Just an FYI for everyone, this is probably not getting another seasons as a one-&-done story, but there's a Volume 2 of the novel which contains Koharu & Kakeru's journey from dating days to marriage. It carries similar stuff to Episode 1-6, but even better. The volume is set after Koharu returns from Hokkaido, from her PoV (mainly her struggles with cancer & blindness). It really helps increase Kakeru's worth as a character apart from getting ass cancer.

As someone who had to deal with a close family member with terminal cancer, I can assure that Koharu faking the amnesia to try to distance herself from her friends is pretty understandable. They don't want to be seen like that and the reactions when you get pretty much a death sentence can vary a lot and it's hard for everyone involved. The episodes with how she got worse due the disease felt pretty real if not even kinda light on what actually happens but I'm surprised how they handled that. I'm glad Koharu at least got to live a good life before passing away.Of course we could just not have Sorano also getting terminal cancer and just have him trying to overcome his grief with the help of his daughter and the message Koharu left for him god, that hit me hard. I just wish we could have seen more of them together after the first treatment and also their friends and how they went with their lives as well. One more episode wouldn't hurt.
