The story lost its purpose the moment she got friends. Her being cringe and pathetic was what made the show memorable.

Just listened/watched the ED. Man it's still a bop. The vid had the lyrics so I read them along, and the lines about her not feeling satisfied looking in the mirror, along with a clip I had recently watched where she threw up after looking in the mirror for the first time in years, made me feel pity for her. Additionally those feelings of pity I had for her when I watched her anime all of those years ago are starting to come back, having trying to recall some scenes and the general vibe of the anime. Two scenes that I want to bring up are when she visited the red light area to feel hip but felt out of place and just wants to get back home and her friend disguised in a mascot suit giving her a balloon at the school festival. With my feelings of pity in mind, I feel happy to know that in the manga, she's finally able to have some company and feel part of a group. I mean I don't read the manga but that's the impression I get seeing all the comments about girlfriends and harems.
