This is Hattusa, the capital of the Hittite Empire in the 14th century BC. This is the story of a girl who rides the sultry winds across the vast stretches of Anatolia.
Any sign of the Ahhiyayaya yet?

Oh fuark, cour 2 did receive a production bump, this was the best looking episode so far, and just a great episode in general.Alas, it didn't escape the cour 2 opening curse. Great new ending song tho.
>>291302105>Alas, it didn't escape the cour 2 opening curseIt's not thatgreat, but is it Nana Mizuki?

>>291302261You never know to what extent this story could rewrite history due to the presence of Yuri and, you know, magic existing. She already discovered iron.

>>291302367It’s true that the manga (rightly) takes a lot of liberties when it comes to historical accuracy, but when it comes to the major events, it tends to stay more or less true to reality. And since it’s a perfect source of melodrama for a shoujo setting, I’ve always been sure that Zannanza would meet the same fate as its real-life counterpart
Funny that this arc starts and this video drops. Highly recommend watching.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MZq_ZQDhJA
Ok at this point we are only four years away from Mursali's conquest of Arzawa and sacking Miletus as revenge for the Achaeans supporting Arzawa. But this is a completed manga so do they ever get that far and Yuri gets to see the Greek walking ovens in their Dendra armor?

Shame they removed the "This is Hattusa" prelude. I quite liked it and it set a nice historical tone.

>>291305274People were complaining though about the egyptians wearing too much clothing.
>>291305421That's cause rich Egyptians rarely spent much time out in the direct sun. They lived in huge stone palaces and traveled by river barge and litter, beneath awnings providing shade. But Egyptian royalty and their attendants rarely had need to travel somewhere that wasn't on the Nile, so they didn't commonly garb themselves for lengthy desert journeys, like the Arabs and other desert people.

I'm confused, what's with the thot queen wanting to kill everyone, how does she keep getting away with it?
>>291308153She is queen. She holds power and position within the royal court, not just as the king's current cock sleeve but as a priestess to a major deity. She has her own faction within the court, who support her son to become the next king. They don't do this out of any real loyalty to her, or her son, but in order to "get in on the ground floor" of the next regime. Being an early backer of the king, before his succession was certain, is sure to guarantee them favorable position when he comes to power. That's how things always work in royal courts, when there are multiple possible heirs to the throne.Basically, she's too politically connected for the king or anybody else to do more than mildly rebuke her in public.
>>291308153She wants her son to be king, but he's the youngest prince, and Kail is already designated as the crown prince (that means he's the current heir to the king). The simplest way to make her son king is remove the competition by killing the other princes. She gets away with it because she's sneaky and uses lots of patsies and proxies to do her dirty work, and tries to make the deaths look like accidents or the work of the empire's enemies. Even if basically the entire court knows she's scheming to make her son the crown prince they don't have any definitive proof of any specific wrongdoing of hers. If they accused her before the king it would just be he said she said back and forth, and the king's priority would be to prevent a civil war so he'd try to defuse the conflict rather than take a side. Taking a side would lead to the queen rallying her supporters to fight against the crown prince and his supporters. The crown prince would probably win because he's the commander of the empire's armies, who are loyal to him, personally, so if it came to open conflict the queen would be crushed. Hence why she's being sneaky.

So how rushed is this as an adaptation?
>>291312360not rushed at all
>>291310711
>>291312372Then I guess they won't be adapting through to the ending
>>291312587uuh, they're not adapting 28 volumes in a single season, no.
>>291312587No, but that was an unrealistic expectation. I think the most natural place to stop at the current pacing is at Volume 14, which marks a major plot point
>>291312714Karakuri Circus adapted 1 volume per minute...
>>291312618>>291312714I was thinking they might cut out a bunch of stuff to try and tell the bulk of the story, since this is an old and finished manga that almost certainly won't receive a second season
>>291312832It will receive a second season, the studio got nothing else going on
>>291312832Never say never. I'm really surprised they decided to make this adaptation to begin with, to be honest. At this point, since we don't know what their goals were, how much the anime cost or how much revenue it has generated, it's possible they might decide to wrap up the story with another two-cour season

Don't die yet I'm watching the episode now
I spoiled myself a couple weeks ago about Zannanza, but damn, I didn't think it'd happen this soon and this quickly. Despite that, it's impressive that they managed to portray this as a real "what if Kircheis was here"-tier tragedy in such a short time. Also Aslan is my fuarking hero
>>291301575She's clearly too pretty to be evil.
Archaeological findings indicate that early civilizations, including the Hittites, Phrygians, and Urartians, cultivated grapes and produced wine as early as 4,000 BCE. These ancient societies recognized the importance of viticulture, incorporating wine into religious rituals, trade, and daily life.

>>291320524Did any made a wine to compete with that of Nappa Valley?
>>291320524Grapes did not grow well in Egypt so they traded for it. Minoans carried a lot of it, but Crete was small so it only grew some of it and got the rest from mainland Greece. When Santorini nuked the Minoan and Cycladic shipping industries then the Myceneans, Phoenicians and filled the void and as Crete had to buy wood overseas it never got back to the top position before Mycenean's decided to take over the competition by occupying Crete.

Which was apparently a colony or dependent of Minoan Crete but doesn't seem to have done much to help its parent people and rather expanded itself. Encouraged the kingdom of Arzawa that essentially surrounded it- the Greek population here being only interested in the sea traffic not farming so only occupied the shore around the bay not the hinterland- to rebel against the Hittites and the Hitties sacked them for it in about this time period.

Mursili I invaded Yamhad and its capital, Aleppo, which had eluded Hattusili I. He then led an unprecedented march of 2,000 km southeast into the heart of Mesopotamia, where around 1595 BC he sacked the city of Babylon. Mursili I's motivation for attacking Babylon remains unclear, though William Broad has proposed that the reason was obtaining grain because the clouds from the Minoan eruption decreased the Hittites' harvests.
