Feels more like a setup for the current Kasumi & Haruyo since she's a 3rd year in middle school about to take exams like Karin and Kasumi did. There's been a lot of previous chapters showing them studying together as well as the Completely Normal Couple having a big impact on them and they also had big worries about school exams.

She even said the stale backgrounds this chapter, while necessary to make the cram school seem as ordinary as possible, made drawing it feel like a chore.
