>>291123095Man, I won’t lie this chapter hit close to home for me. Been a lifelong Godzilla fan since I was a kid. Earlier this year, in February, I got to go to Japan for the first time ever, and I of course did a ton of Godzilla-stuff during the trip. Checked out the statues and various Godzilla stores, saw the projection show they do in Tokyo, did some theme rides, etc.Later on I learned my dad, whom I have never gotten along with and who seemingly has never approved of my life choices, told my brother while I was on the trip that “I hope Anon finally grows out of this Godzilla stuff.” And boy did hearing that really strike a nerve for me. Like, how dare you insult the stuff I love, especially when I’m at places themed around it. It’s not like that was all I did on the trip, and I’m 30 years old. I think if I was ever going to grow out of it, it’s too little, too late. What really bothers me is he has an equally obsessive fascination with classic cars, but, you know, that’s an acceptable hobby to have. Anyways, all this to say that I’m really enjoying the manga. Even with all its comedy, it really does speak to the heart of being an adult fan.
