For comparison the second volume of Mahoyo LN (~500 pages) will cover amusement park and chapter 5 finale. First chapters are slow burn. They're like Fate prologue with both Rin and Shirou's povs but ten times longer. It's also not the HF2 movie deal when Ufo extended Herc fight to justify the ticket price. The pew pew in Mahoyo is important as SoL parts. But VN has perfect structure for TV show (spoiler: it's all episodic Cute Witches doing Stupid Things feat SonoG) and it should be possible to compress SoL without ruining everything (making it still enjoyable for anime-onlies and Neutral Non-Schizo VNgods). Only atmosphere will be different.
