>>291352820The Kenshin movies are grossly overrated but both the shows are functionally equal in terms of greatness (absolutely stellar parts 1 and 2 [with exceptional note to part 2 because Shishio and Toguro are two of the best arcs in all of shounen anime], with a lame/middling conclusion).Giving it to Yuyu though because the final arc of that isn't as bad as Kenshin's final TV arc.
>>291352820Growing up, Yu Yu Hakusho was my favorite by a mile, and I'd only enjoyed Rurouni Kenshin. As an adult I revisited them both and realized that, as much as I love it, YYH is not a well written story and has enormous quality drops MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the story. RK starts good, gets great, and stays great till the end. RK is now my favorite Shounen Jump series, but YYH will always have a special place in my heart despite its flaws. Both the anime have 10/10 first episodes though. Also, the main cast of both series are absolutely classic and memorable

I really wish they had stuck with the low-stakes spirit detective thing but unfortunately, it would not have sold nearly as well and probably would have gotten cancelled after 20-30 chapters.Kenshin at least tries to have a message. It drags a lot but is overall more of an actual story than YYH. And the Trust x Betrayal OVA is one of the greatest anime ever made, full stop.

>>291352820>Bad beginning vs atrocious endingIm going with Yuyu on this one. Kenshin's first few arcs were pretty good but its anime ending arcs were so bad i never wanted to rewatch it ever again. Yuyus beginning arcs were tolerable atleast and didnt make me want to gauge my eyes out like kenshin after the kyoto arc.
