He gives up his past, his determined fate and what he was originally ordered to do. If the thing about him being Kyara's illegitimate child is true, then it makes even more sense. Kyara always acts funny about his tsundereism like during the Bull arc, and is very offended that it got him own'd with Baku but Marco chooses to embrace the softness and faces being kind as a way of being strong. Kyara gets bogged down with his strength, violence and the distance between that and gambling, Marco is the opposite. Marco entering the collecting the handkerchiefs as nothing else but a purifying force to shittest everyone is a interesting angle this and is why Midara has to lose, because even after it he doesn't even commit properly. Also if the father-son theory is true, makes it more concrete with Kyara then punishing Kadokura from beyond the grave when Kado reverts.
