I wanted to see him grow up to be the number 1 hero. I wanted a time skip and new seasons with the cast as adults teaching a new generation with new villains. They ended this shit way too quickly. We were robbed. All that buildup and it just ends. I’m mad. We only got like what, 1 school year? Two? Did the author get bored?
>>
Horikoshi wanted to entail what it would actually take to defeat villains for good and Midoriya growing up to be All Might 2 is not it.
>>
>>290683673
You can’t just defeat villains for good, there’s always going to be new people born with quirks that will choose to do bad things, it makes absolutely no sense that all for one and shigaraki are gone and now the world is at peace forever. This show needs a sequel, all that world building and we only get one in-universe year to see it
>>
>>290683735
>it makes absolutely no sense that all for one and shigaraki are gone and now the world is at peace forever.
Because you didn't pay attention when the series both told and showed you what they were doing to ensure that.
>>
>>290683773
Reforming society, counseling, and empathizing with outcasts is not going to fix every problem in society and prevent new villains. It will help, but to suggest that nobody would slip through the cracks is naive and ridiculous
>>
>>290683773
the problem is that they never showed that
Quirk counseling was a thing pre-defeat-AFO, but now they...do it even more? They never bothered to explain any of that.
And like the other anon said, that won't help with even 10% of all villains.
>>
furthermore, unless Deku is going to create a communist utopia, economic inequality is always going to create villains
>>
>>290683898
You literally have magic quirks that can produce everything, you don't need money. They live in a post scarcity world
>>
>>290683673
>>290683735
The story ends on a timeskip, after which Japan is still living in the exact same "hero society" where superheroes are needed and ranked by their combat prowess because villains still exist. Absolutely nothing was changed or solved by beating AfO/Shiggy
>>
>>290683898
>communism will solve economic inequality
You're funny

yeah, and forcing those people into jobs they don't want is called slavery.

>where superheroes are needed and ranked by their combat prowess because villains still exist.
There are so few villains that many heroes have literally nothing to do. They have so much spare time they can afford to be food critics or go on selfish casual dates with each other. And this is possible because they changed society to end the circumstances and conditions that produce people like Tomura Shigaraki.

Why is reading comprehension so damn hard for you?

That's not how things work. You're only pushing the problem back. There's no assurance against evil. Sooner rather than later someone is going to become a big enough villain for no reason other than he won the super power lottery and is a gigantic asshole.
It's not called the "Never Ending Battle" for nothing.
>>

Choujin X is MHA done right.

There's a lot about superheroes this series just did not get on a profound level. Because it's not really a super hero story. Capes are just a dressing. It's I WANT TO BE THE X battle shounen.

Children's television from the 50s understood that evil cannot be eradicated completely and it takes eternal vigilance to safeguard injustice.

Holy fuck do you people actually read the fucking manga or just look at the pictures?
>>

The same thing they were doing before. Evil doesn't going because you're in a dry spell.
>>
>>290684191
>The same thing they were doing before.
No, you stupid faggot. Actually changing society to prevent people from going down the path of villain is NOT doing the same thing they did before. What they did before was All Might's philosophy, the icon of superheroism. People weren't prevented from becoming villains because "villains" are acceptable targets and understanding people on the fringe of society is HARD.

What you're advocating is for nothing to ever change. For Midoriya to grow up to become All Might 2, to allow destitute and abandoned people to take up the mantle of evil, and to be beaten down by those who bear the mantle of good. For innocent people to suffer so everyone can be entertained by the stageplay unfolding on their streets.

Midoriya refused to accept that, and somehow you don't fucking get it despite the series literally spelling it out for you.

My Hero Academia was a huge sensation in its time, along with Demon Slayer.
MHA and Demon Slayer being super cheesy.

Then came the Chainsaw Man anime and JJK, which really wasn't afraid to kill off its characters.
Chainsawman having more a crude and dark humor than MHA.
After that came Gachiakuta, which has more tragic stories and an uncertain future.

And now we have manga like Ragna Crimson, which takes tragic stories and isn't afraid to viscerally kill its characters, and Versus, which is truly the most original thing in recent years within the Shonen genre.
These two are a real breath of fresh air after years of MHA, with Demon Slayer standing out with its corniness.

It's interesting how things change with popular anime/manga
>>
>>290683773
> what they were doing to ensure that
Did they do ANYTHING? Half the villains in this series had homelessness as part of their backstory but I don't recall them ever addressing it. They just bought Deku a trillion dollar toy so he could pretend he's still in High School and the show ended.
>>
>>290684247
The only reason villains stopped happening is because the writer wrote it that way. Their “reforms” wouldn’t actually change anything. It’s an absurdly naive view of the world to think otherwise, you braindead child
>>
>>290684322
>The only reason villains stopped happening is because the writer wrote it that way. Their “reforms” wouldn’t actually change anything
And why not? Why would helping kids to express themselves instead of leave emotions bottled up until they fester and explode, to help them manage their quirks and find something to work towards not change anything? You're still advocating for nothing to change, for the system to continue working as is and ritually sacrificing the downtrodden as villains for the entertainment of the masses.

Fucking stupid insanity.

>>290684305
Shigaraki Tomura wanted help after he accidentally glassed his family. No one helped him before All For One stepped in and lead him down a dark path.
Himiko Toga wanted to share her interpretation of love with others, but was shunned and reviled instead of others trying to help her find a way to use it to help others. So she was outcast and turned into a villain, which was an easier way to live.
Toya was driven insane by the expectations of his family, ones he placed on himself, because he needed to be a greater hero than All Might to win dad's affection. No one intervened until it was too late.
Jin had lots of trouble with his mental health because of his quirk and existential anxiety, and his criminal past meant no reasonable person would help. Only the League of Villains would.
Spinner went through standard mutant racism, and threw his lot in with the villains because he was already made out to be a villain because of the way he looks.

These people all had issues that could've been addressed before they went too far. Shigaraki could've been saved. Toga could've grown up to be a medic. Actual intrinsic evil is rare.
>>
>>290684496
>And why not? Why would helping kids to express themselves instead of leave emotions bottled up until they fester and explode, to help them manage their quirks and find something to work towards not change anything?
because sociopaths and psychopaths exist, because assholes exist, because sadists exist, because economic inequality exists, because human beings are jealous, spiteful, inherently evil people and no amount of reforms are going to change that. Do you think all for one was evil because he had bottled up emotions and was bullied? The dude was a sadistic psychopath, and no amount of reforms will erase people like him. Like I said, you’re embarrassingly naive. People enjoy hurting each other, they enjoy feeling superior, they enjoy putting others down to make themselves feel good, they enjoy the inequality and the suffering because it makes them feel better about their own lives.
The system needs to continue working as it is because you’ll always have villains and you’ll always need heroes to stop them, unless you’re a naive childish writer that just writes that everything is fixed now even though it’s completely nonsensical and would never actually work that way in reality.

Tell me anon, why did you even read this series? It's way too optimistic for your doomerism mind to comprehend. You literally cannot understand it. Hori fundamentally disagrees with you and you're trying to twist it into something it's not.

it’s called being an adult. Like I said, you’re painfully naive just like the author. To believe that every villain in the world is just a damaged victim forgotten by society is so pathetically stupid. The world is run by villains who kill and rape for sport. Grow up.
>>
>>290684566
Even if this is all true why is that an argument against trying to help the non-psychopaths?
If you manage to filter out all the people who commit crimes due to circumstances you're still gonna get a significant reduction in crime and just have the truly evil left to deal with.

Also just pragmatically it's significantly easier and cheaper to prevent stuff than it is to then spend years chasing after them and cleaning up the damage they do.
>>
>>290684300
>tragic stories and isn't afraid to viscerally kill its characters
retarded teenager
>>
the worst villains in the world are people who were never bullied or forgotten. they’re the privileged, high status individuals who learned to treat the lower classes like dirt and amuse themselves with their suffering. No amount of reforms is going to stop those on top from tormenting those on the bottom, unless, like I said, you’re somehow going to fundamentally restructure the economy and society into some kind of utopia, which is a pipe dream. You’re still not fixing the fundamental human nature at the core of the problem, the cruelty of the human heart. People who were never abused are the most cruel, because they can’t empathize with those beneath them.
It’s fascinating to me that you can post on 4chan and see how people treat each other, and how unbelievably bigoted and evil everyone is around here, and somehow not understand that.

Jesus Christ. That doesn't matter. You prevented a couple Rhino's you didn't stop the Red Skull. This isn't complicated. There are always going to be super villains. It's not always societies fault.

>>290684496

Because the law of "I'M BIGGER THAN YOU" doesn't go away.
>>
>>290684765

>>
>>290684812
I already read your fucking post dumbass, and I already refuted it early. Yes, it would help, but it would not solve the problem, so you’d still have villains and you’d still need heroes. The worst villains were not created but abuse, but ironically a lack of abuse. Abuse teaches empathy, whereas privileged rich assholes view those beneath them as subhuman and are the true villains
>>
There's more to villainy than the societal outcasts and even then you can't fix everyone. There are so many different kinds of villains in cape books. You would have to alter human nature to an alien degree to do that.

Nobody said we shouldn’t use preventative measures to reduce crime you absolute simpleton, the argument is that heroes would still be necessary and that the author is incredibly naive for thinking that societal reform would eliminate the need for heroes or prevent another all for one/shigaraki from rising again. If you actually read the thread, the first poster I was arguing with was claiming that the problem of villains in society was completely solved and that another big villain would never rise again, which is incredibly naive because 1)true villains are not created by abuse and neglect but by fundamental human nature and 2)people would still slip through the cracks as long as you live in a non utopian society with inequality and poverty. The world is a game of musical chairs and there’s always going to be people who don’t get a chair and have a reason to become villains
>>
>>290684902
Its "war on drugs" mentality.
A lot of people don't actually want crime to go down, they just want their desire for punishment satiated. Preventing crime doesn't scratch the same itch.
Convincing people that preventative measures don't work, allowing crime to propagate, then providing huge displays of performative punishment and justice to appear tough on crime is what wins votes.
>>
>>290684996
you can’t prevent all crime no matter how much reform you do. Even a full on revolutionary utopia could not remove the evil in the human heart. In the famous words of John Madison:

It's curious how Choujin almost feels like a critique of MHA sometimes. Maybe it's because it is actually written like a classic superhero story fused with Ishida's psychologism.
I adore the fact second half of the story will happen when main characters has grew up already, too, and Tokio is already the ace and legend of the region.
