Christmas is here early as the hibis celebrate! Today we rewatch episode 11 of HibiMeshi!
OSHINKO!!!
Did someone say Christmas? Let's celebrate!
Pink hibi
Fun little opening sceneAlways fun to see clerkchan!
Portable sheepPhysically, she is no match for clerksama
Sakura Sempai scaring the college girls with her nighttime escapadesI like how much focus she got for being a secondary character. She has alot of personality given how little screentime she gets relative to the main five girls, but she feels pretty close to a full fledged hibi. Excellent foundation to build a spin off show from...
It was cool to see that it was Nana that came up with the idea for the party this time. It seems like oshinko is usually the one driving the plot with her ideas and plans, as is expected of both a bucchou and the genki of the group. And granted, she DID have the same idea, too, but ut was nice to see Nana be the one to propose this
>when kurea offers to bring oyakodon to the party
ALSOI am announcing ONCE AGAIN for anyone who missed it in the last, non-canon thread >>291047709 that I will be rewatching mono on saturdays after the hibi meshi rewatch ends, which is next week. You are very welcome to join me! One episode per week, with threads on saturdays, just like hibimeshi. This is going to run alongside the Yuru Camp rewatch, which I'm sure you're aware of, that has threads on thursdays. I'll also mention that I'll be out of town on the saturday after the hibimeshi final episode, meaning in two weeks, when the mono rewatch should start, so if someone else wants to make a thread, feel free! I'll lurk if I can. If not, I'll simply make a thread the following weekend and the watch will begin that day! Please look forward to it!

>>291232580Why was Kurea's dad never shown?
>>291232719He's dead.
>>291230733Why did she do it?
Gonna be hard to focus on this rewatch thread after the end of Grow Up Show (which was very good), but I'll do by best.Anyway, cute Sakura room. Lots of big stuffed animals, all things she can hunt. I wonder if she ever goes around with fingerguns and pretends to shoot them as practice. Definitely cuter than real heads mounted on the walls.
>>291231755Like cotton candy.
>>291234568SameI'm still reeling from itDespite the show's second half being a bit sloppy, the ending was genuinely perfectI'm still trying to orginize my screenshots for it
>>291234960I'm glad I watched Hibimeshi last night and got everything sorted, I just gotta post my stuff. But I'm still mostly just reading the Grow Up Show threads and probably will be until this evening.
>>291235033Unfortunately the first growup thread was infested by schizosHopefully this second one will be palateableBut yeah, I'll be some time before I return to this thread lolAlso is getting captchas slow for anyone else right now?
>>291235461Ah, I guess it's not just me, or you, yeah something with the site seems to be struggling.
Less than a month away for the start of the sequel. I've seen nips pretty excited about it, but too bad this series isn't popular in the west to get translations.
Very spooky episode. And for some reason, I actually forgot who it was that was in the hood, so it was a fun surprise when that got revealed even though this isn't my first watch.
Nana is shy around new people, scared of scary movies, and scared of the dark and being scared in scary darkness. Poor Nana, this was a rough time for her.
>>291233334She's a lunatic who thinks delivering a box full of manure on Christmas is romantic.
Probably should not be that surprised that Shinon has the scoop on all the goings on around campus. It's kind of her job to make connections and know who needs what and who can provide what. In the process she'll pick up all kinds of information and rumors.
So yeah, I really didn't remember who this was and assumed it was Mako.
Clerk-san is apparently a senpai at work, that's nice.
The adventures of Clerk-san and her cute work kouhai. Doing spreadsheets, double-checking forms, and discussing the trouble the students are causing.
Look at 'em go.
I love her.
I bet she tells the best administration jokes around the office and everyone laughs and admires her ready wit. It's not a good office party unless she's there with half a non-alcoholic fruit punch in her.
Very suspicious traffic cone.
It's a stealth mission.
Hey I think captchas are working again like normal.
>>291236789Kouhai-chan is cute
Clerk-san is in hot pursuit.
>>291237241Uh oh, that'll be some paperwork with HR. And Clerk-san LOVES paperwork.
I'll be honest, most of my screenshots are just Clerk-san.
A hard episode for Sheep too. She's wearing 50 pounds of wool, exerting herself too much trying to keep up with the more athletic hibis, and hasn't had an energy drink in the last 15 minutes.
Now there's spooky ghosts!
>>291237241Clerk is for oshinko...

Pretty unfortunate day for the rewatch, huh. Site went down for a bit, perhaps some fall season shows started and some summer ones ended. Dead thread. Dead show. Season two never

Anyways. Even though there's nobody here today, I still wanna say I love this show and am still hoping for a season twoThe Christmas episode was good. It was fun and comfy. I wanna eat dinner with the hibis
I also baked something yesterday, though I have not yet made a /ck/ thread for it
Spoiler here's how they came out
>>291242913I'm here anon, this episode was entertaining
>>291243143Cute kurea
>>291241265there are only like 2 chs tld and I fucking hate when translators do that shit of>suddenly translatin a couple of chs of a manga which anime is gonna air soonor>translated the manga once the anime ended just to drop it asap whats the fucking point then, and yes I know its money
>>291242913Nowadays Hibifags only show up to force Claire to drive nonstop for days.
hebemeshi
>>291244735There was a fair amount of posting in the early threads of the rewatch atleast. My guess is that some anons just didn't want to wait and ended up finishing the show earlier
I feel like the autumn inaka episode was the last strong episode.
>>291242930What did you make?
>>291245951I don't want to agree with you but it might be true. The peak of the show was obviously episode 7 with the pizza. Imo all of the episodes that followed were good, but they never reached that same height again. I think this one specifically lacked something novel and unique, despite being a Christmas episode. I wouldn't say that any of these episodes are bad, of course, but when you compare them to the middle portion, they feel a little bit weaker just in general. Maybe it had to do with this feeling like two separate plots, because they were, ? But the episode with the farming also had a b-plot at the start and that one was great. Either way, the show is still a head above the vast majority of animes in this genre
>>291246008I made these things called pogacele - romanian scones, kindof>>291242982They're very good but I wasn't completely happy with how they came out. They should've been taller
>>291246040But it was fun and the taste is excellent. 10/10 on flavor and texture. Just should've done a couple of things different to facilitate them growing taller
>>291246040>>291242982Very nice.
>>291246068Thank you friendI'll make a thread on /ck/ in the upcoming days if you're intrested in seeing the whole processIt gets quite comfy in there
I thought this was a Nokotan thread. My vision might not be the best though.
>>291246016Yeah, besides episode 7 and the inaka episode, I thought the second half of the show was a bit underwhelming compared to the best parts of the show. I kept wanting for more, but I never got it.
>>291246333That's why we need season 2!!
>>291245951That was the festival episode for me, it was cool to see the girls working together and their efforts paying off, plus every other character partaking in it. It felt like a good season finale with the strongest focus on making food and enjoying their time at university. Mako's hometown episode needed to be a two parter to be really great, especially on Kurea, Sheep and Nana's side as they barely interact in the show. It was comfy, but it could have been much more.I also feel like the manga adaptation improved this last stretch of the story. The mangaka trimmed certain parts to help it flow better, and the girls have more synergy.
Looks like if I waited a little longer the site came back up, but I went to sleep instead.
Things got a little Dutch.
Why did she do it?
Pretty cute senpai, up to some mischief.
>>291231545Sweaty Kurea.
So if there was a sixth hibi, where would she sit? Would she slot between one of the other pairings (maybe between Mako and Shinon)? Would she sit in the blue chair and be kinda on the side like Sheep?
Happy Mako.
Worried Mako.
Cleaning Mako.
Running Mako.
Shopping Mako.
Sleepy Mako.
>>291251509More like sexy Mako.
Using the edge of the door to scratch her butt Mako.
Kurea reaching for sprouts which I found notable for some reason.
Two cute girls in the kitchen.
Shinon being weird.
Those are non-alcoholic drinks, r-right?
One of them didn't get a strawberry. I tried to figure out who but unless I missed it we didn't see everyone's cake. It was either Nana or Sheep I guess.
I've seen these in way too many anime but I still don't really understand it at all, maybe especially because it seems like anime characters often use it to cheat somehow, which clouds any potential understanding even more.
That lipstick could end up on Kurea someday.
Praise her sister.
Good thing Sheep wore a shirt that wouldn't obscure the sheep when she wore her Santa outfit.Anyway, Shinon tries her best not to seem disappointed at her present. She doesn't want Mako to feel bad about giving her unwanted mud.
>>291231745Someone started the rewatch without you:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrWRzQqfRJs
The deer moved.Anyway, what a silly senpai. She didn't even put a note in the box with any explanation and instructions on use.She truly was the villain of this episode.
>>291252190Waht tha heck!
>>291251383She will be a flirty kouhai who will rotate a girl to cling to every day
>>291252368Her motives are incomprehensible

>>291252368Cute stuffed aminals
>>291251869I assume she just moved them out of the way to cut a slice, then put a strawberry back onto it
>>291256295By my calculations, there are 6 strawberries on that cake, four whole and four halves. The little santa statue was in the place where another whole and half would be. Somebody's getting screwed over no matter which way it goes.
>>291257057There is an easy solution to this...
I'm just impressed by the five-way cake cut, to be honest.

>>291267433I bought the physical volume but thanks, it's good to have the digital version avaiable
>>291245951For whatever reason I remember the earlier episodes a lot more than the later ones. So these later ones are almost like watching for the first time, for me. Maybe the early ones are just better episodes, I dunno.
>>291267409Make sure you toss her a reasonably high amount that's still under your control, but the wife scolds you because she perceives it as dangerously high and reckless because she's overprotective
>>291267979Of course. No dropping hibis.
>>291267507Yeah, the first seven episodes were definitely more memorable to me than the rest. They had a great mix of healing and Shinon's Toshinou-Kyouko-esque hijinks.
>>291269470Pocchi will lick every hibi sooner or later
>>291269865So would I.
why does the food club never actually make any food

>>291273102If only they understood.
>>291278441I've said this before but if I was making a tourist anime, I'd do four college girls going to graduate at the end of the year, doing a road trip along the entire coastline of Japan. Give each one a unique motivation for the trip, a unique personality, and then switch up each episode who's sitting where in the car, and have two stories going, one in front of the car and one in back. When they stop to rest and see the sights, split up into different stories. The constant dynamic change between girl combos, the interplay of their motivations and dreams for the future, mixed with changing scenery and some food porn, would make for some great conversations. Almost like Girls' Last Tour, but less bleak and depressing. And every episode is essentially a beach episode.
>>291279491Fund it
Fast drive today.
>>291279491I saw this in a write an anime plot thread (I think) or somewhere else you've posted it and thought it was a good idea. One thing though, the cars HAVE to be handdrawn, none of that CGslopmodelshit, especially when it's the core of the show. I imagine that something like 25% would take place in the car itself or show the car traveling, so it would be super important that it looks GOOD. It would also need to have an excellent soundtrack and perbaps several different songs liscenced for it or created specifically for it. I don't mean to tell you how to make your own show, but imagine if each girl had a different genre they prefered and the music changed based on who was in shotgun controling the AUX
hibithread is up, bros >>/ck/22223573
>>291281818Yeah, I agree, hand-drawn car. A lot of it would be pretty static interiors with the scenery moving in the background anyway. That's a good idea about the front passenger controlling the soundtrack.I think some episodes would feature more driving than others, some might be "bottle episodes" taking place entirely in the car, like an overnight drive and just a quick switch at the halfway point in the middle of the night for the girls in back sleeping to wake up and finish the drive while the two in front go in back to doze off. That could be the real comfy low-energy episode with some deep thoughts being pondered. And definitely no everyone-sleeps-but-Kurea-scenario, here. The front passenger seat is there to stay up awake with the driver and talk, keeping the driver awake.
>>291271768>ponytail
>>291282342I like a good ponytail girl. Even if they are zannen.
>>291282331The more I hear about it the more I love this idea. Long drives with your friends are kino and this is genuinely a gold-teir concept, anonI went on a vacation with two cousins a few years back in Norway and Iceland. In Norway, we drove from Oslo to Trondheim to Bergen. Im Iceland, we drove on route one circling the entire island. Was so much fun. We had a playlist we all contributed songs to. So many of my pictures were from during the drive. It really added alot to the vacation as opposed to staying in one place
peeking under clerk-chan's skirt
>>291282504That's awesome. I'd love to visit Iceland someday. I've circled, or almost circled, two of the Hawaiian islands before, and drove a fair bit of ways around a third. It's cool having the ocean stay on one side of you the whole time while the sun keeps moving in the sky.But yeah, I think it'd be a comfy anime. I think it's about 10 days of non-stop driving to do Japan's major island loops, plus a couple 25 hour ferry rides to go down to Okinawa, so there'd probably be a couple ferry episodes in there too where they're just on the ocean. And for college students, they could do either spring break their last year, and actually try to chase the cherry blossoms as they go through the latitudes up one side, which could be really kino, or they could do summer break and maybe have a typhoon episode and generally spend more time eating ice cream and cooling off at the beach.I think it would almost have to be 2 cour, and have each episode be a couple days in-universe to be realistic and tell a self-contained story for the episode. But that would give plenty of time for subtle character growth, and for each friendship pairing to grow deeper in meaningful ways, and give each girl a personal story to go with their collective journey. Of course there'd be the usual stuff where they get annoyed at each other over stupid stuff, go a bit insane from being stuck in a car for much of the day every day, etc. But I'd avoid any serious drama or make them hate each other. The benefit of constantly changing seats after each stop is they'd get breaks from each other, and each stop they could go off on their own if they want to and just be back at the car at a set time. And then maybe a bit of "skull" "lycopene" silliness creeps in over time, where they end up with inside jokes by the end that crack them up and are bonded for life by their trip.
>>291283538Also have done a one day drive in hawaii with those same cousins but that was ten fucking years ago I'm old as fuck >.< hawaii is a beautiful place too. Totally recommend iceland as a trip. It's very accessible. You can fly directly into Reykjavik for pretty cheap, maybe around 5-600? from probably any major city on the east side of America, and definitely from anywhere in Europe if you live there. There's alot to do in the city itself. There's also alot to do outside of it. Most people stay in "the golden cirlce" I think it's called, where there are tons of waterfalls and hotsprings. Some places I recommend, if you ever make it out there>a hot spring facility, I think I went to blue lagoon or something. There's one by the airport and one closer to the city, I went to the one close to the city>a stew restaurant in Reykjavik that sells stew in breadbowls. Went there 3 times in one week lmao>black sand beach. My absolute favorite spot from iceland (I even brought back some sand and rocks as a memento)The more you talk about your idea the more I want to see it. You've got good sense for what makes a cgdct type show feel good. Having a wide range of personalities and varying dynamics is what makes hibi meshi work so well and what would make your driving anime shine. Love the idea of them all having different personal reasons to go on the trip and finding their answers to their troubles or what have you along the way. I assume they'd all get individual focus episodes over the course of the show to really hone in on their purpose for the trip, placed strategically between more lighthearted episodes. And taking the time to spend multiple days on one episode sounds great. If you had infinity budget, how would you go about making it? What studio would you commission? Any more fleshed out ideas for the specific girls, such as designs, personalities, or their motives? Most importantly? What kind of CAR? I'm imagining a convertible...
>>291283538>>291285916Though I will suggest, one of my personal favorites>subaru alcyone 1986 with the popup headlights. Perhaps one of the girl's has a carguy papa who has a classic/restored model and he leant her the car for her trip!
>>291285916Oh man I love bread bowls.Definitely a convertible.I've gone through iterations, but I think Japanese blood types are a good starting point.Type A girl is on a high-powered career path after college, already has a job lined up. She's the main planner for the trip, the one trying to keep them on schedule. But she sees her whole life planned out ahead of her and she's starting to get anxious and sees this trip as her last chance to be spontaneous and free. During the trip she seeks out strangers in all the places they stop, looking for wisdom, which she collects in a journal, advice for life as she faces the end of college and the start of true adulthood.Type O girl is the social glue, the one that wants this trip to create memories so strong that the four of them will be friends forever. She's insecure about them drifting apart and sees this as the opportunity to prevent that. She's probably the one that insists they keep switching seats at every stop. She builds a photo album, not of the scenery or sights, but of herself with the others. It's all just photos of them. It's not about the destinations, but the people she's with, and she's working through needing to be okay with her time in college ending.Type B girl is curious, impulsive, and blunt. She's still undecided about post-college and she is feeling a bit like a failure compared to Type A's certainty and certain success. But she's creative and artistic, and fills a sketchbook during the trip, working through her feelings and looking for inspiration and a stronger sense of self-worth.Type AB is the quiet observer, the more rational, more philosophical. She brings stability, but she's felt like an outsider even within the friend group. She hopes this close proximity will allow the others to finally know her. She collects a seashell from each beach they visit, physical evidence of her presence on the trip, but she wants the best one. Metaphorically she's trying to come out of her shell.
>>291286867ALL kino holy fvck anon. I wanna ride with them so bad
>>291286867>>>/wsg/6243237
>>291285997Not a car guy, so specific make and model somebody else will have to come up with. If I had infinity money, I'd probably build a time machine and get this made by the same KyoAni that made K-On. But honestly that'd be my answer for just about any hypothetical anime project. So beyond the specific goals (don't just live as she's supposed to but live well, ensure she's not forgotten by her friends, figure out what inspires her, become tangible and known), we get some specific dynamics across the six relationships:A + O: High energy scenes, but it's also anxiety vs. optimism. Ultimately they evolve to realizing they're both caretakers of the group. A is making sure they don't run out of gas, and O is managing the mood of the group, both acts of love.A + B: Order vs. chaos. The most contentious, but they're still friends, they just have to work around each other. They're both anxious about the future but from opposite sides. A learns to appreciate some detours and B learns the value of structure.A + AB: Intellectual intimacy. They're the ones that can sit more quietly in the front of the car while the two in back are sleeping. AB cools A's anxieties. A pulls AB into the practical real world she wants to be in too.O + B: The most silly ones, the troublemakers, come up with the most inside jokes and games to play in the car. They intuit the other's fears hidden behind masks and become each other's confidants. Push each other to authenticity and emotional honesty.O + AB: Heart vs. head. O's unconditional warmth gets AB to open up. AB understand's O's melancholy at college coming to an end. But at first it's a bit overwhelming for AB and awkward for O.B + AB: The outsiders looking in. Surreal and abstract conversation, from the banal observations to the deep theoretical. They get each other on a deep level by the end.
In a 2 cour series, realistically probably a day, sometimes two days per episode. Start in Toyko at their university. Head north up the coast. The characters are introduced, they see and do a few fun things, it's high energy but it's still hasn't really sunk in yet what they're doing until the ferry to Hokkaido on episode 3 or 4. The show uses ferries and bridges as transition points, to go for the deeper stories. And as it happens there's 8 such transitions and 4 characters, or 9 island segments each.1: Tokyo to Oma, ending with the ferry to Hakodate. Everyone's on their best behavior. These are friends, not roommates, so the constant proximity requires adjustment but nobody wants to offend anyone. Fake harmony, leaning hard into their roles to establish the characters.2: Hokkaido, then back to Honshu after the loop. It feels vast and isolating. Some find inspiration, some start suffering from the road madness. The trip they've got ahead of them starts to feel all too real. The walls they have up start to break down.3: North to South Honshu, ending with the bridge to Kyushu, probably arriving around episode 10. The novelty has very much worn out. They're fatigued, grumpy, high tension between characters as their various quirks and habits annoy each other. As they go south the temperature rises. Maybe they spend more time apart at stops. More silliness.4: Kyushu, to the Okinawa ferry out of Kagoshima around episode 13. The heat gets to them. They have some real fights but reconcile and get a lot more honest with each other. The real bonding begins.5: Okinawa and the return. It's like a dream. They're in paradise, and joyful with their newfound respect and admiration for each other. They're now truly lifelong friends. But as they return from paradise, they start to see the end of their trip coming.6: Kyushu back to Honshu. They're now seasoned pros at road tripping. They're close, and starting to get introspective. A bit of dread that it's coming to an end.
7: Honshu again, heading for the bridge to Shikoku. The unspoken anxiety about their futures is now morphed into open conversation and support for each other. They start to talk about the things they've each been collecting, and their hopes for the future rather than their fears. They all now just want to cherish the time they have left together. They talk about how they've been traveling in a circle back to where they started, but they're not who they were when they left.8: Shikoku loop and the bridge back. All the relationships have reached their final state. They've healed. They're just having fun together now, and mourning the impending end of their journey, but it's mixed with excitement for what comes next.9: The last of Honshu, and return to where they started. Bittersweet but triumphant. They've done something together that's incredible and they'll never forget. Their perspectives changed about everything, their bonds are unbreakable, and they will always be friends and have a shared experience that has changed them forever. They build four scrapbooks together with everything they collected. The words of wisdom, the photos, the drawings, the sea shells, and each will have a copy. They're now mature adults, fully realized and ready to tackle the remaining school year and their future lives after college.
>>291288081>>291288069>>291287385Love how much effort and thought you've put into this already. Will be reading this all the way through soon. Ive got several ideas, but none of my cgdct ones are anywhere near as fleshed out. I've got 3 in this genre>cute girls do cute fantasy/sci fi aquarium things - portals opened up on the bottom of the oceans and connected the oceans of a dozen different planets together. Every ocean went into turmoil as they all combined into one. Eventually, after a hundred years, this calmed down and we follow a group of girls who work in various roles at japan's largest aquartic sanctuary and research facility>cute girls do cute 17th century sailing things - can be anything ranging from a master and commander type story, to a retelling of moby dick, to a GuP style universe where schools of cute girls compete in naval battles, to a light hearted seafairing adventure following the cute girls of one particular ship as they engage in various 17th century seafairing activities like whaling, pirating, trading, etc.>cute girls do cute mental illness things. We follow a group of friends in an insane asylum. Light hearted but with a dark tone. Each girl has a different type of mental illness ranging from schizoprehnia to depression to proper OCD. Shenanigans ensue as they spend every day together
>>291288657Once you get me started, lol...Anyway, I would love a cute girls do cute age of sail things. They gotta be in the uniforms though, with the bicorns and buttons and cutlasses. And it has to be autistically detailed about navigation and sail terminology and stuff. I wanna hear about mizzenmasts and topsails.I enjoyed High School Fleet, but the story was a bit silly. If they played it more straight instead of a gimmick, I think it could've been a great one. Some kind of training cruise for new recruits, and it just happens to be a world where cute girls are sailors. I'd watch the heck out of that. Could just be an alternate Earth where it's mostly islands and everybody needs to sail the way in our world everyone kinda needs to learn how to drive. Most of the jobs are at sea and the world doesn't have a lot of coal mining since there's not much land so nobody's inventing steam ships. So naturally you put girls on ships to go to school and learn proper seamanship.
>>291287385>A + AB>hanging out on the hood of the car, lying down with their backs on the windshield, staring up at the stars talking about their fears and dream>NANDO DEMO shotFvcking kino. Evocative and beautiful.
>>291288081>>291288069Just read it all. Genuinely wonderful anonI know nothing about the geography of japan. Do you, perhaps, have some personal experince traveling this specific road? If not, you absolutely should at some point to put yourself in your character's car. I can tell you care deeply about these characters and this story. Always the most important sign to see in a storyteller. One other thing I'll add, is that even though you've said youre not a car guy, I think it would be really important for the car to be the fifth character in the story and feel like she has her own personality, too. Being the literal and metaphorical vehical for journey is a super important role. Obviously I don't mean it should talk or anything, lmao, but it should feel like a stable presence for them that can carry all their burdens. Imagine, if you will, an episode during the heaviest, hottest contention in the middle of their trip, right after a fight when they all decide to take a day apart from eachother to cool down. They all go off on their own five minute adventures without the other present, and at the end they return to that seaside parking lot and thr first thing they see in the distance is AlcyoneChan waiting patiently for their return. Headlights up as AB sits on the hood drinking a coffee for the next leg of the drive.Feels bad getting genuinely excited for a show that currently doesn't exist...I hope some day you manage to make it and it turns out as great as you envision anon
>>291287385Also>keion kyoaniHell yeah my niggaPersonally, I still love kyoani and still think they have the SAUCE. even though sparks of tomorrow dissapointed me and was aggressively mediocre, I loved CITY, I loved Kumiko's show, I loved Dragon Meido, I think Ruri Dragon is going to be great, and I'm still hopeful for Haruhi s3 and a continuation of the keion franchise. They need to step it up and show these fags how band shows are done with DEATH DEVIL
Since were sharing ideas I figure I'd share the one that I've put the most thought into. I posted it once in a write an anime thread and no one read it lolhttps://pastebin.com/0CGKesB8It's about an alchemist named Cillian Illstar and his apprentice daughterfu Alice
>>291289379>Do you, perhaps, have some personal experince traveling this specific road?Nope, just looked at some ferry maps and I know about the bridges.>I think it would be really important for the car to be the fifth character in the storyI've given that some thought, actually. While I don't know enough about cars to choose one for such a hypothetical anime, I do think it's important that it stands out, maybe has a unique color. And its condition should change over the course of the show, too. It should be pristine in episode 1, and really until the girls stop being so polite. It'll get messy over time. Food wrappers on the floor. The way they pack their stuff away will get more haphazard, and eventually once they're on the final legs of their journey they'll have gotten really efficient at packing, making everything optimized, similar to how thru-hikers get really lean and organized on their pack and gear after hundreds of miles. And the car might also have problems. Maybe one of the girls parks badly and dents it. Maybe they break a radio knob and fix it with tape. Sometimes it's a bit dirty, other times the rain will clean it. They may decorate the inside, make it feel more like a home. Small comforts and personalization as the four girls add their little touches.>>291289523I largely agree. I still have high hopes for Ruri Dragon.I just think they were really on the top of their game with K-On, and that sort of sweet nostalgic vibe and interplay of characters is kinda what I'd want for a road trip. I think a lot about the K-On class trip to Kyoto and would want that sort of energy. Maybe character designs that lean more P.A. Works. The Hibimeshi hair is so crazy over the top and creates really memorable silhouettes.
Here's an excerpt from what would be a novel format of the story. But I'd rather this were an anime. Rereading the paste now, it's very sloppy and not structured properly at all lol. I wrote it when I was very tired. I ought to go back through and clean it up alot to make it concise>We never spoke directly about it, but over the weeks she would stay more than she would go. The spare room I used for storage would empty of crates and fill with her things- clothes, toys, furniture from her old house, frogs- occasionally, which she would kidnap from the pond and keep for tea parties. I found myself telling her more and more often when I would go on trips to the forest or river to gather ingredients; More often than not I found her following me on these little excursions; Always trailing behind with her own little basket, picking what I picked, walking where I walked. One day, I woke up particularly tired after a long session of brewing and bottling. I dreaded going out to tend my garden, as I always ought to in the morning, and was delighted to see my basket already full. She was laying up on the rafters, all covered in dirt, with Bane resting on her lap and a book in her hand. The final moment came when a customer had entered the shop- a traveler I hadn't seen before. He began to tell me about his trouble sleeping on the road. I was about to begin my song and dance, as I heard the quick and familiar skipping on the floorboards, followed by the closet door creaking open, and careful walking back to my side. Just as the patron finished speaking, a bottle of Moonlighter appeared on the counter; she stood on her tiptoes, just barely able to see over it, and had a devilishly proud and smug smile on her face. As soon as the man left I knelt down and dropped the silver coins into her hands. "Alice, how would you like to be my apprentice and learn alchemy?" She looked confused for a moment, glancing up and down between me and the coins, "I thought I already was!"
>>291289720>driving in the rain episodeMy heart can't take it
>>291289682>Alchemy economicsSome interesting ideas there. I am particularly intrigued by the idea of potions aging like wine. Also the concept of reused containers and how different vessels can affect the potion.
>>291289948Thank youI was inspired for those ideas specifically by>kami no shizukuFor the ageing>CITY rewatchWhen the three crows drank sake during one chapter, one of them brought out 3 different cups and said sake tastes different depending on what you drink it out of (spoiler - they were all delicious)
>>291289915Cute.>>291289930Well summer is the typhoon season.>>291289997Ah, makes sense.Yeah, with wine it will age in the barrel and continue aging (albeit without taking anything else from the glass unlike what it gets from wood barrels prior to bottling) because it's still a "living" thing. But with spirits, it only ages in the barrel, and remains the same in the glass bottle (assuming no effects from exposure to light or oxygen leaking in). Perhaps some potions would age like wine after bottling, and others might age in a different container before bottling, then get moved to something else to stop the aging process when it's just right. Some might be brewed in glass and never age at all, or be affected by light and need a dark glass to keep it out.Wine of course doesn't only get better with age, but generally peaks and then starts declining after a certain number of years. And wine doesn't necessarily get aged in wood barrels, but some varieties use stainless steel to preserve certain flavors and avoid adding wood flavor. I've also had wines that were a blend of half aged in oak and half aged in steel, from the same batch of grapes. I actually rather prefer a "half-oaked" chardonnay. Some people/companies will use wood chips in steel barrels instead of wood barrels, as a cost-saving measure, since a proper wood barrel is quite expensive. Maybe there's a potion-equivalent to such a practice that offends the sensibilities of your noble alchemist.
>>291290244Yeah, there is TONS of room to go full blown autism with the processes for brewing, ageing mechanics, the mercantile side of things. That would require alot of research on my part into various real life things to be able to convert them into this fantasy world. In the current stage, it looks alot like cooking because that's the thing I have alot of experience in irl life. So I imagine that lots of the episodes of the show will involve these hibimeshi-esque montages of the alchemist brewing with a huge variety of ingredients, accompanied by gentle music ala SheeP. One of the important episodes which I didn't mention in my write up, is as follows>Alchemist is sick>he refuses to dip into his own supply of health potions because he's worried about failing the town and not being able to provide enough for them due to it being a harsh winter>he hasn't been able to find holly, a winter ingredient that can be substituted for the summer ones in health potions, thus, he can't make any more>Alice begs him to drink it because she's worried>when he still refuses, she takes matter into her own hands>she takes out his catalog and flips to the health potion page. Reads that holly is a winter ingredient, flips to the index, then to the ingredient drawings page to find what it looks like. Makes a rough copy of it.>she puts on her coat and boots and steps out into the lightly snowing, cold winter day. She goes into a nearby woodland area to search for the plant>she has her hatchet with her, which was a gift she got from the traveling drawf. She mainly uses it for gardening or chopping firewood>after some time adventuring and seeing little curious things, she finally finds what she thinks is holly, but uh oh!>there's a nearby bobcat defending it's recently hunted prey, unconvinently right next to the holly>Alice thinks about going back, but then she steels herself and remembers a mantra of words she's picked of from the various people in her life
>>291290573>"be smart, be strong, be brave">words told to her by the alchemist, the dwarf merchant, and the elf mage, respectively>she repeats it over and over again as she slowly takes off her mittons and drops them to the ground>finally she lifts the hatchet from her holster and raises her axe on the last word>she charges the bobcat with a battlecry and it relents immediately and flees>Alice falls to her knees at the victory, feeling adrenaline and a sense of accomplishment and she takes a basketfull of holly and hurries back home>on the way back, she stops at the tavern and demands a glass of milk, and buying two meals, to be delivered to the shop, that evening>she returns home and immediately begins working on the potion on her own>this is the first time she's brewed without supervision>important detail here is that she rolls up her sleeves the exact same way Cillian always does at the start of his brewing montages>it's a bit harder for her to work alone, as alot of the equipement is heavy and she needs to get a little creative with how works, for example, pouring the cauldron into the cooling apparatus is something Cillian, as an adult, can do with one hand as long as he's careful, Alice has to use her whole bodyweight to work that lever and gain the leverage she needs>I digress, we see her do everything carefully, expertly, on her own. It's a coming of age moment for her and a huge milestone in her career as an alchemist>after waiting very impatiently for it to cool, she bottles the set and compares it to one of their few remaining in stock bottles. They look almost identical.>she rushes upstairs to where Cillian is still sleeping and waits for him to wake up>when he wakes up, she's half asleep, but she manages to tell him to drink the bottle>>Alice, I told you, I'm fine. I don't need i- *COUGH COUGH COUGH WHEEZE*>>I made it myself>>what do you mean?>>I found holly. I just brewed it myself, please drink it
>>291290721>when he hears this, without any hesitation he pops off the cap and downs the potion>Alice immediately lights up and jumps in his arms to hug him>episode ends on a wide shot of the shop as nightfall sets in with the single light in the attic fading still alight and smoke coming from the chimney. The special ED plays over this shot, slowly timeslapsing until morning>post ED scene, a fully refreshed Cillian comes downstairs into the workshop and smiles as he sees the gigantic mess Alice made of it

is the manga ahead of anime?is the manga an actual thing now like non non biyori?are we getting season 2?
I kinda wished for a Hibimeshi Repeat. I don't want the girls to get older.
>>291297121We will see the hibis passing each year, adding new kouhais to the club and cooking lots of food until they graduate and part ways.

If you were going to switch everyone's hairstyles around, so no hibi can keep her hairstyle and all five hairstyles must be featured on exactly one hibi, but colors otherwise remain the same for each girl, how would you swap them?
