He does decline as a coach when he starts getting drunk again but he couldn't do anything to save him even if he hadn't.Kamogawa on the other hand is useless at everything except strength and conditioning. Remember when Takamura had to fight Hawk and had to figure out a counter for Hawk's swayback on the fly even though Hawk is a fucking world champion and they have access to almost every fight he's ever had? Even Kamogawa flat out admitted that Takamura's success is almost nothing to do with him, he can sort of wrangle him to make weight and learn the basics and that's it. Ippo is even more embarassing, Kamogawa tells Ippo that the Dempsey Roll sucks, doesn't actually tell him what to prioritise, then goes "ah well I guess we'll challenge modern boxing logic" and drives Ippo into a ditch. Ippo has a jab that hits like a straight, an iron chin, absurd punching power, cardio for days, and is incredibly quick and Kamogawa just sends him into wars until he's nearly punch drunk before he's even thirty.
