So they literally could have gotten a divine revelation that the princess had run away and would be leaving the city, as well as has being given the whole plan they're discussing. The king dismissed it because he had no reason to go into what the plans for dealing with the disturbance were just because his little sister was curious about it. So Princess ran away from the castle with a hairbrained scheme to investigate herself, and promptly got kidnapped. Which King had to settle for sending Goblin Slayer to save his sister because politically he couldn't deploy the army to save her from her folly, and he needed Hero to investigate the mountain as soon as she returned as had been the original plan. Hero's party ended up having a relatively easy time of it because GS accidentally dropped the goblins right on top of it.
