Chapter 42꞉ The Truth About the Apartment
We learn everything this chapter.
BRAVONOLAN
>>290843052It was obvious it was some sort of computer, but I think it could have been something a little better than that one.
>>2908433451000 years? Rookie numbers>>290843367I wonder if Tanaka played Darwinia
And done!So how do you like this explanation?
>>290843547Not veryIt's more like "huh" than "aha"
If the computer was only running for such a brief time, how did any alien discover it at that moment?
>>290843203so basically post apocalyptic TADC>>290843547axed/10 could've been cool with more setup if this whole thing didn't feel rushed to shit.
>>290842939>everythingwhat about the landlord stuff
>>290843683the lighting was caused by the alien while connecting to the computer
>>290845183i don't think they ever fully explained what the role of a landlord even is, feels like they picked an english word that sounded cool to them and was house related.
>>290843547Thank you for posting.
>>290843547I have two folders full of reaction faces, and even then I can't find an image that accurately captures how I feel after reading this chapter.
>>290843547
>>290848288kek
>>290843203Wow, it's really the /v/ tower after all.
>>290843259>The game's playing itself, Jon...
>>290843367You know it's an old game because it has SOUL.
There has to be more to it.The game stuff doesn't explain the memories of a previous life in the old world.
>>290851381It could have been just game background information, but that doesn't explain why someone else came from outside. Maybe other information from long dead people stored on the computer that played the game?
>>290851381Maybe the game author recreated a real person in there, like in CrossCode
>>290843547Kinoooo
>>290844690>could've been cool with more setupthe cat arc could've dropped some hints I think, like displaying decimal floors as floating point numbers (which would be very on brand after 64 bit integer overflow in Vertical World)overall the setting feels too elaborate to dismiss it as just a simulation and the story didn't really establish what's "normal" and what's notI thought there'd be several more arcs of Maison going out and about but in a sense it's been the final act since chapter 9
>>290843115So if I had to look at from the viewpoint of a game, the hidden floors are unused/leftover levels. The large spaces are the equivalent of blue hell.Wonder what kind of game it was.
Ahhh… Wagarimazhite…
Man this manga was really not worth following
>>290853948I hope the artist works on something better next.
>>290854045Oh yeah the art its nice, by itself reading it on one sitting its okay, but its not worth waiting week by week for it
>>290843203Ehhhhhh
>>290843169>>290843203>it's a gameI was expecting a digital world, but something about this feels underwhelming.
>>290851806Yeah I assumed they were all Evotars but didn't see the videogame coming.
>>290844690it was axed?
>>290856135I don't know, but I'd believe it since things have been escalating at a brisk pace ever since Bernie was confirmed alive in the flesh.
bumpa
>>290843547wtf did I just read?

>>290856135Let's be honest, look at the pacing, we entered the endgame pretty suddenly.>>290859163KEK
>>290843169MY LIFE IS LIKE A VIDEO GAMETRYING HARD TO BEAT THE STAGE
The writing has definitely felt somewhat lost for a while. I'm wondering if the author didn't expect the series to last as long as it has and had to make it up on the fly. Or maybe they had longer term plans and had to conclude earlier than intended due to axe. Disappointing
>>290861944The axed theory seems more probable. Had it not be expected to last long, the early chapters would have been faster in building plot and giving out info, but it was actually running slow but steadily, and then suddenly we were in final lap with computers and aliens.I'm kind of reminded of an old movie I watched as a kid, where a lightning strikes the computer while two boys play a video game, and a hot lady comes out. Can't remember the title, though.
>>290862615I believe you are referring to Boku no Pico
>>290862615They've been on the run from the apartment man right from Maison and Mushi met which was very early in the story, I'm not sure how it would go slow and steady when the apartment men are clearly not the ones to chill out
>>290862615They keep getting chased around. It was the apartment man, then apartment men, then the mecha hag, then the apartment hag and now the man apartment. It was only slow and steady at the beginning.
I think i missed one or two chapters, wtf was the goal?
>>290862965>>290863225I meant slow and steady as far as exposition goes, not that the characters were just chilling around. There were so many mysteries around, and Maison kept raising more questions, but you can't say there was any proper foreshadowing of what was going to happen in the end, it could have easily went into totally different direction. That's indicative of works that are expected to be longer, the author thinks they still have time to start dropping big clues.
>not a single proper butt/spats shot.Biggest travesty of this whole thing.
>>290864343My point is that since they started being chased it was natural for the story and exposition to pick up the pace as they were moving to new weird locations. What's weird is that it started back when Tanaka was definitely planning ahead (he said on twitter he was like 8 chapters ahead around that time). By the time they met Old Bertie and it started to feel like endgame, a lot of stuff had happened already. So it looks like it was the original plan all along at least to some extent.
>>290863584Probably the way out into another computer and then physical bodies. Old Bertie might be the computer itself, she could be partly based on the original owner of that computer.
