When War of Underworld was airing.
That said, we'd need Accel World S2 right about now.
Why won't they give us S2. It's been 14 years already. Unital Ring can't be adapted without Accel World, can it?

Accel World S2 is unlikely to happen because infinite Gundam and Love Live bucks is more profitable for Sunrise.

Didn't Unital Ring introduce characters from Accel World?
Doesn't Accel World's very first novel namedrop the Nervegear and make reference to Project Alicization?

The first thing is a minor reference that hints at a connection.
The second thing is referring to Mutasina, who while nothing is confirmed has some implications that she may be the mother of the main heroine of Accel World.
The nerve gear reference was an anime original addition.
Some in-universe concepts are shared and some tech has been name dropped in both.
In Volume 19, Graphite Edge (walking Kirito reference) tells a story which lines up with what was hinted at the end of Alicization and what will probably end up happening in Unital Ring and the silhouettes in the illustration have resemblance to Kirito and Star King.
The two series are very obviously linked but nothing has happened where the rest of Accel World would need to be adapted to do Unital Ring, Accel World takes place further in the future after all.
If anything SAO might need to finish first but there is no way of fully knowing what direction everything will go in.
I may also have missed some things as I am writing this off memory.
