If anything being so slow and sentimental might have scared readers with its association to Class S and one could argue a more explicit and shocking couple was needed to generate interest. After all the message Kasumi and Haruyo took from Sayori and Mizuki was that their relationship could safely outgrow school and imitating S. I won't deny the boxcutter duo looms over its image but there's this tendency I dislike in the post-mortems of manga to blame shifts in plot or tone on a decline in sales when the reality is they never had sales in the first place. Like how anons frequently blamed Sylph's 3rd volume for focusing on a less interesting subplot when Kamejiro explicitly stated volume 1 never sold well enough for the publisher to greenlight more volumes than 3. That same volume 1 anons told me was so good there was no way it would be axed. There's a persistent overestimation of the genre that often turns ugly when everyone's looking for something else to blame. Not to single you out or anything, it's just a common trend that was on my mind these past days.

Move to digital only is truly soul crushing. I’ll continue to support digitally because this is my favorite yuri manga, but the physical volumes are the jewel of my shelf and it being forever incomplete is a major bummer. At least it’s better than an outright axing

Clearly a dramatic choice on Dorothy's part to build up suspense and highlight her distance from everyone despite being so close. Still, with Dorothy already willing to let her write something I'd wager she'll be speaking before the end of the manga.
