fucked off, so not all situations are completely terrible.
>>
Also, you have to be a next level retard to implement a feature the community didn't ask for.

I'm reading Illya right now. I've seen her ass, hints of her nipples, the most a teen manga can get away with of pussy, hell I've even seen her asshole. So they at least aren't purging lolicontent for the time being. Although it does seem like they might suppress it. I remember once searching the site on Google and one of the little tabs under it was for the search results of loli, speaking of how used that part of the domain is. But if you went to the actual site you'd think everyone was chinks and fags. Did something happen that curbed the mod? Or are xey just not bold enough yet to start a war against the most lucrative sector of the animanga consumers?

But supporting le dev- er I mean mangaka is wholesome 100. Sure you will end up buying overpriced figures, BDs, imported volumes, etc. But imagine the poor little in-between companies that don't get to siphon most of the revenue selling you a service useless in the age of global online shipping. We must throw our (large) weight behind these companies to be better men of culture.
>>
>>290586400
Kinda reminds me of the good ol days before you could filter by country of origin.
Bilibili used to spam their Manwhaws every day for months. Imagine five 300 chapter series uploading 1 chapter each every 15 to 30 minutes with a near endless flow of these trash comics. Shit was bad.
>>
>>290589020
the only way I'm supporting the mangaka's is by buying the Japanese raws manga volumes, and that's because I don't want their series to be axed
not going to buy any merchandise when it's so ridiculously expensive shipping and tolls
>>
>>290589035
iirc it took a while before you could do that on comick, and even so their most popular works list didn't respect this and showed you manhwa regardless
>>
>>290589209
I "love" how Comick has such dogshit organization that several manga have gotten their existences taken over on the site by some dogshit Manwhaw because they have the same or similar names.

That's actually very convenient to check whether the series should be migrated to madokami or the uploaders are just dead.

More importantly what the fuck is this shit about?
Are groups that repeatedly get their shit deleted permabanned now?
I thought allowing uploads of new chapters regardless of deleted old chapters was intended loophole.
>>
>>290586234
>you can't take your purchases with you if you ever choose to go for a different brand.
You can still use Kobo on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac. It also works via Wine on GNU/Linux. The main thing it really won't work on is Amazon Kindle.
>>
>>290589306
you might be thinking about nucomick, yet another nubatoto clone with zero organization effort or moderation beyond deleting anything owners consider icky.
the real comick is now a tracking/monitoring site without reader (like mangaupdates) and it's still perfectly organized and maintained.
>>
>>290589663
And if you bought an ebook on Kobo 10-15 years ago it will still be available on the newer generation Kobo e-readers.

if over 30 chapters you've uploaded get dmca removed, you get permabanned. not even joking

I mainly use kobo, pretty much everything I buy I remove drm from with calibre/dedrm/obok so I can read it anywhere.

working on licensed series is pretty much a waste of time, so it's not weird that they dropped it
>>
>>290589814
Even then you need extra steps to read on Kindle compared to other devices. Kindles are far more of a walled garden than Kobo. On Kobo e-readers you can simply install other reader software like Koreader while Kindle depends on jailbreaks that aren't always available.
>>
>>290587610
There is no localization industrial complex for manga that could collapse. Only 10% of new manga gets translated and even less for old series, and that's without considering translation quality or release speed. Anybody that actually cares has to learn Japanese.

There seems to be some concerted effort to force Korean and even some Chinese things into Japanese hobby spaces. >>290590005
It just reminds me of time and time again when you hear an anime announced and apparently it was yet another best seller in Japan that we were denied for some reason. The types who do most of the translation are already unsavory types. Makes you really wonder how much stuff they are holding away from us to focus on random bullshit because something in it offends their sensibilities or just because they have bad taste. It feels like the outlook on manga has become worse as the unsavory types flooded this hobby. Good stuff still comes, but we only become aware of it when it is absolutely too big to ignore. I hate having to deal with cultural bucket crabs. I must learn Japanese to achieve true manga gnosis.

the only ones who really cares are the scanlators and uploaders, as it's convenient to upload to mangadex since doesn't alter the files, and it gets scraped by all the relevant aggregators in seconds
for readers, they're most likely better off using other sites
for torrents, it's pretty much just enough using nyaa and subsplease
>>
>>290591321
We must find a way to purge cute aggression out of the world. These "people" are RIDICULOUS. Many such cases.
>>
Has there been any other reliable uploading site like Mangadex? What about Comix? Does it function the same as Mangadex regarding uploading and altering the uploads if required such as decensored chapters and all?
>>
>>290590458
Most manga translators barely know Japanese and are largely oblivious to what's released in Japan since they don't read magazines or check official sites. They'll focus on low level content since that's easier to translate and has more mass market appeal.
>>
>>290589450
nah. i was just using mangadex because it seems usefull, i found some other page to read it and will find other webpage for other shit a friend advice me to read
i like the characters and thats it
>>
>>290591977
the issue is that all that the other sites except weebdex alters the uploads
comix reduce the resolution and quality
not sure if you have editing rights on comix, but I sort of doubt it. if it's out, it's out
right now there's not an awful lot of alternatives. you need to get special permission from comix, and it's pretty restricted.
otherwise you've got places like mangago, mangatato, mangaball but they're not exactly great
people are still using mangadex for uploads since it's the most convenient, and most likely there won't be a replacement until mangadex is dead or doesn't allow scanlations anymore, which is more likely how it's going lately
there's pretty much only place for one scanlation hub like weebdex showed us, so there's probably not going to be a replacement before mangadex is gone
>>
>>290591982
In some ways I wish that Japanese companies would make it easier for us to directly receive magazines. But in other ways, it is good that Japan can still maintain a large domestic entertainment medium without even having to care about outside audiences. I sort of also can larp like I'm an Early Modern European trying to keep the Bible Latin.
>>
>>290591982
even the quality of stuff in japanese magazines is quite poor these days
>>
>>290594214
Weren't most magazines heavily carried by popular series that all have their author's getting sick around the same time nowadays? Most of the rest was always filler. It will be kind of interesting to see how the industry adapts to investing so much into franchises ultimately controlled by writers that may not always feel up to regular new content. I do notice that anime driven projects with the guidance of the original creator are a lot more common nowadays. But this doesn't help the manga industry that relies on the new chapters. Although, since it is so decentralized it isn't like the stagnation of some matters to most of the rest. But you still need some kingmakers to drive future and continued franchises to keep a greater multimedia system running. You can't just mill out isekai and generic highschool drama #n. Perhaps magazines and anime studios should force key mangaka to eat healthy and sleep regular hours so sickness rates decline.
>>
>>290593974
>In some ways I wish that Japanese companies would make it easier for us to directly receive magazines.
How much easier do you need it? Subscriptions have made it extremely convenient to read dozens of magazines even if you don't read every single series in them.
>>
>>290594499
>>290594214
Which magazines do you actually read? Sick authors aren't a universal issue.
>>
I won't be using it, but I am all for a manga hub that encapsulates all the scattered manga streaming services
>>
>>290594778

>>
>>290594499
only a handful of manga in magazines are actually scanlated or officially translated otherwise, it's pretty much only for the big weekly shounen magazines that all of the series are translated, and even weekly shounen sunday and champion have most of their stuff untranslated. if you pick up a random monthly magazine most of the series there aren't translated anywhere. and then we haven't talked about the online readers, which have even less manga translated. I'd guess less than 10 percent of all manga get translated
granted if you actually do what I just wrote, you'll quickly figure out that most of them are trash, and that's why they haven't been translated in the first place. there is a really, really big amount of utter trash not worth translating. you pretty much only see the best ten percent manga
>>

Simple answer to that.
Go to whatever group's mangadex site (Comikey for example) and on their main page click the block button under where the user portrait usually is.
>>
>>290600353
I only log in when I upload my scanlations, and then I use vpn. I'm not going to bother with using vpn on a daily basis, only when uploading things like that.

>Go to whatever group's mangadex site (Comikey for example) and on their main page click the block button under where the user portrait usually is.
have to make an account to do that buddy, who'd want to have an account there after what transpired May last year
>>
>>290600666
Even most of that ten percent is shit then, Lucy-chan. I still feel like there are some things that go under the radar because of translators being retards who desperately don't want certain things to be popular. I expect most of the things that hit as multimedia sensations to be stuff unknown in the West before adaptation.

by far the most scanlators upload to mangadex
even if you use mihon or whatever to download from mangafire or comix or wherever, those sites have ripped those releases of mangadex

I sort of doubt this to be honest. Anything that somewhat decent usually get a translation. Might take a while until the first volume is out for people to notice it, but it's seldom something good goes unnoticed for a long time.

>he thinks uploaders stop uploading if mangadex stops letting them upload
>>
>>290602523
a pretty big amount of scanlators are going to quit when mangadex stops allowing uploads. it's just how it is
I'm probably going to use several less known sites lite comix, mangago, mangataro, mangaball etc as a stopgap until a new scanlator hub that gets scraped immediately arrives like mangadex, and just post it on reddit or something. but it's definitely not going to be as uploading on a site that gets immediately scraped by all the aggregators. it's on hundreds of sites within minutes

That is good news coming from /a/'s longtime beloved manga site.

they went the f95 route and selectively removed the loli content that they don't like while keeping the rest.
>>
>>290581103
Yeah, it took a whole generation of white haired executives and CEOs dying for them to finally understand that the best way to have piracy under some degree of control and oversight is to put the boot on the biggest site out there, not too strong enough to kill it, because of hydra, but enough for it to provide useful marketing and promotional information, as well as not put up a fight when DMCA takedowns come around.

It going "legit" would kill the site, it happened with Crunchy (until it got bought out by Sony), it happened with MangaHelpers. There's no legal business that would be able to compete with the offering piracy has. Doing that would start the rat hunt all over again. I like to believe that they've been mastering the art of keeping the leash just tight enough so people don't bail on them just like the feds and pedophiles on 4chan

>>
>>290581383
Don't even bother with a central hub any more, we've been burned too many times.

>good stuff is spread across so many publishers that having subscriptions to them
Subscriptions like Bookwalker aren't limited to a single publisher. They have mags from Kadokawa, Akita Shoten, Shonengahosha, Futabasha, Hakusensha, Bunkasha and more.
Comic Days is only for Kodansha but for 960 yen per month you still get three weekly and fifteen monthly mags. Either one of them is likely more manga than you can practically read. You don't have to read weekly manga at all
>>
>>290611740

>>
>>290615350
Mangadex is THE big hub scanlators upload to, so bans and restrictions make things worse for everyone. The best thing would be for it to die and get replaced by a less faggy site.
>>
>>290615350
at this point it's more cancer than helpful
several groups are banned from posting on mangadex because mangadex think they're some kind of authority of what should be allowed or not
it'd be better if mangadex died and some more level headed site took over

Still the default place for scanlators
What else are they going to use? Literally who sites with limited upload capabilities and terrible compression? Wordpress+mega? Discord?
>>
>>290607246
>the best way to have piracy under some degree of control and oversight is to put the boot on the biggest site out there
Or they could actually provide a service that doesn't suck shit. Outside of /a/, most people would be willing to pay for a reasonably priced legal way to read manga online if it actually had anywhere near the amount of choice and convenience that MangaDex provided.
But making a worthwhile product is hard, so the geriatric corpos with no knowledge of how the internet works just shut down the competition instead.
>>
>>290580499
I just blocked them so they don't clog my update feed.
>>
>>290616224
Some groups that are paywalling chapters should have their sites taken down too. That problem has only spread as some have gotten away with it. Removing them from mangadex has obviously not done anything there.
>>
>>290618577
it's retarded to fight in the first place, it should be up to the people to not be idiots in the first place. mangadex goofed up hard there
>>
>>290617809
You forget to mention that it has to be translated. Because somehow people that deep into manga that the licensed products aren't enough for them still refuse to learn Japanese.
>>
>>290618922
Compromise and let them post chapters there but add in extra warnings to not give them money.
>>
>>290619021
thay was my suggestion but the mangadex mods ignored it completely
paying for piracy is a scam
>>
Van we just build something on top of bittorrent? Like for each series or scanlator use a simple txt that contains a list of magnet links to chapters. Then the txt itself could live in ipfs/ipns where the scanlators can update it (ipfs is too slow to have the chapters themselves, I tried that already).
No websites, other people can make their own collections using the magnet links for chapters from others.
Just a local software that can track the txt files and then connect to the user's torrent client of choice.
>>
>>290620132
it's not convenient enough, just like irc xdcc died out

weebdex died because of no traffic and exploding server costa because of ram and hdd prices right after launch. it never had a chance to begin with. comick survived because of the massive exodus from mangadex, but died because of the owner’s incompetence

Read the writing on the wall.
Piracy is a dying medium. Corporations always get their way in the end, especially as the internet is being increasingly locked down. Already in the EU and certain US states, you are required by law to have digital ID on every website. Just accept that the wild west is dead.

>>
>>290618964
we're fast approaching a world where translation isn't a meaningful barrier and any device you read it on can pretty accurately translate it on its own
Really doubt we have 5 years to go until translation software becomes functionally flawless and they can just straight up offer things without translation

>>290580499
>can't even read 5 chapters without an account before it bitches

Scanslators won't
>Work on a series already translated
>Work on a series 'officially' translated
>Work on a series someone else is working on even if it hasn't been updated in 6 months
>Work on a series machine translated by an EOP
>Finish if the series isn't popular
Scanslators are a fickle sort.

>>
>>290636417

>>
Maybe the reason they're flooding the site is to get people to sign up and log in so they can block the official publishers? To increase the user count for when they're going to sell the site. The site has pretty much been unusable the past three days.
But then again they're pretty much getting people fed up with the site to find somewhere else, so I really hope it backfires completely.
>>
>>290636268
First two are fine, third is case by case basis, fourth is annoying (and it can be far worse than EOPs, most MTLs are by people who read neither Japanese nor English)

5 is definitely unjustifiable unless the series fell off a cliff quality wise
>>
>>290591268
The worst thing is that scanlators assume that no chapters = can't upload so they don't bother and less thing is getting translated
>>
>>290586234
>Have there been any attempts to archive the stuff that's only ever been posted there? I'm really only here because I'm worried something I might like doesn't have a copy anywhere else.
Seems like MangaFire has most of chapters that used to be in MangaDex, even if they're not in original quality
recently I wanted to read Yamada-san but first few chapters got removed from MangaFire for some reason so I had to go through all the new vibecoded manga sites on FMHY like https://kagane.to or https://atsu.moe or https://mangadot.net to finally find it on https://onisaga.com/manga/mii-chan-to-yamada-san
