>>290781499See this is the thing with Tamayura, it's not afraid to get "raunchy" if you want to put it that way. Right away Kaoru jokes about having a smell fetish. Also early on they joke about Potte almost exposing herself to get a great shot in. Sayomi has some kinky moments. This is all consistent throughout the series, but it never gets super Otaku pander-y. I just think it's funny because the anime is so cute and idyllic.

The Tamayura as a concept sure is something. They're the only supernatural things in this series, everything else is like our world. They are generally acknowledged, but also not discussed that often. Potte herself cannot get them consistently and it kinda seems like her club members can't get them at all? I dunno if the implication is that only some people can capture them. Also Potte shoots her magnum opus when she's just playing as a kid and not even seriously trying. But at the same time I don't think young Potte was a Tamayura machine either. In the past I've tried paying attention to all the pictures to figure out what conditions do or do not produce Tamayura. I didn't really arrive at a meaningful conclusion though.It's all very peculiar and I'm honestly not sure even Junichi Sato could explain it perfectly.

I'd like to appreciate Natsume a bit. They make it clear he still has a heart of gold, but adult life and the death of Potte's dad have left him jaded quite a bit. He's the perfect contrast to Potte's dad who never lost his passion for photography.At the end of his season 2 debut he explains that he's no longer part of the town. It's a heartbreaking moment because he's a great guy really. However, in the movies he comes in clutch for Potte and I think it proves that his connection to Takehara has not been completely severed after all. It's great

I watched Tamayura a couple years ago after it was recommended in a Soro no Woto thread. I enjoyed it while watching it, and it moved me, but I didn't feel it caught up to my favourites at the time.But the show has remained on my mind a lot, partially because I still listen to some of the great tracks by Sakamoto Maaya, and partially through visiting Onomichi and being reminded of the girls school trip.Without even rewatching it the series has grown on me. Like the opposite of a time-flop.
