Is this manga worth reading?
>>291343322Are you worth reading?
Boku no Pico.
>>291343322Fuck off, nigger.
>>291343322Are you telling me that people suddenly care about the hardships of finding a female partner when it's a lesbian who's lonely?Oh, fuck off.
>>291343322Anon, a 30+ year old overweight balding leftie wastrel:>dude, that adorable young japanese girl is JUST LIKE ME!!!!!!
>>291343322unless you're a lesbian yourself, probably not
>>291343322No all her works are retarded and her life issues are literally self inflicted.
>>291343322I thought it was cool
>>291343322>LesbianShe deserves to suffer.
No but it's relatively short, so it's mostly harmless..
>>291344311If so, i wish i could make money off of writing about my self induced problems
/a/ hates now everything about this mangaka because chuds take over
>>291343322It has a few useful things for people with depression from social anxiety or distant parents, like how being unable to do things because of extremely low self-esteem gets misinterpreted by outsides as unable to do things because of laziness. Also her being lesbian is a part but no means the focus of the book, so title being rendered in English to imply that is a little weird.
>>291344311Dazai's issues are largely self inflicted and he even went so far as leading to the deaths of 2 different women through his suicide antics; yet he is one of the most famous Japanese authors oat.
>>291343646Rent free.
>>291344922>Also her being lesbian is a part but no means the focus of the book, so title being rendered in English to imply that is a little weird.Probably to generate more interest in the book. Most of these type of biographical mangas aren't very popular in the west unless there is something "fringe" about it.
It depends on how far you wanna go. Lesbian experience is short, sweet, and is probably one of the better exercises of autofiction in manga. It offers a very clarifying view into the life of someone who's (mentally) fucked beyond belief. However, that's also very the problems start imo. Being a mangaka who lives off of their own debasement hasn't done Kabi any good. The copious amounts of follow-up works leave the borderline territory of autofiction and (to varying degrees) just completely drift into confessional writing. It's entirely self-destructive, forcing her into ever more deteriorating behavior, and, at some point, also becomes unsatisfying to read (though, I'm unsure if that's right word for it). In that sense, it suffers from a lot of the same problems that other autofictional works so: eventually, you get that she's fucked up, every new confession becomes successively redundant, and the reading process annoying. The first couple on loneliness and her sexuality (as the other anon said, her lesbianism is overstated, she's more asexual if anything) work, the stuff on her eatings disorders and alcoholism (though, I liked Pancreas IIRC) take a toll on you, unless you enjoy relishing in other people's suffering, I guess.
