What I dislike>I think the new witch lore thematically goes against the original series's writing and devalues Madoka's wish somewhat>having the confrontation between the characters over the events of Rebellion be brought along because of new characters robs the existing cast of their agency>the confrontation between Madoka and Homura feels far too quick when the two of them really need to sit down and have a proper talk>making Kyubey the big bad again going forward feels unearned when he'd been thoroughly humiliated so far>this goes together with the general feel that both Madokami and Homudevil are being nerfed because they couldn't write around them being as powerful as they should>Green Kyoko is just there, and just so Kyoko can be there too>it doesn't actually matter what the ending is, it's achieved way too fast for any outcome to feel earned
>>290600649what do madoka and homura have to talk about? homu is just being stubborn, all she needs to say is "I'm ready now"

>>290600649>it doesn't actually matter what the ending is, it's achieved way too fast for any outcome to feel earnedYeah this is how I feel about itI like some of the ideas that have been suggested here but the ending being super ambiguous about everything makes them all feel less impactful. They really should've just talked about everything. You can still have Madoka do whatever she needs to anyway, but at least let Homura say something about it
>>290600722>Lets Kyubey have free access to the LoC through any of the other girlsGreat job, Homu
>>290600970Homura did say something about it. Very loudly. Rebellion is essentially her cosmic space rant about why Madoka leaving was wrong. And Madoka heard it too, just ultimately wasn't persuaded by it.
>>290599425>>290599546>>290596753>Episode 12 is literally a perfect endingOh they'll never top that.>Rebellion is somehow great and has a great ending tooTHEY DON'T MISS>Walpurgis movieUrobuchi bleeds after all. HE BLEEDS.
>>290601007>And Madoka heard it too, just ultimately wasn't persuaded by it.Considering how she was crying at the end I'd say she was. At the very least it's made her do something else compared to episode 12 while still leavingShe still just had to go though because of LoC bullshit. Even with Homu getting her super duper devil form
>>290600849Urobuchi himself said he wasn't convinced about that ending>And Madoka heard it too, just ultimately wasn't persuaded by it.Madoka gave the reason to Homura at the end. She asked Homura for forgiveness before telling her she was her greatest friend for everything she has done (including her actions in Rebellion). It's like it was said last thread, the whole point of the movie is tell "Homura was always right"
I do wonder how Homura returning to the LoC will work when she does actually bite the bullet. Considering that she's kinda not an actual Witch and is still the DevilI don't think the whole dreaming aspect will apply for her since she's already accepted the Witch part of her with flying colors Maybe she will just be having a normal nap the entire time, or maybe she can be wherever Madoka herself is while having insomnia
>>290601070She cries because she's kind and knows Homura is hurting. But she was never ever going to separate from the LoC no matter what Homura said or did.
>>290600649I really don't like the word "agency". It sounds weird and pretentious. >I think the new witch lore thematically goes against the original series's writing and devalues Madoka's wish somewhatOne thing is one thing. Another is another. It's like saying someone wishing ot delete weapons from existence goes against the writing, only because it was revealed later on the obvious outcome that they were invtented by consequence of human actions. I could understand it feeling forced or not very much elaborated how did no one ever accessed it and somehow Homura and Sayaka got in there, but that's another matter.

She knows Madoka is suffering less and she might be able to actually speak to a Madoka that knows what she's been through for more than 5 minutes per universe reset. If Madoka really did have no choice but to leave Homura behind again, I couldn't imagine any way for it to be better for Homura
>>290600018There's no camrip because Japan is a high morals society, please understand. Once it gets released in dirty gaijin countries I'm sure we'll get a camrip fast.
>>290601124>She cries because she's kind and knows Homura is hurting.Holly cope. She's crying because she's sad about having to go back. She says it "Even if no one wants for this world", she herself doesn't want things to end like that but can't leave alone the souls of all the magical girls in the LoC neither.
>>290601124>But she was never ever going to separate from the LoC no matter what Homura said or did.Yeah, probably. It's not a exact remake of episode 12's ending and Homura is still smiling. So even if it's not good it's a better ending for HomuraRegardless the ending should've still been extended and the two of them should've actually had scenes together throughout the movie (at least like 1 or 2). Regardless of what the ending means
>>290601226I don't like the phrase "You need to be over 18 to use this site". It makes me realize we're all old and after this movie came out I'm having sudden fear of death.

Trick or Treat
Selflessness is a core theme of the series. Madoka taking on everyone's despair. Sayaka choosing to accept her death for the good she brought. Even Homura being willing to "shoulder any sin" if it means she can give Madoka what she thinks Madoka wants. It's really sad that so many fans seem incapable of understanding selflessness and view everything through an egotistical lens. They cannot conceive of doing something for others with no return and so they misunderstand everything about the series.

Proof I actually saw the movie. The only way I can put a positive spin on the interpretation of the ending is that Homura no longer harbors such deep self-hatred because literally everyone else encouraged her to keep doing her devil thing. The Law of Cycles may have gained the upper hand in this cosmic tug of war but there's no reason why Homura can't take it back. Thinking on it further, maybe the whole reason this sidequest exists is to justify why all her friends would be on board with Homura when they actually get around to the saving Madoka part, instead of Homura once again going at it alone.

She had become trapped in a cycle as the only thing preventing the end of the world. And her only friend was the only constant lifeline to hold on to. In the end she had enough decency to offer Madoka’s mom her ribbon, even knowing that was the last trace of her. Something the rapist femcel version would never do.I know it’s hard to look back on her in a favorable light after rebellion reframed everything, but that initial tragic heroine is what made people like her. >>290603700One of the more out there ones is that Madoka somehow took on the devil role in order to preserve her existence because she answers the tokagesan phone, presumably because she said/something to rebuff the Law of Cycles, which leaves Homura as... demoted to meguca I suppose. I don't think that's true but it's something.>>290603726She really feels like the writers were taking a jab at the armchair utilitarians who post theories that Kyubey was right, particularly with how grating her voice was.>>290603728I don't think the narrative supports that for multiple reasons. The line drawn between Madoka and the Law of Cycles is made deeper both in the visual storytelling and even explicit dialogue. Homura is told something to the effect of "you're the only one who calls the name 'Madoka' over 'Law of Cycles'" as part of encouraging her. This is a callback to Marguerite/Wasu's desire to preserve the names of her fellows.Perhaps more importantly, that theory contradicts the role of the devil. The devil is someone who opposes the cosmic order, not works with it. And Homura is explicitly told not to do the "right" thing, but to be a devil. The cosmic yin yang theory has been around since Rebellion and might still be in the cards for the future, but it requires Homura to change her role from devil to something else.

>>290604270>The devil is someone who opposes the cosmic order, not works with it. It's just tha she will be playing along with the new status quo until she figures something.
>>290604270>Madoka somehow took on the devil role>Imagine that Madoka now has a harder task due to thatThe writers will need to address the ending seriously because the endings go from very sad to happy. A fan can't live like this.
>>290604270>which leaves Homura as... demoted to meguca I suppose.Homura's ring changed since she became the devil. It her ring at the end remains the same (with the latin runes that indicate her status as devil), she's still the devil.
literally who cares about the new movie or its ending, make up whatever headcanon you want and include your OCs, that's what they did anyway
>>290604270I still like to think the yin-yang theory is true solely because it's still bittersweet enough for me to see it as an end that's still not great but not horrible eitherPlus, if the 'The loC is better because Homura did what Wasu did for Magical Girls, for Madoka, and allowed for Madoka's existence to be intact idea' is true than I could still see it working. Especially if you add on that guy who was tried to connect it to Hegelian Geist a few threads back.
I actually really like theology posting in these threadsOne of the reasons I loved Rebellion so much was all the theological and metaphysical themes.
>>290604522Okay! Sayaka loves me and we go on adventures together and have steamy lovemaking sessions afterwards.
>>290604450I like that we've gone from 'Madoka is a massive cunt and Homura should move on' interpretations of the ending to 'This is too sweet and ends better than Rebellion'We really do need them to explain it
>>290604456>Homura and Madoka are now co-workers and the LoC is their boss
The best part of these threads is that every thread we come up with a new explanation for how the film endsI hope this continues for a week even after a Camrip is out
>>290604614There's something about that which is so Madoka Magica. Like it's a part of the series identity.
Has anyone else tried asking chatGPT to summarize the film based on what Japanese users are posting online?
>>290604659Steins;Gate schizo has already been doing that for days with all of the negative points he can find.
>>290604544Yeah sameAll the themeposting is nice
>>290604683I'm kinda behind I guess, I've been sleeping a lot and was mostly speed reading any threads I've seen the past three days
>>290604730The short of it is he's been using AI to generate negative shitposts about the movie and samefagging at the speed of sound for the last few days. You'll see him posting again in like 4-6 hours anyways.
>>290604730>>290604760He's also been doing this too:>>290603546>>290603641>>290603737
>>290603639yep yepmaduka lost
The way I understand it the state of HomuMado is left ENTIRELY ambiguous
I want her hairy cunt in my face
>>290604850Homura is happyMadoka isn'tAnd that's about everything we can agree onBroadly I think the 'better LoC' idea is the correct oneStuff like >>290578489 >>290544329>>290575083>>290592783>fusetter.com/tw/y8CMIYPJbeing broadly how we are meant to look at it. Although at this point who really knows
>>290603158who did she shoot here again
>>290604950Which would mean that Madoka and Homura are... Well, Homura is still a crazy bitch in love and Madoka is still Madoka. So, not much changes then
>>290604956Sakura Kyoko. You may have forgotten about her. The Magica Quartet did too.
wasu cucking homu doujin better be in c109
If I wasn't busy today I'd try making a guide to all the ending ideas we haveThere's like 9 by this point, right?
>>290604997Good.
>>290604956Wasn't it qb after discovering the truth of soul gems
>>290604997She's the girl who fights Green KyoukoHow could anyone forget her?
>>290604392>>290604450>>290604456Like I said, I don't believe the Madodevil theory is true, because the ending puts so much emphasis on the idea that the devil role is something only Homura can do because of her love of Madoka. >>290604406>>290604526>>290604544It doesn't square with the sequence of both the Law of Cycles and Madoka disappearing. To extrapolate on that, I don't buy the idea that Homura was mindwiped not only because it doesn't align with the affirmation that Homura is the devil. I think it's pretty clear that the intent is that even though she was beaten here, she remains the devil and will continue to fight for Madoka's happiness. On the flipside of that, I can't buy that this is anything close to am unequivocally happy ending because Homura is asleep through those scenes.I just thought of something, that the reason Madoka sheds a tear is because she realizes that she does not have the power to save Homura. Perhaps what she tells the Law of Cycles is to allow Homura to exist as the adversary. This is the best outcome she can come up with because she understands that both making Homura forget about her and trying to force Homura to accept her absence both break her. Which comes back to explaining why Homura is smiling, if literally everyone up to and including Madoka accept and encourage her to fight against the cosmic order, why should she hate herself any longer?

>>290605244>>290605174On that note, remember all the Nietzscheposting spawned by Rebellion?>What if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: 'This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more' ... Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine.'The biggest disjoint between Homura and amor fati was that she was miserable out of self-loathing and self-flagellation. If she's smiling because she's resolved that, then she's overcome that disjoint and meaningfully grown.
>>290605174I mean, it's pretty clearly not an unequivocally happy ending and Homura pretty clearly wasn't mindwiped. Those don't really contradict that idea. If anything it just makes it so that Homura is an unwilling participant to this new order who wishes to disrupt it and regain Madoka. >if literally everyone up to and including Madoka accept and encourage her to fight against the cosmic order, why should she hate herself any longer?Even then something like that could still connect to it if we are meant to see both of them as being the god vs devil of Meguca's in contest with each other. Especially if Homura is a less than willing participant (similar to how most religions where there is a devil see the actual devil)The base still works even if it has to be modified a bit. I'm still a believer
