It doesn't replace the original due to the script changes, but they redid the art and rerecorded all the music and voice lines and added some minor new scenes, the Moeka route, and an after-true-end scene teasing Steins;???. I would still recommend the original for first read but if you've already read the original and want a fresh experience and don't mind dropping 50 bucks go ahead. No clue about the sales, but it doesn't seem like a lot of people have bought and read it around here.

The characters are too shallow for me to deeply care about them to that degree. I'm sure some people were moved by the story but I just couldn't and I don't know how you can get so attached to this.

Steins;Gate is basically a better Your Name. It has more depth overall and is better written, but it's still Your Name; it's shallow and mainly aims to shock the viewer rather than say something meaningful. Also, the vn is better
