Besides being hot, Sera was the most uninteresting character to me and while Alucard was obviously central to the plot, I found his characterisation not interesting enough to root for him. In all Cases, besides maybe the Brazilian Card guy and Maxwell, I often found myself rooting for villains, they were simply cooler and I don't mean that in a "le hecking nazis/tradcaths are the good guys" kind of way.

They were aware that they are on the backfoot and nonetheless committed to their war without hesitation as they saw it as their only moral imperative. Of course literal war was not Nietzsche's intention, nor would he be sympathetic to the suicidal fanaticism, however in the execution Millennium's war could thereotically fullfill both Nietzschean Ideals. After all, they are basically a manifestation of the italian Futurists and they were also heavily inspired by Nietzsche.

I believe 2001 Hellsing is half about Seras and half about Integra. Two young women from different backgrounds dealing with supernatural traumatic experiences. Alucard is less of a character and more like a weapon who talks. Cool as he is, he lacks personality.While Hellsing OVA is half about Integra and half about The Major. He clearly becomes something of a deuteragonist, with plenty of speeches. Seras in this version is something of a "what if" for Integra should she choose vampirism out of despair. Seras is good enough to keep her humanity and even find love, which is almost even more of a temptation for Integra to consider doing the same. Yet she refuses and keeps her (heh) integrity with no compromise whatsoever.Is this her counterpart is The Major, who acts through a similar unbent will but towards evil. That clearly marks how the power of humanity without faith in God is terrifying even for monsters.Alucard is more of a character in the OVA version and yet even less. He is a mistery and a thing to be defeated or contained.Anderson is what Integra could be should she abandon her integrity but kept her faith. Is the hardest combination and for me the most interesting character.
