I want to watch Evangelion for the first time in 15 years but cannot seem to find any strong consensus on which translation is "better". Most of the discourse claims the netflix translation is more literal, while the originals feel more emotionally 'correct', but the only examples of this anyone ever mentions are the kaworu fag erasure or shinji stating he loves asuka.

Which do (you) personally think makes for the better experience?

ADV dub is the only way I have ever watched it

Also worth mentioning that the netflix translation is used in the blu ray release, which to my eyes seems to be marginally visually better than the platinum dvd release.

Netflix script was so bad it was actually the original dub script but ADV told Anno to shove it up his ass.

I watched it without subs when it aired, and didn't give a fuck about what they were saying.
Watching it with subs didn't make the experience any better.
