Hitogami was right.

It took literally losing everything, up to and including his home, his family, and even his freedom, for Rudeus to even CONSIDER that he might have a problem. Everybody was supporting him the whole time, right up until he pushed them too far. Most died just trying to support him. Hitogami basically did nothing. It was all 100% Rudeus and his actions. He could've got his drunk lecherous ass off the couch and cared about his family, but would rather piss it all away and watch them get killed because at least that doesn't mean taking resposibility.

When the message is "You're a piece of shit, be a better person or literally everybody you care about will die" it's kind of hard to sympathize with him. I guess I'm supposed to feel sorry for him losing everything, but really I feel sorry for everybody around him losing their lives trying to support the bum.

Multiverse and time travel are two bullshit tropes unless the entire plot is about those two elements. In MT's case it's very clearly a multiverse/otherworld story from the jump and not an element done later on. Time travel is OP and I feel like Oldeus should have researched living longer and THEN learned how to time travel and I guaran-fucking-tee that is going to be just the tip of the iceberg of character decisions I'm going to complain about now that time travel has been introduced into the story. That's a flimsy excuse trying to cover up a gaping plot hole.
Rudy is a massive anomaly in the current timeline (not present in previous loops, mana potentially on par with laplace, unaffected by Orsted's curse). He went on a rampage after major events caused the deaths of people close to him and started abducting random people and interrogating them about Hitogami. Orsted couldn't have already looped because he had no clue about either Nanahoshi or Rudy in the current timeline.
Even if we assume Rudy spent decades looking for him there was no reason for Orsted to actively avoid him. Why else would he spare him if he wasn't at least a little bit interested in how his life would turn out?

Oldeus literally points out how Man-God barely did a thing, he merely got the ball rolling, and Rudeus' own personal weaknesses and failings cause all the rest of the issues. He gave genuinely great advice to Rudeus, forgive Eris, deal with the rat, figure out how to get stronger fast, take care of the people in your life, and if something still goes wrong, don't wallow in your regrets as that is exactly what Man-God wants you to do etc.

That whole convo was alot more than just giving Rudeus the tools to take on/out the Man-God. It was his Third Chance. Wish i could have a Second frankly.
