But he's not someone who would change his mind about something so important after the fact, and instead has resolved to give himself completely to the life he chose as a vulnerable child, and kills his only friend in service of it. His dying thoughts are that choices must be made for oneself, and takes solace in the fact that he lived life as he saw fit, even if the choices haunted him. Taking on Uryu's wounds, as far as he knew, made no difference, it was just self-indulgence. Jugram is a great character and deserved more screentime.
