I don't think that everything needs sex shoved in it any more than everything needing violence shoved in it, or politics, or historical theming or whatever. That said, much like violence can exist on a spectrum from practically non present in toddler shows, to stuff like pokemon battles for younger kids, to shonen battle anime for older kids, to edgy blood pinatas for edgy teens, to more visceral but also more grounded portrayals of violence in media aimed towards adults (and with each step up generally also having room for the earlier steps, but not in reverse), there is a path from "mummy and daddy are going away for the weekend" for toddlers, to "seeing the crush character in a bathing suit" for younger kids, to fairly standard but minor/cringe stuff for older kids, to edgy performative sexuality for edgy teens, to more grounded and complex portrayals of sex and sexuality for adults. I think some of this problem is adults being unable to move on from media intended for a younger demographic and finding themselves creeped out by the implications of consuming content they are meant to have moved on from.
