And Jiraiya said to Naruto that someone needs to do something about all the hate in this world. Pain, of course, was Naruto's predecessor in Jiraiya's discipleship. Defeating Pain means Naruto gains the recognition of the village; his dream is accomplished, if he wants it. But without saving Sasuke, the cycle continues and he becomes merely another Hashirama.
