The battles are mostly engineered for neural sensations and 4d effects, fast and almost incomprehensible on spot. Its honestly nothing more than a rollercoaster ride. The battles are still mostly being "Oh no Oarai is in disadvantage and trouble but we found a way and won!" because they still have to make Oarai win.The biggest problem is that while the battles are somewhat enjoyable the plot has zero stakes and had to force an absolutely stupid execuse to make Oarai participate again while not caring about the story outside battles. Guess they had to pick another reason other than the school closing down, but this seems like its the flaws of a rushed project that had to finalize concepts under only a few months.I like the brits here, but the plot of df makes it feel like they became the final boss only out of obligstion and for the sake of cliches. Especially with the comeback with alice that became much clear. The writters and director doesnt give a shit about the plot and aren't even trying the bare minimum, just using fillers and cliches here and there. The original gup TV run even had the plot much better and coherent compared to this.That's why the finals don't feel hyped. The finals is another repeat of the same sequence, and its again Oarai having to defeat their undefeated rival in a 3rd decisive match but with more disadvantages. I bet Oarai is still going to win because of plot armor and convenient writting worse than shonen tier manga.

By der film, they were sure that Mizushima's method guaranteed success and was the most optimal model for running gup. They just brought Mizushima back and without being innovative nor trying new ideas, they just let him be director again and use the same formula once again. While that, das finale's conceptualization and planning stage was super rushed which is also the very possible reason of the dumb momo plot and zero stake friendship slop.Funnily, they're even justifying taking way longer for a short film under one hour for the sake of 'quality' and 'craftsmanship' which is in reality just another sign of fatigued production and incompetenceTl;dr gup by das finale has become slop nothing different from Hollywood slop like the mcu. Thanks to this decision by actas the franchise and its fans are slowly dying too.

The problem with Das Finale is that it retained the stale formula of using Ooarai as the PoV characters. It should have rather be narrated from the perspective of Wani and Koume navigating a new post-Maho KMM, thus giving a proper amount of attention to Wani's struggle to become a good Senshado leader without simply parroting the Nishizumi Style.This would have ensured no plot armor due to the absence of the Momo angle, thus providing a tournament where anyone can win

I think Miz's philosophy and direction was necessary for the early success of gup in 2012, but that only worked up to der film.Miz's contribution to gup's success and actas's redemption was undeniable, and especially his direction that focused more on military bits and action rather than direct drama and plot worked good for am unconventional show that wasn't guaranteed to succeed towards a great range of viewers. People became interested of gup because the show was tank and military nerd facts focused while still carrying the sports drama plot around that unusual subject.However Miz's method has one big problem. Its not deep and shallow, thus its only functional in a startup franchise that needs more attention from people. After establishing enough world building and popularity, Miz's magic no longer works. It could instead become an anchor that impedes more advanced plot or new ideas and concepts being used because Miz's idea fundamentally sticks to the most simple and basic ideas that don't extend for longer. It's a safe way to grow a franchise, but once the franchise is big enough, it loses effectiveness. Yet Actas and Bandai still cant let go because its a safe bet with low risks and (so far) high return.
