>>290876830 Yeah, it's very tasteful and cool. You never really notice it without the small details until you get the backstory >>290877540 It's all mindgames in here, more or less Baku and Sute trying to drive each other into a corner. The actual game is relatively simple and explained to you pretty well, but the main twist is ALL mindgame. Ties in exceptionally well to themes of bearing each other's Karma btw
>>290877565 Yeah, I'll agree the setup for the out-of-gamble stuff is exceptionally complicated
>let it die, videogame where all of the consumables are mushrooms>one of them is the GAMBLESHROOM>you either survive fully healed or turn into a beasthow would Baku cheat a gamble like this? surely something that simple would be easy for him to figure out...........
>>290877603I don't think Baku has won a chance based gamble in the series yet so he'd likely lose. Our protagonist is in BIG trouble

>>290872278I found this arc really confusing at first and it was only thanks to Duwang's notes and that one guy in the Mangadex comments who solved the entire gamble that I was able to understand a little bit. I understand it better now that I'm reading it again though but I think it's still one of the most confusing arcs because of how complicated the situation gets.
>>290878687No doubt about it
I have a question to Usogui scholars.Baku got the heart surgery before meeting Hal? From what I understood, he was already planning on taking over Kakerou but being lied to by Hal made him plant the seeds and go after Hal's ass specifically. Did I get it right? If so, what kind of backstory and long run gamble could Usogui possibly have to put him in a situation where his teenager self was giving his heart away
>>290879862NahHe intend to usurping the previous Leader, who is Hal's father. Also we don't known anything about Baku's backstory, but the theory is that the guy who switch his heart is his father
Only thing I dislike about ToK. it’s another arc where Sako spends a whole chapter talking about this made up special superpower Marco’s antagonist has only for to lose immediately afterwards. It’s pretty lazy to do this again. First Minowa and then Craig.

>>290880118I agree but I think it s a little thematic with Marco because unlike the others, he is the one who gives up his power, in a sense. He gives up his past, his determined fate and what he was originally ordered to do. If the thing about him being Kyara's illegitimate child is true, then it makes even more sense. Kyara always acts funny about his tsundereism like during the Bull arc, and is very offended that it got him own'd with Baku but Marco chooses to embrace the softness and faces being kind as a way of being strong. Kyara gets bogged down with his strength, violence and the distance between that and gambling, Marco is the opposite. Marco entering the collecting the handkerchiefs as nothing else but a purifying force to shittest everyone is a interesting angle this and is why Midara has to lose, because even after it he doesn't even commit properly. Also if the father-son theory is true, makes it more concrete with Kyara then punishing Kadokura from beyond the grave when Kado reverts. I know I'm running defense for Marco, and I do agree with you and other anon esp about Billy padded long spoiler but I think it's something Sako really tries to hammer home. Genisakuri and Batuque have been filled with this to the point where the entire romance between Hanabi and Harima in Geni are the difference between destroying the past or the future. I'm still sad there's been no real art of Harima and Baku. Angelic boxer strong fightfag and no cardio dead heart demon twink both flowing hair gives me a nose bleed. Also 10 bucks that I fucked up the spoilers because cntrl-s isn't working anymore.

>>290884135The rule was implemented because a lot of shit detective stories at the time would use racist stereotypes of chinks in their stories. The guy that made the rules clarified that you could have chinese characters in your story in theory, but typically when you see an author bring up a chinese character you should toss the book because it's probably trash. It's like a game using UE5, theoretically you could make a good game with it but in practice it's best to just ignore any game using it.

Kinda funny how on a first read, the simple head guessing game is the most confusing aspect of the arc. Like the other anon said earlier in the thread, not knowing how many beads either character makes the game harder to follow and understand their thought processes. In this arc, you’re fully blind
>>290884567It doesnt help later on that Nowa confuses us with his brainlet takes

>>290884117I think it is actually fake habits like that one expression he does later on, but interesting take.
>>290883600The JoJo comparison is very fair, especially because the Araki influence is obvious in Sako's works. I always found silly when people used the Sherlock copypasta to attack Usogui, because the manga never tried to be "elegant" or "clever" in the way it depicts intelligence. In fact, it becomes clear very early on that this is an universe where brain power is depicted in the same way chinese kung fu movies depict martial arts.
>>290884117I'm not sure if he'd do that when Fukurou is aiming for the Oscar with his jobberspeak

>>290885110>Whatever he says in front of Fukurou I chalk up to habitSuteguma's game against Fukurou is for the explicit purpose of making the future opponents of Suteguma misread Suteguma's FAKE habits during the game. >>290883234 Yeah, we see how dangerous he's willing to play with later in this arc too
>>290885249Oh, I'm aware. I just always thought those fake habits consisted of facial expressions or body language tells. I choose to believe his overconfident declarations are a real habit that comes out in tense situations, since the manga never stated otherwise.
>>290885971I'm in deep shit...
>>290883410>>290883626Usogui is written in a way where both examples are true, because you see shit like Baku meticulously doing the legwork to prepare for a gamble but you also see him referring to obscure nonsense he saw once or twice like Sadakuni's cyberware, or Amado's synesthesia.Frankly, I think the manga is better when you just accept that characters are partially superhuman in an intellectual or physical way, like a referee casually out speeding and out powering guys who are more built than him probably keeps the disbelief suspended enough for Baku to pull out an obscure gamble relevant factoid out of his head or Kaji's mosquito sound and also calculate pi to the 18th decimal.
>>290883884>>290883626>>290883543 The Chinaman is a spoiler despite us already knowing two Chinamen, neither of which have been confirmed yet
>>290884287 There's Chinamen but Usogui characters don't technically follow any particular stereotype unless Sako is such an advanced racist he's privy to knowledge only a group 935 scientist would know. >>290885921I see arguments for both of those guys, I think there's potential in both

>>290886367>>290886385Imo the whole thing factors into the visual similarities in a manga that's already hard to parse (too many characters) and using analysis of a particular narrative element that's *very* open to interpretation on the matter of themes and metaphor. >>290887146FUCK, these are the highlights of my day
>>290886453Imo, the method for hangman's win doesn't feel very shown/strategic. The camera being shot is random. Baku learns when Sadakuni starts and stops seeing through the dead camera without doing a lot on screen. So the reveal "I know that Sadakuni sees through cameras and when he can't see at all" feels weak.Contrast that to the Labyrinths. Baku does a lot to see if and how the opponent is cheating, and Baku sets up his own tricks, and most of it is shown to the readers. The burning Bull arc too. It gives a feeling like, "sure, Kaji could see the trick and win after all that." In Hangman, Baku does what. Taps his pants to count seconds, and drops a card once to see if/when Sadakuni picks it up, and moves where he's holding the cards sometimes? There's no feeling like "sure, that's enough to win."
>>290887856>Baku learns when Sadakuni starts and stops seeing through the dead camera without doing a lot on screen. You mentioned some examples to the contrary already.>drops a card once to see if/when Sadakuni picks it upThis was also after Sadakuni's slow reaction to the Rock Papers Scissors shoot, that Baku notices, with the page of him staring holes through Sadakuni's soul. Then Baku does the transforming RPS joke, which might actually be another test. There is also the fact that Baku could not read Sadakuni at all, hinting that Sadakuni actually didn't know what his own cards were. And of course, it must be that Sadakuni can see Baku's cards somehow. And there's only one possible explanation for that.So I disagree, it is constantly shown how Baku forms his idea of 'Kuni being blind and tests the limits of the hypothesis.>huh that's weird Sadakuni didn't react>isn't he gonna pick up the card>ok no this dude is actually blind>but he can definitely see my cardsIf you dislike Kaji's stroke of luck, then sure.
