I just don't understand how people would ever believe diplomacy was in the cards. Everything we've seen of the rest of the world suggest that they hate Eldians too damn much for that. The Marlyeans can't even put their contempt aside and treat their Warriors who win them wars nicely and the rest of the world supposedly treats Eldians worse and they hate the ones in Paradis more than the ones outside of it, it's just a huge mess. A partial Rumbling on any part of the world would just ignite them further in their hatred and Zeke's plan would just get every Eldian genocided. Rumbling was pretty much the only option unless they were interested in spending the rest of their lives keeping a boot under the rest of the world's necks.

When Commander Gross encountered a little Eldian girl his first instinct was to take her and feed her to dogs. That was one of the first things we saw when the story finally peered to the outside world. And it wasn't an insolated incident. Marlyeans get assaulted by otherwise normal people anytime they step out of their ghetto, a Marylean woman literally killed her son and herself the second she realized she procreated with an Eldian, Marleyeans are so hateful that they use them as cannon fodder and antagonize them when they have PTSD, despite their status the warriors aren't even treated well. And that's all Marley. Imagine the rest of the world. I say that because, according to that one kid, Eldians are treated worse outside of MarleyI'm not going to try to justify the genocide. My point of view is that I spent up to that point of the series watching the eldians behind the walls, I bonded with them and watched them struggle and win and grow, and I wanted to see them overcome all the shit that got thrown at them. I want them to beat the bad guys and the bad guys in the final season were the rest of the world. They did a good job making the eldians outside the walls just as likable, and despite the lot of them being Uncle Toms like Gabi (for good reason), I still feel bad that so many of them had to die.There were oddities like the two guards (who were replaced with average Marlyeans), that one Japanese clan, and those foreigners (assuming they knew they were with eldians), everyone else was cartoonishly evil and they'd do what Gross did a billion times over. I don't know if that was the goal, but the way the rest of the world treated the eldians made it clear that the only way for Paradis to live was through an unstoppable and destructive show of power, any peaceful solution, like taking away the titans and the ability to have kids, would have ended in Paradis being bombed, and any means of diplomacy would definitely be vehemently barracked if not sabotaged.

>>290828072Nah, Marley undermined the whole thing simply by existing. The moment the basement reveal shifted the plot towards a generic war and time skipped on the survey corps the show was dead. The characters all had their own reasons for being part of that unit, mundane everyday relatable reasons that gave them distinct personalities and it´s stupid how they were reduced to heroes and depersonalized. Future Eren´s plan was also pretty retarded and made Eren even more of a unlikable little bitch. It´s essentially the Code Geass R2 ending but way worse. Plot should have stayed focused on the characters like Claymore does. If you haven´t read it, Claymore has a similar reveal but Clare, the MC, remains only interested on her revenge till the very end. Eren should have stayed the same.
