Mermaids lured men by romancing them until their light was big enough, then they fed them to the big fish and powered up their kingdom for a while. Grace fell in love with a human and refused to feed it to the fish, fish still needs to be fed, hungry fish starts feeding on merfolk instead, Lara's mom decides to feed herself to the fish so Grace can be happy with her human, her light was so strong it powers up the fish for centuries. Eventually the fish gets hungry again, it needs to feed on new human in love or mermaid princess. Grace plan is to feed Lara's lover to the fish to prevent her family from feeding Lara to the fish. Grace tells all this to Lara and gives herself to the fish before it starts voring the remaining members of Lara's family. But Grace's light was tiny so the fish is still hungry and Lara must decide what to do.
