Elaina and friends are likable and multi-faceted, with memorable character designs and wonderfully heart-warming dynamics between one another. Seeing the different cities and their customs is so interesting, and it's nice how there's almost always a twist or a catch you couldn't predict in its entirety. The lessons taught appeal to me, and they aren't preached in an overly pushy manner. Moreover, I love witches, yuri, and protagonists who aren't virtuous in the traditional sense. Elaina herself already makes this manga worth it. It's refreshing how she doesn't pretend to be some all-sacrificing unconditional altruist. She's not afraid to act for her own self-gain, and doesn't get herself in trouble to help people for no good reason. One such reason that may motivate her to act, however, is being fond of someone. She's not a cold-blooded sadist who takes pleasure in people's misery, and for her loved ones, she is very much willing to be of aid. In such moments, she shows how kind and warm she can be.
