It’s not that I hate these couples or think the anime was completely wrong for pairing them together. I just have a different way of looking at their relationships. I don’t know if other anons think about them the same way.
1. Naruto × HinataI honestly don’t think Naruto deserved Hinata. From the beginning of the series until almost the very end, Naruto was constantly chasing after Sakura. Meanwhile, Hinata had been quietly supporting and caring about Naruto since they were kids, yet Naruto barely noticed her feelings for most of the story. Even during the War Arc, when Minato was right there, Naruto was still talking about Sakura. Hinata is basically the definition of wife material. She supported Naruto when almost nobody believed in him, admired him before he became powerful or respected, and genuinely loved him for who he was. I’m not even talking about strength or power here. I just feel like Hinata deserved someone who recognized her love and loved her back from much earlier.
2. Sasuke × SakuraI have never understood Sasuke and Sakura's relationship. From the very beginning Sakura became obsessed with Sasuke only for what...looks and popularity? She developed a love so deep she was willing to let him unalive her AT LEAST twice without ever even being asked on a date, a hand holding, nothing. It's the main reason why I was never a fan of Sakura to begin with. He never gave her his time, conversations, energy, anything for her to become as obsessed and one sided as it was. It felt very much like both of them desperately needed therapy and never got it and Sasuke was settling.Maybe the crazy devotion finally got to him.
3. Sai x InoThis one is probably even more controversial. For me, Ino is one of the weakest characters personality wise among the main female characters. I always felt Sai deserved someone who would genuinely understand and appreciate him for who he was someone with a personality more like Hinata's, who would love him sincerely rather than being attracted to him because of his appearance. And the fact that Ino still seemed to have some feelings for Sasuke even after getting married makes the relationship feel even stranger to me. Then after the war, when Naruto became incredibly popular and respected, there were moments where Ino seemed impressed by him too.

4. Shikamaru × TemariAnd finally, The best written couple in Naruto, in my opinion Shikamaru and Temari. Their relationship actually feels natural. They started by challenging each other, respected each other's abilities, and gradually developed a genuine understanding. There was no unnecessary love triangle, no endless chasing, and no forced drama. They just fit.Honestly, Naruto could have given us more scenes of Shikamaru and Temari because their relationship is one of the few that feels like it developed naturally rather than simply being decided at the end.he married and was attracted to a woman like his mother, which, I feel a little weirded by but is a common thing for men apparently.
>>290865083The only one that truly had no right to happen was Sasuke x Sakura. The man tried to kill her multiple times and would've succeeded if not for Kakashi and Naruto.
>>290865132It was clear from the beginning that she was at least interested in him. But yeah sadly the manga didn't show much of their interactions together while the anime Added filler moments with them.

>>290865609Yes. Now, shoo.
>>290865159ShikaTema aren't well written. They're just not as hated as the other ships because they just don't have much screen time.I read this in every romance-related-naruto thread. Yes, they are the only couple that makes sense, but this doesn't mean the author is good at romance. There are only 2-3 instances they interact--chunin exams; saving shika from tayuya, and walking around together at the beginning of shippuden. Then they interact in the war. If they had any more screen time their relationship dynamic would quickly go stale. All the other times we see them would just be Temari hitting Shikamaru.I just thought I needed to say this because people genuinely think Kishimoto just refused and flat-out decided to forego romance in his story. It's more like he's not good at it, and when he is reminded he gives it one panel (like sasusaku; the eye smashing, chunin exam "sakura, you're good at genjutsu"; naruhina: hand holding, hinata's confession etc) then completely forgets about it in the vast expanse of the story.Sasusaku is him trying to do a romance, and we all know how that panned out. Also Temari is straight up abusive towards Shikamaru and hits him in Boruto as well as demeans him. She also hits Shikadai.

>>290865093Hinata has no personality other than "Naruto-kun..." They needed to retcon her and Naruto having a connection with a movie that they unusually declared canon. They otherwise have no interaction in the anime or the manga. I don't care if people use the "quiet devotion" excuse. It's no wonder that Naruto spends his time in the office as Hokage. The mangaka declared that she was the one for Naruto by fiat of plot no jutsu. While spending countless chapters on building connection between Sakura and Naruto instead.
