There's a reason almost no anime involves characters older than highschool/college age. All of your most vivid memories are from elementary school or high school. Maybe some college. After that the amount of vivid memories you have per year decrease, and decrease, and decrease, until the years fly by, one day it's your birthday, the next day it's your birthday again, where did the time go. It's because you die shortly after high school. Everything else is just afterglow.
