They're ubiquitous across ghost in the shell but I've seen several conflicting explanations for them ranging from a computer connected to someone's brain, to a computer that replaces part or most of someone's brain. Same thing with Major Kusanagi, is she a brain in a jar in a mechanical body? Or something like a brain copied onto a computer?
>>290894696It's a brain that is cybernetic.
>>290894696> Same thing with Major Kusanagi, is she a brain in a jar in a mechanical body?Until the end of the event of the manga/movie, she is this.Basically she is GitS’s Adam Smasher with tits and a more dex/stealth oriented body and arsenalAfter the end of GiTS she is alluded to have become the something more than the latter, since she fused with the AI
>>290894725Cybernetic enhancements?
>>290894696everyone has a biological brain that's kind of overgrown with cyber networking techthey implant the tech by "infecting" you, it's an injectionthe tech then spreads around and plugs into the parts of the brain that you normally use to control your bodyand voila, now you can use the cyber tech by thinkingeverything apart from the brain is replaceablesome people have a biological bodysome people are an armored brain in a machinemost are somewhere in between, probably on the more biological sideMotoko is the only full cyborg in S9, the rest are cyborgized to various and generally unstated degreesthe tech for copying a brain into a computer exists but is unsafe, unethical and the result isn't a human, just a computer program, which gits defines as something that does not possess a ghost
>>290894788What does she become after? Thinking about it more hoe does a non-organic silicon based life form fuse consciousness with a person? And what are her 'daughters' from MMI? Are brains copied onto computers? Was motoko somehow growing people in jars and uploading her personality to them?
>>290894696millions of micromachines monitor and activate synapses, allowing information to input and output directly from the brainthat's it
>>290897687>What does she become after?a technological singularity
>>290897687She remains a cyborg with the same brain as before, it's just that now she has stronger hacking abilities and fully developed psychic powers.>hoe does a non-organic silicon based life form fuse consciousness with a person? As you saw in the new anime, it does so by dying, thus becoming a ghost in the traditional sense of the word, which therefore allows it to merge with other ghosts through magical means.>And what are her 'daughters' from MMI?Psychic copies of her soul possessing blank artificial cyberbrains.
to understand what happened to puppetmaster when they 'died, read Permutation City
>>290897041i agree too
>>290898668read it ok
>>290894696I can't say I care. This stuff might have been cool and deep in the 90s but it isn't now. he's just a guy who likes drawing robot tits
