Despite having an ecchi-style premise, it didn't really seem interested in any form of actual sexiness, and it took the non-fanservice parts of itself much too seriously. Without the hook of eroticism geared towards male audiences, the sports stuff isn't really interesting enough on its own. If it isn't going to be sexy, why go with that premise in the first place? It's like if a feminist made an ecchi show. The two halves didn't mix.
