This week in Eoshinki I have located the source of the tentacles, and MTL decided that Lieutenant Won needed an outfit change. There was a sequence of Goyo nearly losing his mind again that further established what Dominic's values are, and I saw some comments about him marked as spoilers that bothered me (more "everything must be Lovecraft lore" theories), but it's fun. Hyuno threw a tantrum because he couldn't have his Goyo and everything is going to hell again! Won's backstory turned out to be far too thematically convenient, but I agree with comments saying it's good trauma material to work into his relationship with Goyo later.I finally got sent some Eng language tweets about the series and it seems most people have written it off as "bootleg GSGW" and declared Dominic a direct copy of Braun because of his manner of speech. There's definitely a cute mascot companion trend in WNs, but GSGW didn't start it. I won't deny the inspiration was probably there at the start, but I'd say Braun and Dominic are too dissimilar, both in what they're capable of and their input in dialogue. Braun is less of a wildcard for long stretches of the story, whereas Goyo has to actively talk Dominic out of trying to help or interact with their environment. I never really saw Good Friend as carrying a nuclear bomb around. Braun is generally happy to explain concepts and share knowledge even if he sometimes treats it like background details are evident, while Dominic is faking amnesia, is choosy about what he tells Goyo, and even erases Goyo's memory of their interactions to better manipulate him. It's a very different feel in my opinion.

I've been reading an action series about a corporal in charge of a unit of criminals. The main premise is that whenever he dies he wakes up that morning and repeats until he completes some challenge, and he sucks at fighting so he dies hundreds of times in the first loops. It hasn't explained why he's the only one who can order the criminals around or stop them fighting each other, or why they keep commenting how much they like him despite being weak and pathetic.
